The Little Gem Saloon

Compared to other reviews, it seems as if I got the wrong waiter. I asked which menu options were gluten free. He said he wasn't sure and would have to check with the chef. Fine, I'd prefer him to, to be sure. He returns and states only the salads can be gluten free. I do ask about the shrimp and grits, as suggested in previous reviews. No such luck. I ordered a salad (with 3 shrimp) and enjoy dinner because of the atmosphere, wonderful live jazz music and great company.

I cannot express how amazing the staff here was to me and my family. the chef came out and went through the menu with me and explained to me how he would keep my food separate and safe. our server was so friendly and helpful. I did not feel like I was annoying or difficult at all. we know that is a rare feeling. to top it off the food was out of this world delicious! I haven't even had a bit of reaction since eating there today! oh yeah free jazz music too!

Highly recommend! Staff was incredibly welcoming and very celiac knowledgeable/ accommodating. No specific gluten free menu but they clearly knew exactly what could and couldn't be made gluten-free. The go-to gluten free recommendation was the shrimp and grits which was absolutely incredible!

Visited little gem saloon to watch Kermit Ruffins and to enjoy a nice meal while visiting New Orleans. We were sat directly in front of the stage and the show was amazing! Our server brought me menu that the chef had written on specifying what menu items were gluten free. Our server was able to explain how some of the items were prepared making me feel confident in my choice. I went with the shrimp and grits and my fiancé ordered the scallops with pea risotto. Both dishes were out of this world! I highly recommend visiting the Little Gem Saloon when in NOLA!
