So nice to have so many GF and DF options. Tried bars, cupcakes, scones, and bread. Favorites were the Caper Parsley Ciabatta (broiled with olive oil) and black forest brownie.
Glorious!! Brownies, cookies, cupcakes. Repeat customer BEFORE I was diagnosed with celiac. Ironic, huh? It's delicious and the owners rock.
Hoping the remodel/move is open soon! We have made three junkets from Lakewood to what my family calls, "The GREAT GLUTEN ESCAPE!" My wife has been a paleo-vegan for 2 1/2 years now and finding this place by accident, while at the Player's Bench hockey store, was a godsend. Each time we visited, we spent about $60 bucks. We got sweet treats, donuts, cupcakes and brownies. But what really impressed my wife were the quality and flavor of the non-sweet breads! "Fantastic they were," said Yoda! The place was clean ans smelled great! On each of our three visits, a different staff person spent all the time we needed to answer our questions and make suggestions. The G.G.E. is an oasis for my wife and my family and very much worth the drive! Out of this galaxy!
Amazing bakery totally dedicated to delicious GF desserts and pastries! I bought some strawberry champagne and lemon blueberry cupcakes for a wedding and they were perfect!
Chocolate donuts are wonderful!
Out of towner that's over the moon with a dedicated GF bakery. BEST chocolate cupcake I have had in a LONG time.
this place is family owned and very knowledgeable. I will definately go back many times
I'm from out of town, found this place online, and did not regret it. Many different dedicated gluten free options, all very tasty. Had donuts and a cinnamon bun for breakfast the first day, and had to go back to stock up before leaving town. Owner is very nice, cares deeply about her business. I just wish they had a place this good close to my house. Then I'd be here all the time.
Awesome. lots of delicious options
Very poor management! Order hot cross buns only to find out that not only were they not cooked they were frozen. We had asked what special they had for easter and indicated this was a good choice. Very disappointed and when asked if they could cook them they said the CV would not. What is the purpose of a bakery if I have to cook it myself. They wreck my morning had to spend all morning to find someplace that has baked goods already cooked that
Awful! I am gluten free and work in DTC. Was very excited to try this place so close to work. I had the red velvet cake cupcake and it was awful. The cupcake was tiny and over priced. The frosting and cupcake itself was gritty in texture and oily. Very very oily. It tasted more like white cake with food coloring. I can make better cupcakes at home with a GF mix. I will not be going back.
Delicious! We tried a bunch of stuff. Cookies, bagels, brownies and cookie bars and all was amazing!!
This place is amazing! I've been there a few times and it's located right off Tamarac (225 and 25), which makes it a really convenient location if I'm coming from Denver or Aurora. Having been off gluten for a couple years now, I've been on a constant search for GF items that taste like the stuff I used to be able to eat, that won't make me violently ill, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. First of all, the bagels are the real deal. There are the traditional flavors, and then a cool citrus/everything combo that I was hesitant to try, but it turned out to be actually amazing. If you get there earlier in the day, they have a basket of "day old" bagels at a reduced price. The rosemary sliced bread is the size of traditional bread (not like the frozen stuff you find at the grocery store made for dolls). I've found that if you freeze it, then put in the microwave for 15 seconds on each side, it warms up nice and soft just like it originally came and much better than putting it in the toaster. It also doesn't start coming apart in a weird stringy mess like another GF bread found in the Denver area. The blueberry muffins are really more like a treat with a yummy frosting drizzled on top. It was a little more dense than I was expecting, but it was good! I tried the Snickerdoodle cookie and it was great (I needed a cookie fix after my rock hard GF Girl Scout cookie disaster), The German Chocolate Brownie got a little messy, but it was worth it. The business doesn't allow outside food/beverages to help prevent cross-contamination, which is great, and they even have lunch there!
Wish they used alternatives to coconut
My mom and daughter and I stopped here, we tried the cookies, cupcakes, donuts, and brownies and we liked them all, our favorite was the cranberry orange cupcake! Yum!!!
Amazing bagels. Pass on the cinnamon rolls tho
We were driving across the country and made a point to stop here. I had a delicious onion bagel with chai tea, then got a bunch of cookies, cupcakes, brownies and cake pops to go. It was wonderful knowing everything was totally me-safe :)
Delicious pretzel chocolate chip bars, amazing pumpkin donuts! Very moist and tasty. Also tried the grain free sugar free bread which was very light and had a fluffy texture, very good toasted! Had a cinnamon roll a whole back that I didn't love (a little hard) but everything else has been fantastic.
This bakery is delicious!
Amazing baked goods. Loved the cakes & cupcakes, need to try the bread next!
I had tried several items including cookies, cupcakes, sandwich bread and bread sticks. Very tasty, great service. Can't put a price on health.
Cinnamon rolls! This place is awesome!
