Absolutely go here! I ate here three times over the course of my vacation, and each time I felt completely confident that I would not get sick. All staff that I encountered were well aware of celiac/gluten free protocols.
I had the fried shrimp basket, shrimp and grits, and the steak with veggies and mashed potatoes. Everything was perfect!

Nice to feel like most everything on the menu is available for someone who’s a celiac. The manager said the owner wanted to walk into the kitchen and safely eat as a celiac as well. That simplified the decision when looking for a place to eat after an impromptu joy ride to the Panhandle.
The waitress was attentive and worked with the kitchen to make modifications when I asked for baked oysters with salt and lemon, which was not on the menu. The Oyster Rockefeller was also tasty.
For entrees, I had grilled mahi mahi tacos with coleslaw and corn. The white corn based taco was soft and a nice treat, having not had one in years.
My fellow GF diner ate the fried seafood sampler, which we decided was best a shared meal. Thankfully all fried food in the kitchen is gluten free. The fried shrimp was the hit of that meal, as were the GF hush puppies.
Next visit that Necoise salad looks more manageable. We left half the sampler untouched, it was so big. The manager warned us, but the chance for some GF fried shrimp and GF fried hushpuppies proved too tempting. Sometimes you have to indulge an impulse. LOL

We were to thrilled to see so many gluten-free options for my husband who has celiac. The owner has celiac too. Almost all the men you can be made gluten free. The gluten-free hush puppies were awesome! We also tried the oysters with blue cheese and bacon jam that were good too. My husband had a filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes for his entree and I had the gluten-free seafood mac and cheese so he could try it as well. It was good but would have been better with the bacon fat bread crumbs that we had to leave off to make it gluten-free. We also had a gluten-free hot chocolate chip cookie and a skillet with ice cream that wewas excellent too. The main entrees could have used just a little bit more seasoning but the steak was cooked very well. Our waitress Mia did an excellent job as well.

Went there again tonight! Almost everything is gluten free or can be made gluten free. Staff and chef very knowledgeable. I am also very allergic to corn and they accommodated me and I have had no reaction! The food was fantastic…all four in our party were extremely happy with our selections!

Ate at South Market yesterday because Jitterbugs was not open. MISTAKE. Celiac+Wheat Allergy and Shellfish allergy. 1st time customers. Asked for manager. Explained my allergies - was told it's what they're known for. No one ever explained the fryer situation but said the fries were safe. We ordered the Hummus and I the Bacon Jam Burger.. The hummus was INEDIBLE. SO MUCH GARLIC. It was sent back immediately. Got food ... Needed salt (no condiments or seasoning on table). Salt grinder arrived with 1/2 inch of water in it. Ask for the manager again. Ate food. Immediately started feeling weird. Heart racing.. Then I became really sick. For the next 6 hours, I was either laying in bed or on the toilet. DINE AT YOUR OWN RISK. ⭐Do Not Recommend

Amazing!! They were so accommodating and helpful. Most things at the restaurant are naturally GF (owner has celiac) but if not, every option can be made GF! Soooo delicious, can’t even tell that the fried chicken is GF

I am very disappointed with my experience today. I have 3 kids with Celiac’s, and we’re excited to have gluten free waffles at a restaurant. They first order was not marked Gluten free, so I mentioned it and they took them back. They brought one first which was fine, but the other 2 orders were undercooked. My daughter was really hungry, but we did not want to wait any longer since we already waited for 45 minutes to get our food. We are very disappointed and won’t be back. It’s sad because we don’t have many places we can trust in the area, and now we can’t trust south market either.

I really hate leaving bad reviews, but the experience and food was just not good. The view was pretty, we sat outside. The spinach dip was tasty. Served with a small portion of house made potato chips, some were crispy and some I could barely chew. The chicken and waffle was disgusting. There were four of us and we all agreed. My son will eat almost anything and he could barely choke it down. It has a very weird flavor and sauce. The cream cheese on it does nothing for the dish, and I love cream cheese. It would be much better if they didn’t try to make it a sandwich. It just makes the waffle soggy and fall apart. And the honey sauce is not good. Would much prefer maple syrup. I picked this place based on good reviews from this app. Then after our experience I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp and all of those negative reviews were much more like our experience, right down to the poor service.

I loved that I could comfortably eat here. I looked on my receipt and it was clearly marked that I was a GF diner. I had the meatloaf and collard greens it was pretty decent. My husband had the fish tacos and he said they were just meh. All in all it was a nice place for lunch.

Absolutely hands down my best gluten free experience ever! I believe most everything on the menu can be made gluten free and it is delicious! The owner has celiac so they truly understand the precautions needed. I had the Chicken and Waffles.... oh my goodness.... AMAZING! They also have delicious cocktails. I had a spicy margarita but they have bottomless bloody Mary's and mimosas! You MUST check them out. PS. Our server, Fi, was great!

Everything I’ve eaten here is top of the line delicious. Generous portions, friendly service, beautiful view, LOTS of gf options! We’ve had the chicken and waffles, grouper bites, burgers, buffalo chicken sandwich, breakfast plate and the peanut butter pie (omg good). A+ for everything. The only thing I changed the second time I got waffles was I omitted the spicy honey because it was too spicy for me (I’m a spicy wimp, though).

Had a great time eating here! Server was awesome. He let me know the things marked gluten free on the menu were naturally gluten free (some things also marked as GF and some marked GF* for “could be modified to be gluten free”) but he’d still mark allergy on my order so they would take extra precautions in the kitchen.
The gulf fish bites and spinach dip are great! I had the fish tacos and crab cakes as well, also amazing!

When South Market gets it right, it’s great. I’ve never had an issue with service but there are inconsistencies with the food. I’ve found the GF Belgium waffle to be great every time I go. I love the blue corn grits but the texture can vary significantly. Pass on the biscuits and gravy; very strange texture and taste. Overall, I appreciate that they really try hard. The owner is celiac so it’s super safe. You just have to find your dish.

Went to South Market for brunch/lunch after landing Pensacola airport. The gluten free menu was great. My husband who has celiac got the gluten free chicken and waffles and gave it two thumbs up. The chicken was cooked great and the waffle was tasty and no reactions. Service was good they brought his gluten free order separately. Many items were gluten free. Great selection. Definitely recommend this spot in Pensacola.

I got incredibly sick after eating here (sensitive celiac). Of course I mentioned my “allergy” multiple times to server who assured me she’d let the kitchen know. The spinach dip we got was admittedly good, though the chips were stale. I got a burger which was only edible, not even good really. Terrible service and I got sick within an hour of eating here. Definitely not as safe for celiac as others have mentioned :/

Small limited rotating menu mostly seafood. We don’t love seafood so hard to review on quality of food, but what we did get didn’t seem amazing. Service was a little all over the place. Beautiful view looking over the bay. Probably worth a shot if you like seafood! :)

DELICIOUS. I often settle for any random gluten free thing, so I’m amazed by restaurants like this where the majority of the menu options are gluten free. The chicken salad sandwich was worth writing home about. I’m only in this town for one day, but I’m coming back here for breakfast tomorrow.
