The Original Pancake House

This restaurant received some really bad reviews over the last couple of years so I was tempted to pass on trying it!

Terri greeted me at the door with a huge smile. I informed her that I was GF and she assured me she would provide me with a delicious meal without making me sick!

It was a fabulous breakfast!

The waitress said the GF options on the menu were not prepared separately and were not celiac safe. I asked if they could do just a fried egg and they did but they wouldn’t recommend anything else.

I got very sick from here! They promised gluten free pancakes. I asked multiple people and even double checked when they were served. They tasted to good to be true and they were!! I spent the rest of the day throwing up. Don’t take a chance here.

The staff was amazing! Very sweet and understanding about celiac. (They cook on separate grills for us celiacs) the pancakes are GF, and the hashbrowns are too (I asked to be sure and they didn't put any seasoning) overall I am satisfied :) they are unsure about their syrup, so make sure you bring some GF pancake syrup from home!

Waitress was knowledgeable, but of course that's hit or miss in such a busy place. I asked where the GF pancakes are cooked and she went to double check and I was told they have a separate grill for gluten free. I had the two by four, which is two eggs and four pancakes. I also had an order of hashbrowns which I asked to be cooked on the GF grill just in case. The pancakes were delicious! So much so that I had to double check that they were indeed GF. They arrived with a little toothpick flag in them and we're noticeably different from my husband's gluten pancakes though. The waitress told me they have another celiac customer that brings her Nima tester in and has never had a problem.

My son loves their pancakes and waffle, very casual

Returned hear again while visiting my grandma. Their gluten free menu is much larger now! Gf Belgian waffles, pancakes, crepes, eggs Benedict and more! The Belgian waffle was incredible!!!! Party our server was great and knowledgeable! Great experience once again.

Got sick from the veggie sausages and it was completely awful. Not gluten free friendly.

The gluten-free pancakes were solid and appreciated. They have fresh blueberry syrup also which was terrific.

OK here's my honest review going to the Original Pancake House with Celiac. They have several gluten free options, which is super cool. They can make any pancake gluten free, however, I have no idea what ingredients are in their add ons for pancakes and honestly I'm not sure the wait staff fully knows either. Due to that lack of confidence, I ordered plain GF pancakes. They tasted excellent and I highly recommend. The caveat is how sensitive are you and how willing are you to take a legit chance in potentially getting glutened? They do cook the pancakes on a separate griddle, but they use the same cooking utensil as regular pancakes, so the potential is there for cross contamination. I would avoid the waffles because they are cooked in the same waffle iron. I took a chance on the pancakes and I think I will be safe. I would stay away from ANY sides as they are cooked on the same griddled as the gluten foods. If I get glutened I am confident it is because I did not ask the right questions related to meat prep BEFORE I took a bite of the ham I ordered. So if you decide to roll the dice on this one and hope against hope because you just want to have a "normal" meal out with your family because celiac is HARD, I would recommend sticking with straight up GF plain pancakes.
