It was nice that we were asked by the greeter if anyone in our party needed a gluten free menu. The gf menu had a lot of options even fries and sweet potato fries. Unfortunately I believe I got some gluten somehow. We went at lunch and it was very crowded so I know the kitchen was at full speed. I really don't think they had time to try to minimize cross contamination. To be fair, they do say on their gf menu that they can't guaranteed that there won't be cross contamination. I don't think this is a safe place for someone with Celiac disease, but if you aren't that sensitive then you will enjoy a great burger!
Great burgers made to order, nice and casual with real shoestring fries! They didn't talk a ton about GF but have GF bun option or with your burger on lettuce mix (not iceberg!).
So many options, good food. Expensive for burgers but fantastic location if you're doing the tourist thing in NYC. This was our third visit. It's very noisy.
The GF menu states that they can't guarantee it is free of cross contamination!!
Great burger with GF bun Design your own
Found this place through this app and wandered in for carry out on a Friday night. Staff was friendly. We did the build your own burgers and picked gf buns and picked our toppings. I asked to confirm that they had a dedicated fryer because I'm celiac and they told me that they normally do, but one of their fryers was down so I shouldn't order the fries. As much as I wanted fries I'm always glad for honesty. I would rather not have them than be sick. We got milk shakes and headed out with our food. The burgers were really good and the buns were totally fine. I was so full that I didn't even miss the fries. I would definitely eat here again. It was expensive, but our burgers and milk shakes were both delicious.
Despite name, this is a casual sit down place with table service and full bar. Counters for solo diners. Omission beer, dedicated fryer. Ask for gf menu - not everything you'd expect (chicken!) is gf.
I have celiac and ordered a sandwich on gluten free bread. They handed me the food in a bag and asked them are they sure it's gluten free. They said yes. When I got home I called bc it didn't look like gf bread and they said they made a mistake
Ate here two days in a row bc my teen loved it and service was so great. For GF use the build your own. It's pricey but not bad for NYC- and the burgers and gf fries (dedicated fryer for shoestring and sweet potato-yummy!) are great! Fast service, clean restrooms, convenient- please open one in Rhode Island! I loved the hippy salad- very filling even without chicken added. Thank you!!
seperate menu for gluten free. my daughter had a burger with a glutenfree bun and gluenfree fries.
Every time I come to NYC I stop at The Counter for a burger. They understand Celiac and cross contamination, and the food is amazing. Love the bison burger! And a dedicated fryer makes the fries safe for consumption. Can't say enough good things about The Counter!
there is barely and vegan gluten free options for me but a lot of gluten free options for non-vegans.
It was crowded which seemed like bad news but they seated us right away. The tables are small and it's very noisy. The waitresses are nice and the food isn't bad. The only problem was my burger was not medium which I stressed and they forgot my lettuce. The menu choices are great, my husband has a gluten sensitivity and he thought his food was great although a GF bun is an extra $2. Their fries are okay but you should go for the make your own burger.
Yummy GF buns for our burgers! High quality beef made for a tasty burger! Separate GF menu. Teens loved building their own burgers with exactly what they wanted for toppings. Sweet potato fries were very good!
Great place for a quick bite to eat. They have gluten free buns and a dedicated fryer. Had a sandwich and cheese fries, a bit pricey.
Good tasting burgers with many options. The gluten free bun crumbled rather easily, but the wait staff was knowledgable.
This place was amazing! Came here for a quick bite after our flight and the food was wonderful! Waitress was new but very attentive and understanding. Will definitely come back!
I am a regular here and I really love the food but for a burger no bun and Chz fries is $27 and the last time I went they wouldn't give me an extra sauce on side for fries without charging me extra pretty ridiculous. Strange because when I ask for extra in the past never a mention of extra
Extremely good food. we were here at 2:00 on a Friday and the place was packed. Service was still quick and food was excellent!
Fantastic! Gluten free menu and careful!
Gluten free bun available with the build your own burger option
Great! GF bun was amazing! Not at all dry like so many can be. Sweet potato fries were also wonderful!
So good! Lots of options and totally celiac-friendly (separate fryer etc). Only downside was the slow service and packed area (it's a pretty small place) but the burger made it worth it!
Excellent burger with tons of options and gluten free buns or meat on a salad!
They were out of GF buns (and a few other things) when went on a Sunday night. They were knowledgable, and did have a GF menu. The burger and fries were great.
Amazing!! We were starving and the service was great, and the gluten free bun tastes just like a regular bun! Great food and very accommodating. We would definitely come back!
