I had the Classic Diner Burger. You can get a gf bun, but I never trust that any bread item is really gf in a restaurant, so I just skip the bun. They do not have a separate gf fryer, but the waiter offered several sides: Brussel sprouts, broccoli or a side salad with ranch. I had the side salad. The food was very good. I’m extremely sensitive and I had no issue with my meal.

Very good food and many choices. I had the salmon sandwich on GF bun with broccolini
I wanted to try the bowl , but chickpeas not fried in a dedicated fryer

The gluten free version of the grain bowl was really good! The server happened to also be gluten free and was very helpful. During other visits, the servers have been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They make sure to ask if it’s an “allergy”. The chickpeas of the grain bowl are fried in the same fryer as everything else, but they will replace them if you need. Tito’s is the only alcohol that they have labeled gluten free but they have other alcohols like rums too (not labeled gf on the bottles).

The waiter was very good checking on the food and said we’re very careful. But I got sick from eating there. If you go there I hope you have better luck than me. Had a hamburger with no bun and mash potatoes.

Lost faith in this place after being given a sauce I was told had gluten and my lettuce wrap coming out with a fried bit on it. I admit I did not explicitly ask for the sauce to be held, but asking for a gf menu and discussing options/modifications was not enough to get the message across. Nice place get a drink though!

Stopped in for lunch today and had the best burger EVER! Our waitress was great, and knowledgeable about gluten free. My bun was so soft and didn’t fall apart, the patty was thick and cooked to perfection. They don’t have a dedicated frier but it’s also mentioned on the GF menu. Got a side salad instead of fries but it was so big! Can’t wait to visit again the next time we are in town.

overall, this is a decent option in manhattan, but it’s not something to write home about. there is a gluten free menu, which is a nice way to narrow down options, but i still had to make so many accommodations to my salad, which is really frustrating. at the bottom of the gluten free menu, there’s a statement that says that everything is fried in the same non-gluten free fryer. there are a lot of small ingredients in each meal that is then not inherently gluten free. so i had to take a lot of ingredients off (like beans and chickens—we should be easy to be gluten free, but they made it glutinous in the process). i’m a stern believer that if there is a gluten free menu, then i shouldn’t have to make changes. and yet, i did, because there were severe issues of cross contamination. so i think this is a restaurant that is trying to be gluten free, but they really don’t understand what gluten free means.
that being said, the staff was super accommodating and friendly and that’s really why it has a higher rating. fun atmosphere, decent food, but i’m not sure i feel comfortable ordering anything besides a salad.

Always make sure to specify that you need gf for medical reasons and ask that the kitchen change gloves to prepare the food. You will need to request the GF menu as they will not automatically offer it unless you ask. The fries are not gluten free (shared fryer). The gf menu is decent, though they upcharge the gf buns a bit and they aren't the best. Most of the items are burgers but there is still a lot of variety.
Update May 2022: I've had some trouble with their take-away food over the last two years, but I have never been ill from the food I've eaten in the restaurant. The server informed me that they and kitchen staff received training on handling gluten free food. This is a go-to place of mine in Manhattan for eating out.

It is really good burgers and they have a gluten free menu
Had their wings, deviled eggs and steak. All good and no issues. They have a separate gluten free menu and seem knowledgeable.
Yes
They have a new gluten free menu. But make sure you check it and ask questions about it. They had one item on their menu that had sautéed mushrooms in beer. The food was very good and I did not have any issues eating there. I would go back again.

The manager is pretty knowledgeable. They are working to develop a gluten free menu. I had the burger and fries with no issue.
