overall, this is a decent option in manhattan, but it’s not something to write home about. there is a gluten free menu, which is a nice way to narrow down options, but i still had to make so many accommodations to my salad, which is really frustrating. at the bottom of the gluten free menu, there’s a statement that says that everything is fried in the same non-gluten free fryer. there are a lot of small ingredients in each meal that is then not inherently gluten free. so i had to take a lot of ingredients off (like beans and chickens—we should be easy to be gluten free, but they made it glutinous in the process). i’m a stern believer that if there is a gluten free menu, then i shouldn’t have to make changes. and yet, i did, because there were severe issues of cross contamination. so i think this is a restaurant that is trying to be gluten free, but they really don’t understand what gluten free means.
that being said, the staff was super accommodating and friendly and that’s really why it has a higher rating. fun atmosphere, decent food, but i’m not sure i feel comfortable ordering anything besides a salad.