I love to go anywhere that has a gf bun for my burger! Delicious burger and fries are also gf This made me very happy on my first night in NY!
Didn't have gluten free burger buns when I went. Offered to put it on a bed of lettuce instead
Delicious burgers and a number of gluten free options for toppings. Fries were decent too. I would definitely go back.
Expensive, but delicious!
This was our second time here. My son has celiac. The burgers are so yummy and for the first time in years he ate french fries without having to worry since they have a dedicated fryer. Its NYC so yes it isn't cheap but they are large portions.Staff was very knowledgeable.
Yes, it's got a dedicated gf menu and very knowledgeable. Lots of choices for a celiac. I only gave it 3 stars because of how expensive it it. 2 adults and 3 kids = $150 .... For burgers and soft drinks!
The food that was served to us correctly at The Counter was actually quite good. Unfortunately, poor service overshadowed the good parts of the meal. The wait staff was reasonably attuned and accommodating to the needs of gluten-free. However, despite clearly advertising them, they were out of GF buns, which made the meal much less filling. They were out of other ingredients as well, and made several mistakes with our order. The Counter has potential to be a decent GF restaurant, but they need to get their act together in relation to ingredient availability and service first.
Awesome breakfast attentive staff. Great pricing right in Times Square!
per i celiaci è un posto sicuro.. cucina dedicata!!! yesterday night we have been there... The meet is very good and as i suffer forma gluten allergy the place is safe and dedicated. i had my special bun and french fries... great !!!
Excellent place! Very knowledgable about GF. They have a good menu with a lot of options. They serve the burgers on an Udi's roll, which can get boring like most burger places do. But the burger was excellent and the fries are gluten free too! Great place to eat in Times Square.
We went based upon recommendations on this app. Despite the GF claims, I was immediately sick which ruined my vacation day and my wallet since you can't get $ back either and it's pricey! Stay away!!!!
great gf option in times square with dedicated fryer.
Had a burger with GF bun and order of fries. Very sensitive celiac and had no reaction. The bun was soft, burger was fresh. Fries were just ok. Be prepared for Times Square prices- my order was over $20, but no reaction is priceless.
Quality gf bun with a huge variety of toppings. ( I had ahi tuna with horseradish aioli and greens.). They put up with all my questions and they scrubbed a blender for my milkshake.
So happy to find this place. I wish I could post pics -they have a great gf menu, a dedicated fryer and even gf milkshakes. You can pick bison, chicken, turkey or regular burgers. Fry options are sweet potato or Regular. Tons of topping choices and a good gf bun. Right on times sq.
Good selection on their GF menu. Great burgers and dedicated fryer for all their french fries, which were wonderful, especially the sweet potato fries! Yum! My super sensitive celiac wife had a bison burger in a bowl, and had no trouble afterwards. We will definitely eat here again next time in the city!
gluten free menu and buns for burgers. very filling and tasty
Best burger since I went GF. there was a wait to sit and a wait to order, but the food was well worth wait.
Dedicated fryer for French fries was a real treat. They had a lot of options and the ability to build your own burger. Delicious!
Great, fun, gf burger place!
Very knowledgeable and helpful...and yummy!
A great place for a make-your-own gluten free burger. They offer Udi's buns, or you can have your burger on a variety of greens or quinoa. Staff is very knowledgeable about gluten free menu items. Dedicated fryer for fries. Amazing food.
We are moving from California to Idaho. On our trip to purchase our home, we went to the Counter for lunch with our real estate agent. It was awesome! The servers were quite versed on the gluten free and inquired about the extent of sensitivity and said all items were isolated to try to prevent cross contamination. It was so good, my husband and I went back again the next day!
Had a dedicated GF menu which was nice. Can't go wrong with a "make your own burger" type menu. Got 1 lb bison burger on their GF bun with avocado and lettuce. Side of shoe string fries. Was very delicious and didn't have any effects from either dish. Don't think this place is celiac friendly but it does cater very well to a GF clientele. Will return.
ate here with no ill-effects for GF husband. we all enjoyed our meal once we got it. we called in the order and we're told 20 minutes but it was almost an hour. on the plus side, everything was ready at the same time and the right temp. convenient if you are downtown.
