If you're looking for authentic North Carolina Barbecue joint, Sooeys is the place to go. Even though they don't have a gluten free menu, the wait staff is very knowledgeable and let you know what options are available. There was plenty of gluten free options to choose from and the food was out of this world.

Ordered a pork bbq platter and it came out with hush puppies. I explained why I couldn’t eat them and sent it back and an identical plate without hush puppies came out less then 5 minutes later. Not sure if they were just picked off or if the plate was fresh but luckily I did not get sick. Pork bbq was good but the brisket was super fatty.

Our waitress, Ginger, said almost everything on the menu is GF except for the fried foods. My husband (who is celiac) had the full rack of ribs - said it was wonderful! His only complaint was the green beans were soggy, over cooked.

We stopped for dinner on our way through Corolla. Menu was pretty easy to distinguish what was “safe” and what wasn’t because you had several fried and several non-fried options. I didn’t ask for a gluten-free menu but rather just picked something that came as a platter with no bun and hush puppies on the side. The food was OK, large portions but the chicken was on the dryer side and my husband said his ribs were so so. If you need a quick sit down or take out option, this is a good stop though.

All the proteins that are not fried are gluten free. They are also very accommodating to someone with an allergy.

Had the best fall-off-the-bone ribs EVER at Sooey’s! Waitress was very accommodating with being Celiac and we could even hear her tell the kitchen when she went back that my order was to be made accordingly. Would recommend to everyone!!!

Felt a little sketchy about eating here but the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Had the ribs which were amazing with no problems. Recommend this place for anyone looking for some good BBQ!

Great staff! Very knowledgeable about gluten free. Ask for Gluten free Menu at front cashier

Staff on point knowing exactly what I could have and not have without hesitation. Ribs were probably the best I've had anywhere. Chicken was delicious as well. Liked it so much, ate there twice in a week!

Very good and (Celiac) didn't get sick. Servers were super careful which I always appreciate. Have a list of gf options behind the counter.
Staff was wonderfully accommodating! Meat options are gluten free without buns and without fries
Their beef, pork and chicken are GF as well as their BBQ sauce, baked beans and slaw. Dinner was great!
Yes
Has a gluten-free menu, but definitely not celiac safe. Lots of oils and far too many chances for cross contamination.
Although I did not eat, I snapped the GF menu for anyone that would need it on here.

They were so kind and accommodating! I was introduced to the chef and was give specifics of what I could have, along with a menu on the wall of their GF items. I have a dairy allergy too, and they were great and knowledgeable about that!

The waitress was knowledgeable and when she wasn’t sure about some DF stuff, she checked with the kitchen. Menu was not marked. The bbq chicken itself was tender, but the bbq taste was not my favorite. Very good potato salad. The portions were a good size, enough for lunch and dinner. I did not get sick - nor did my DF/GF husband or NF daughter. Our younger daughter loved that she could keep the frisbee that her kid’s meal came on.

We had take out and the brisket with mashed potatoes was so great we went back a second time. The gf sides are marked and the bbq sauce is gf too. I didn’t have any issues and I’m very sensitive to react. Highly recommend.

Much of the menu is already gluten free, but the server confirmed what I could have and made sure it didn't include a hush puppie which would normally come with it. Ate here twice during our stay and didn't get sick. Bonus is that the food is awesome.
