New menu and new chefs at the Tavern. They have tons of GF options, most are marked as such. Let the server know I had celiac aka very severe wheat allergy and she let me know the kitchen was trained in proper protocol for cross contamination too. I had the strip steak. Comes naturally gf but they changed gloves and used fresh pans for me to be extra cautious!! Didn’t get sick!! Will be going back soon no doubt.

I wish I had read the other reviews before I attempted to eat here. I looked at the menu and was excited to see gluten free items marked on the menu. However, when I sat down to order the nachos (marked gluten free) I was informed that the chips are fried in a shared fryer. I decided not to eat here.

Staff seemed bothered that we came in for breakfast after the rush, but seemed fine with accommodating a gluten allergy. Served an omelet with gf toast on the side. The food was just alright, but nice to have an option while staying at the Essex hotel.

I dine here 4-6 times per year and have been safe every time. I ask about the soups because when I can have them, they are delicious! Usually have a salad with chicken or a burger on a bed of lettuce. And the tomato basil soup. I see others have had an issue, but as a local I never have. I do ask questions every time I order and communicate clearly.

The menu said gluten free option for nachos, but the staff said it was a menu misprint. New menu just came out on social media, guess what, still there. Shame on you for lying. Not a gluten friendly place.

Do not eat here! Our entire dinner was a disaster. Gluten free items were marked on the menu and because of that I was really looking forward to eating here. Our server claimed my g/free & dairy free requirements were no problem at all. He said they would bring me gluten free bread which never came out. When my meal was served I questioned it and good thing I did because it was not safe. The server claimed the recipes had been changed and he didn’t know.

They have a gluten free menu & assured me the chef would change gloves etc prior to handling our meals. Staff was well informed about celiac. My daughter is celiac & got the maple chicken with potatoes. I gave this a 4 star because I had ordered a salad but got fries with my sandwich (it was on gluten free bread). I don’t know if the fries were gluten free/separate frier etc hence the reduced stars. I’m not celiac so it didn’t affect me but I generally order gf so my daughter can swap meals if she doesn’t like hers. That being said - she ate her meal with no issues.

There was no GF menu but GF items were noted on the main menu. There was little to choose from for lunch, just two salads. There were three soups and none were GF. The wait staff did not seem knowledgeable at all. The salad was delicious though.