Great tasting food! One option for a gf bun and it's typical and not soft and doughy, but they have a decent separate GF menu! Otherwise, get your meal as a salad bowl with all the fixings and toppings you can have. A big portion and filling. Not cheap, but food around here is anything but. However, I feel like it's worth it at this restaurant. This is not fast food. But they still are pretty quick. If you're a burger eater, or chicken tender fan (not GF), this is delicious food. Also, kitchen has a dedicated GF area so no chance of cross-contamination. Usually a very busy place. Regular and sweet potato fries are really yummy. Onion strings are to die for. Literally, if you're GF. But ate them once anyway knowing I'd be paying dearly later -.- !! Full bar. Kid friendly with kid-menu. Amazing shakes. Can't go wrong here. Mtn View location is a lot bigger than the Palo Alto one, with better seating areas and indoor temperature way more comfortable. Thumbs up!

Just perfect! 20 mins wait for fresh burgers and fries to the take out counter; worth it. Gate D33. Friendly service, en Français!
I have celiac and this location has burned me over and over again (I've had good luck at other locations) after I gave them way too many chances. The last time I will ever go here I got a burger with no bun and no fries. How in the **** do you screw that up? I don't know but I was instantly sick. Yes, I specified I have a severe allergy. Other locations have been good to me. This one always screws me. Stay the heck away. This place should NOT be marked as celiac friendly. Maybe they were once, but no longer.
Tasty burger. GF bun fell apart as expected, but hey, it's GF bread! I ended up using a fork with much gratitude for a change from "protein style." Use the GF menu to customize your burger. They list the sides which are safe. Burger was very good, fries were ok although others may like this style. Afterwards my villi were happy!
They have a new updated gf menu. They have a separate fryer but sometimes they turn it off if it's late so call ahead and ask them to turn it on if you want to get fries. Tons of gf options. Probably the best gf burger in town. Very safe.
Delicious, absolutely wonderful burgers. They are pricey, but their burgers are large and you can pile them high with any and all toppings that you want. I like their first buns, just wish they didn't fall apart so much!
terminal 1 gate 3-10 fantastic burger especially after a VERY long day. short blonde at register not only knew what gluten free was but immediately had staff handling my food change gloves. did i mention they have 100% gf sweet potato AND regular fries?? $16 for airport burger salad with fries. only thing that could make it better would be gf buns
Casual burger place in the Gardens mall with an outdoor entrance. Super fresh menu of burgers, sandwiches, and salads, everything cooked to order. Tasty and very large GF bun option for the burgers. Separate GF menu and create your own burger form (ask for it) and dedicated fryer for the French fries. Full bar, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great experience.
Terrible! I have eaten at several other Counter locations with no problems, this one made me sick, obvious cross contamination issues at this location.
While you never know for sure what may have glutened you, I did not feel good the morning after eating food from here, and didnt eat anything else out of the ordinary. I have celiac, may be OK for gluten intolerance. It was a very delicious burger though.
One of the best gluten-free burgers we have run across. My wife has gluten tolerance issues among others and has been missing a good burger, with bun, and fries. We have been getting by with her getting a bunless burger from In-N-Out. The lettuce wrap drips grease and just does not give the same experience as having buns. Most places have bland or just bad gluten-free buns. This place delivered a great meal, burger and fries that taste like a good normal meal. This is a rare find and one my wife value greatly.
Very good! Also, I did not get sick there from cross contamination.
I absolutely LOVE this place! The food is amazing and they prepare GF menu items on separate surfaces. I've never had a reaction from eating there. It is a bit pricey there, but the quality of food and peace of mind that I won't have a gluten reaction is well worth the cost!
I've eaten here a few times with no problem at all. The burgers are very good (turkey or regular) and the fries are safe, too. Unfortunately, their tater tots aren't for some reason...the wait staff wasn't too clear on why...hopefully they'll add more options to their gluten-free menu at some point!
Fun place! Great energy and great food.
Yes their GF burger buns are quite delicious, and their shoestring fries are fresh and GF safe as well. Ask for their GF custom order sheet because many of the sauces on the Regular order sheet are not GF. The staff is knowledgeable and careful if notified that a client has a medical GF issue.
The food and service at The Counter were excellent. The first time I (a celiac) ate here, the manager came out to discuss gluten-free options with me and to show me the ingredients on some of the products used in preparing my meal, to ensure that everything was gluten-free. I wish more places did this. I was also assured that my food was prepared separately, and the wait staff asked if I suffered from a gluten allergy. I loved the fact that I was able to create my own burger/sandwich (I choose to be a vegetarian, so I couldn't have a patty), fries, AND a delicious milkshake for dessert. I definitely recommend this place!