Great cookies and blondies! I visited on a Friday afternoon and there were many options. The cupcake I had was rather dry, but my husband's flavor was moist. Regardless, 100% piece of mind is a wonderful thing. I also like how many things are not in the baked goods and will gladly sacrifice texture for gf and df.
best bakery I've been to
Amazing baked goods. so many options including vegan. The texture is perfect. And the people are very knowledgeable.
I wasn't overly impressed with the cupcakes or the muffins. the dark chocolate brownies, which were supposed to have a fudge like quality, were not quite. they were decent, however. it is nice that everything is dairy free.
This place is amazing. I drive 30 minutes to get here twice a week. The bagels, sandwich bread, and muffins are better than anything that I've ever had with gluten in it. Also, the owner is very accommodating and will specially make you things if you can't have a particular ingredient that is used in the regular recipe.
Excellent allergen free bakery! Very friendly staff. Willing to work with you on whatever food allergy you have. Great tasting treats. The brownies are awesome!!!
I've tried various items from this place several times and the only thing I have liked is the frosting on the cupcakes. The buns I tried were extremely heavy and dry, the cupcakes were grainy, the cinnamon rolls were dry and had a weird flavor and the cookies were extremely dry and sandy. Every item I have tried has been thrown away. I do not recommend this place, do yourself a favor and buy a box mix from the grocery store and make the items yourself...not only cheaper, but will taste far better!
These guys are awesome. They really care about their customers and solicit feedback which gets incorporated. Highly encourage you to visit.
I was excited to find this place during a work trip, however the products are just ok. There are many other better options in the city.
Have been here a few times..will admit it was for the cupcakes and that is all I have tried. They were fantastic, and I am in love with the strawberry cream. Nice to have an option for a birthday cake as well. I want to try some of their other items, but they are on the pricey side. Paid around $7 for 2 cupcakes. (they really were good though!) They have a punch card for frequent shoppers.
When I went in there was a bad smell. There was a sign on the counter that states that some of the ingredients were in contact wheat and that was one of the 'realities'. I chose not to eat anything there because it wasn't worth getting sick for a bad smelling cookie. My sister who eats gf with me all the time had a cookie and was only able to have one bite before she threw it away and deemed it disgusting. For a dedicated gf place, it was major let down. No idea on taste, but if judging on my adventitious sister, who eats most of my failed gf cooking, thinks it was bad, it must have been terrible.
Best place if gluten free. I was lucky enough to find this bakery on a recent trip to Denver. I have to say I was blown away by not only the quality but the dedication to other allergies and eating preferences. I tried two of the cookies as well as the amazing waffles. Don't let the other reviews deter you if you're looking for dairy free / nut free / gluten free.
One if my clients is also gluten free and the breads and deserts she make are so much closer to normal tasting. I had a focaccia bread, granola bar, cake pop and doughnut from this place and the only thing I could finish was the granola bar. It's expensive and I threw it away :(
I can't say I like this place. I've stopped here a number of times during business hours and they are never open.
I stop at this place every time I have to go into the Tech Center and am never disappointed. Delicious pastries that I am not able to come across in the stores and I just don't have the patience to come up with some of the stuff they make. Thank you Gluten Escape!
Friendly staff and a loyalty punch card doesn't hurt either. I love the cookie brownie and the gingerbread birthday cake was sublime! The vanilla cake and the gummy-textured "doughnut" didn't quite make the cut though. The doughnut was free as she was just testing it out, and would have been better with powdered sugar and not course granulated stuff that feels weird on my teeth. But the brownie was so good that I forgive them!
wonderful baked goods.
They weren't terrible, but it's not the best bakery we've been to. The items weren't as flavorful as I anticipated. The mock peanut butter cookie was great, as well as the chocolate chip.
I had high hopes since the reviews are so good. I must've gone on an off day. I got four different items and they were all mediocre to bad. The chocolate raspberry cupcake had a bad taste and weird texture. I had a brownie which tasted good, not great, but again, weird gummy texture. In fact, the texture was the main problem with everything. The cinnamon roll was like a hard muffin, with very little flavor. The whole thing was a huge disappointment, but I commend them for their wide variety and friendliness.
amazing Brownies, l had the egg free ones and they were fantastic, a must try!!!!
Great options and great food. everything is gluten free dairy free at the minimum, with a lot of choices for gluten free vegans as well.
Great place to go if you're just craving to have that bread or sweet tooth craving filled. Fresh baked bread, cookies and other things. I also got a loaf of their Rosemary-garlic bread. Soooooo good!
cinnamon rolls the best
Mint cupcakes are delightful! Wish there were sandwiches and more of a menu to walk in and eat.
I love this bakery! I try to go once a week to get myself a little treat, and I've loved everything so far! The lemon cupcakes, and the chocolate cupcake with the espresso frosting was awesome! I'm so excited to go back and get more!
