TL;DR, I got glutened.

I went here recently for an event, with the plan to not eat here based on the reviews. Through a mixture of their allergen menu, the waitress describing their cross contamination processes, and some outside pressure, I got a burger with the gluten free bun.

I think what got me was that the bun was grilled - probably on the same surface as the other buns. It also could have come from the waitstaff working the plates - they weren’t being super careful and were treating the GF stuff the same as everything else. The burger was mediocre taste wise, even beyond the GF bun.

Don’t make my mistakes lol.

Good gluten-free options on the menu. However, even though they tried really hard to be careful, my Nima tester found gluten.

Disappointed. I tried to order a chicken burger but was told it wasn’t gluten free and they could substitute a chicken breast. I was given a tiny dried up chicken breast on an enormous, bun that immediately fell apart. The quality of their food has really deteriorated in the last few years. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Tips

Gluten Sensitive

I’ve found that while they have a GF menu, I always have to double check when they bring me my order. 2x they have not brought me the GF version of something.

There are a lot of choices, and the menu was fairly easy to read. Our server seemed pretty knowledgeable. I had the Tavern grilled club on gluten free bun with mashed potatoes. It was delicious.

I know we Celiacs get tired of salad, but here I always order from the Build Your Own Salad menu because it's so good! If you're in the mood for a big, hearty salad this is thr place. Only a few of the toppings aren't gluten free and I think one of the salad dressings (although dressings can change often so be sure to double check.) Sadly they don't have a dedicated fryer sou they lose a star for that. Staff is consistently knowledgeable.

They have a separate allergen menu that was easy to read. Our server was knowledgeable about Celiacs and made sure to tell us they did not have a dedicated fryer for gluten free food.

Must try! They have many GF options(from appetizers, soups, salads, and sides...to burgers, pizza, entrees, and cocktails) plus the management(who came by to explain the GF situation/options), servers, and kitchen are currently educated about cross contamination (very little occurs, although they only have one general kitchen).

Each item on the entire menu is marked with symbols indicating one or many possible food allergies, so allergens are easy to identify, along with how they can alter cooking the order for specific needs. Also love the "build-your-own-..." menus. Marking your pick of options on different pads of paper to custom make salads, burgers, pizza, & Bloody Mary's. Great location, happy hour, and service with a nice atmosphere indoors or patio seating. Delicious flavorful you don't focus on or realize it's Gluten Free. Won't feel deprived, problematic or BORED!

In town for business & found this restaurant on this app. Had the 1/2 lb burger with GF bun & garlic aloli sauce & it was wonderful. Best burger I've had in a while. Staff was knowledgeable & helpful. Allergen menu was a little confusing to decipher but was very extensive.

The gluten free pizza is amazing and the burger buns Are great too. I did have them give me regular pizza once instead of gf so just make sure to double check. Food is great. Wish they had a separate fryer for waffle fries because those are so good but so gluten filled. So 4 stars for carefulness on gf food and 5 on taste.

They use buns & pizza crust from bittersweet bakery in Eagan...and I am forever in love with their products. Farmers market pizza was great!
