I want to be clear that the fryer here is NOT safe. It is a shared fryer. This was confirmed by at least three employees (one of which was a manager). Please be safe! The staff gave conflicting answers and made be very uncomfortable. I am also a former health inspector and found the place to be quite filthy. This didn't leave me feeling very safe at all! There were crumbs in my water from either poor dishwashing practices or other contamination. I actually chose to forego eating there while the rest of my non-celiac party ate.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The burgers are fantastic and the buns taste like real buns and not like the typical GF bun. Loved the sweet potato fries too! Our waitress was great and knowledgeable about GF. Now if only they would open one in OC!

My husband and I absolutely love this place. We have been in LA for about 10 days and have eaten here 3 times. They have delicious gluten free buns (that are clearly lactose free, as we are both very sensitive) and also offer Daiya "cheddar". Their burgers are so delicious that they mute the terrible fake cheese taste; it's actually worth adding to the burger. Try one with pineapple, jalape├▒o, bacon and bbq! Their regular fries are safe, but the sweet potato fries are where it's at! The only gf beer they had available is Omission (not safe for Celiacs); however, they offer raspberry and pear ciders that are delicious and not too sweet. All in all, dining here has repeatedly been a wonderful experience that left neither my husband or myself feeling ill after indulging in a meal we rarely are able to enjoy. Last but not least, the staff has been very friendly and accommodated. 5 starts for this place!

Ate lunch here. Separate GF menu but a lot of options on regular menu as well. I got a bison burger with sweet potatoes fries and they have GF beer but only on brand. The food was great, but I would not consider this a one $ waiting but more like a $$.

Safe fries!!! Dedicated frier for regular & sweet potato fries. Ask for a GF menu. I think the bun is just an Udi's bun. I much prefer to get the burger bowl with a big pile of lovely greens. The fries are really good, both kinds. No one got sick. Organic bison as a burger option. Kind of pricey for a burger joint but good quality and safe so worth it overall.

Great tasting food! One option for a gf bun and it's typical and not soft and doughy, but they have a decent separate GF menu! Otherwise, get your meal as a salad bowl with all the fixings and toppings you can have. A big portion and filling. Not cheap, but food around here is anything but. However, I feel like it's worth it at this restaurant. This is not fast food. But they still are pretty quick. If you're a burger eater, or chicken tender fan (not GF), this is delicious food. Also, kitchen has a dedicated GF area so no chance of cross-contamination. Usually a very busy place. Regular and sweet potato fries are really yummy. Onion strings are to die for. Literally, if you're GF. But ate them once anyway knowing I'd be paying dearly later -.- !! Full bar. Kid friendly with kid-menu. Amazing shakes. Can't go wrong here. Mtn View location is a lot bigger than the Palo Alto one, with better seating areas and indoor temperature way more comfortable. Thumbs up!

I have celiac and this location has burned me over and over again (I've had good luck at other locations) after I gave them way too many chances. The last time I will ever go here I got a burger with no bun and no fries. How in the **** do you screw that up? I don't know but I was instantly sick. Yes, I specified I have a severe allergy. Other locations have been good to me. This one always screws me. Stay the heck away. This place should NOT be marked as celiac friendly. Maybe they were once, but no longer.

Tasty burger. GF bun fell apart as expected, but hey, it's GF bread! I ended up using a fork with much gratitude for a change from "protein style." Use the GF menu to customize your burger. They list the sides which are safe. Burger was very good, fries were ok although others may like this style. Afterwards my villi were happy!

Found this place through this app and wandered in for carry out on a Friday night. Staff was friendly. We did the build your own burgers and picked gf buns and picked our toppings. I asked to confirm that they had a dedicated fryer because I'm celiac and they told me that they normally do, but one of their fryers was down so I shouldn't order the fries. As much as I wanted fries I'm always glad for honesty. I would rather not have them than be sick. We got milk shakes and headed out with our food. The burgers were really good and the buns were totally fine. I was so full that I didn't even miss the fries. I would definitely eat here again. It was expensive, but our burgers and milk shakes were both delicious.

One of the best gluten-free burgers we have run across. My wife has gluten tolerance issues among others and has been missing a good burger, with bun, and fries. We have been getting by with her getting a bunless burger from In-N-Out. The lettuce wrap drips grease and just does not give the same experience as having buns. Most places have bland or just bad gluten-free buns. This place delivered a great meal, burger and fries that taste like a good normal meal. This is a rare find and one my wife value greatly.

The only problem was my burger was not medium which I stressed and they forgot my lettuce. The food and service at The Counter were excellent. The first time I (a celiac) ate here, the manager came out to discuss gluten-free options with me and to show me the ingredients on some of the products used in preparing my meal, to ensure that everything was gluten-free. I wish more places did this. I was also assured that my food was prepared separately, and the wait staff asked if I suffered from a gluten allergy. I loved the fact that I was able to create my own burger/sandwich (I choose to be a vegetarian, so I couldn't have a patty), fries, AND a delicious milkshake for dessert. I definitely recommend this place!
