This place has excellent reviews on this app, and people rave about it in the gluten-free Facebook forums I am a part of. So it was no problem to drive the 45 minutes to this restaurant to try the gluten-free fried chicken sandwich. But that’s where all the good vibes ended.
The sandwich came out blackened burnt. There was MAYBE 2 oz of chicken on the bun - it was mostly fat and batter.
Making matters worse our server never checked on us until after the meal. So I had nothing to eat.
When she finally did after everyone was done eating, and I explained what was wrong with the sandwich, she acted like I was the problem.
The restaurant also simply didn’t care that this had happened.
My time, my dinner, all a waste.
My daughter had the GF pasta and while the noodles hold up the fake cheese sauce is gross and caused massive tummy troubles later.
All in all I do not get the massive ratings for this place. Totally underwhelmed and there’s an Asian GF fried chicken place in East LA you should go to instead.

Bartender’s wife is gluten and dairy free - the non judgment alone was worth it! Not to mention that the bartender was willing to create or explore variations of cocktails and walk me through the menu… 10000% recommend

DO NOT GO HERE
They supposedly have GF food. And the menus has things marked. But the SERVICE and QUALITY are among the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life.
My husband and I went here to celebrate my birthday. We drive across town to get a good GF meal. The moment we walked in the wait staff started arguing with us about which table we wanted to sit at. Then the waiter was extremely rude bc we didn’t know what we wanted to eat and had a few questions.
We ordered and stood up to go play a round of darts. The bar tender was extremely rude and questioned if we were really patrons of the bar multiple time and quite forcefully before giving us some darts.
Before we for the darts (waiting and being questioned unreasonably) our drinks and appetizers came out. We walked back to the table to pickup our drinks with the darts in our hand and the bar tender FLIPPED OUT and screamed at us for leaving the bar area with darts.
Needless to say we left the restaurant and didn’t eat our food. Save your time and well-being and go elsewhere. This place is s*#%.

As a restaurant that is owned by someone with Celiac, all allergies (not just gluten) are taken very seriously. We have zero cross contamination as we have dedicated areas of the kitchen are specifically designated for gluten free preparation and cooking. Most options are gluten free, but those that are not have gluten free options such as gluten free bread, gluten free pasta, etc.
All staff is very knowledgeable of the gluten allergy and happy to accommodate and answer questions.
My son loved the tator tots, Mac and cheese and gf fried chicken.
Host very knowledgeable. Great food.

Wonderful! Service was excellent and food was delicious. It was the 1st time using our Nima at a restaurant and my daughters Mac and cheese came back gluten free. Such a relief to find a place to eat where we can trust!

Great on safety regarding cross contamination. Celiac child had the reuben and liked it. The chicken sandwich is delicious. This is a great place to take a family.

AMAZING! The best chicken sandwich I’ve had in my entire life (not an exaggeration). Tachos were super yummy as well. Mac and cheese was good but not worth the price in my opinion. Staff was super knowledgeable and accommodating for celiac. My brother got the burger and was not impressed, would definitely go for the chicken sandwich!

This spot is great! I've been twice and been happy with the service and the food. Waitress said the only thing that can't be made gluten free is the pretzels.

The food was so good! I got the Mac Attack (it was very cheesy) and really enjoyed it. The burger buns were super and (at times) tasted like a really good pretzel. The mac and cheese was great and the tater tots were awesome. Places like this make having Celiac easier. 100/10

If you’re looking for loaded GF Mac and cheese paired with sausages with spicy ground mustard so good it’s almost offensive this is it. Their house cider is *mwah*. This is the perfect place after a really long run or hike.
They have a decent amount of GF options & sometimes they have a seasonal menu with GF options in there too! I’m a very sensitive celiac and never have had issues here :)
Bonus: they allow doggies in the front outdoor patio & sell dog treats. There’s also a big game room next to the restaurant & attached to the bar that serves apps & drinks (or at least they did in the before-times, ha) 😁

Uses GF frying oil for the chicken sandwich & no cross contamination on the fries/tater tots. Also have GF mac and cheese. Food is fine, your average pub food. Wish they had GF beer though - only options were ciders.

