Review

Stayed at Cabana Bay and have eaten breakfast and dinner here. After other reviews of the GF chicken nuggets, I ordered them as well. They are a hefty portion with fries, both from a dedicated fryer. If you don’t have a large appetite, I would suggest splitting a meal. I also ordered breakfast and asked for GF waffles, scrambled eggs (without milk) and potatoes. The chef made them and added some fresh fruit. Do not get the GF waffles. They are hard and I assume pre-made or frozen. The potatoes were good and the eggs were...eggs. Eggs and potatoes are a la carte (about $3.75 each) but came in a hefty portion. I could not finish. The GF waffles and fruit was about $8-$9 but were terrible. I almost wanted to take them back and get my $$ back but felt bad about doing so. Do not get the waffles. The chef said he could not make GF pancakes but there was a GF french toast option. I wonder if that would have been better than the waffles.

I find it inconvenient and difficult for someone to get a chef to order GF food. I feel uncomfortable waiting for someone to get the chef and then wait again for my food while others are ordering in line. People look at you like “What is this person doing?” What don’t they just have a place you can order where you aren’t in the way? I would much rather just order on a sheet, Mark all my choices and hand it off to someone. It is so frustrating and time consuming. My husband always has his non-GF food before me and it is practically cold before I receive mine. Make sure to take some extra time planning for meals knowing it will take about 10 or so minutes to wait.

You can get water from the drink stations to fill up water bottles which was nice instead of having to buy water. The cups have micro chips on the bottom to get other soda beverages from the automated machine. In Universal and IOA parks you cannot get water like at the resort so don’t count on filling up water bottles from the same machines.