Amazing. The bartender has celiac and helped assure us it was safe. A few items do have gluten but only the pretzels and Guinness burger. Had the Mac n Cheese burger and the sangria cocktail.

Wow. I live near a restaurant that offers gluten free. Eating here makes me want to move here!
I just ate gluten free macaroni and cheese! 😂
Yes
It was very yummy. We had the Mac and cheese despite the other review, just stressed how important it was that we were “safe”. The buns were great too!
Diagnosed Celiac 3 months ago and it’s been a tough adjustment. Slowly getting more brave. Stumbled across this place and was so excited. So comforting to find a sense of normalcy and a big selection of GF foods. Sloppy Joe was great! Good ol comfort food!

Best bun in 16 years since diagnosis. Great options, very knowledgeable staff, and yummy food. Can you ask for more?
Yes
Food was awesome! So many gf options!!! So many ciders and they even have a few options for dessert! Well def b back!! Gf Mac n cheese worth the wait!
I want to like this place and we've given it lots of chances. I once found a non-GF pasta noodle in my order of GF Mac and Cheese. They use GF penne pasta and regular spiral noodles for the standard Mac and Cheese, so it was easy to see the issue. Ugh. Also, the consistency of the food quality is lacking. Sometimes it will be delish, other times it's mediocre at best. There are so few Celiac options in Burbank, so I hope Story Tavern gets its act together! Sensitive Celiac customers like myself are highly loyal because we are desperate for dining options! Please be an establishment we can count on, and we will keep coming back!
No
There have been bun mix ups. I'll stick with the street tacos. They are light but filling. There are several side options and alcoholic beverage options.
Yes
Have had bun mix ups! Be careful!
They brought my gluten free salad out and there were bread crumbs on it

Another wow for this place. Lots of Gluten Free options. The Story Tavern Stew is the best tasting stew that I ever had, even my none-GF husband raves about it. Their Ruben (yes, I said Ruben) on their GF bread (which taste just like regular bread) is fantastic! But what makes this place rock is the staff. Very friendly and we meet Diane the manager who has Celiac and is very understanding of those in the GF community. We loved the ciders Diane recommend (most of which are on tap). We are are going to highly recommend this place to everyone we know. Bonne Appétit!

While on vacation visiting family and looking for a place close by to eat, I mentioned that story tavern was on the list. Yeah came out of everyone's. It is their favorite place to eat and now I know why. Everything on menu can made gluten free. I ordered the potato pancakes and meatloaf. Fantastic! Will be on my list of must visit next time

Wow, this place rocks. Knowledgable staff. Real food that just happens to be GF. GREAT bar. My new favorite pub.
Yes
Almost everything on the menu can be gluten free. But make sure to ask questions. One time we were told the black and blue burger was gluten free, the 2nd time the waitress came back and said the blue cheese was not gluten free. there's a game room, live music, large drink list, dog patio, fun atmosphere.

After seeing the reviews, we decided to try the Story Tavern and were not disappointed! The staff was very informed about Celiac and the food was to die for! The Mac and Cheese was the best that I have ever tasted! The sloppy Joe was perfect! The "tachos" were creatively delicious! The apple crumble was the best! We will definitely be returning! :)
Love Love Love this place. You would never know the food was GF. Had the mussels with GF bread...yummy! The Mac Attack Hamburger is to die for. All GF meal with a delish dessert, Apple Crumble with homemade whip cream. Gota go back!

Pub food. AND! Almost everything on the food menu is available gluten free, and it is all delicious. My favorites are the "Totchos" (Tater tots with nacho toppings) and the GF House Specialty Mac N Cheese, with bacon and carmelized onions.I live nearby and eat here about once a week and have never had symptoms. They take good care. I totally recommend them!

Almost everything is available gf and tastes amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable! I am a very sensitive celiac, and I have never had a problem eating here. I feel as safe here as I do at home!
Yes
Lots of gluten free options, in fact they have added a gf Mac and cheese since I was there last. It's nice to have a good safe neighborhood place to go to for food and drinks. The downside would be that it was crazy crowded and loud on a Friday night and the service was a little slow.
