I may have just gotten lucky with the manager on shift, but I had a wonderful experience here! We noted on our reservation that I had Celiac. The host acknowledged this and briefly pointed out their GF options. When we got to the table, the manager immediately stopped by to let us know she was aware that I had celiac and confirmed the GF options noted on the menu and said all the meats were also GF. She told me they had a separate space on the griddle and were very cautious of cross contact which made me feel assured. And then even after that when our waiter came by, the manager grabbed him to reiterate that I had Celiac and she told him that when he put our order in, to let her know so she could make sure the kitchen was aware. I had the pecan pancakes and sausage on the side and they were both delicious!! The food also came out in a different colored plate. Besides GF pancakes, they had waffles, French toast, and crepes- all in multiple flavors!! This was one of the most attentive managers I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant and it was greatly appreciated. Oh- and they do not up-charge for gluten free which is unheard of in my experience!!

UPDATE: have been violently sick for two days i wouldn’t touch it again with a ten foot pole
got sick almost immediately- food was delicious though, and they have separate plates for gf meals so it’s possible it was just cross contamination in my case

Many Original Pancake House locations offer gluten free pancakes. Please speak to your server about taking the proper precautions to prevent cross contamination, if necessary.
I got sick by the end of the meal. I have had luck with OPH in general but this location doesn't seem to take the same precautions. They brought my gf plate out with the non gf waffle (same server, same hands).

Delicious pancakes, and they come out marked as GF for extra confidence! Mine didn’t come out on a GF plate the first time, and when I asked, they brought it back and made a new one just to make sure.

There were so many options: waffles, pancakes, French toast. I got the cinnamon French toast and bacon, and it was amazing! I kept saying that I wished it was just a little bit gross, so I knew for sure it was GF. It tasted non-GF, and I was worried I somehow got the wrong food. (I didn’t.) My food came out on a yellow plate; all other plates were white, and I was assured it was cooked on separate GF cookware - without even having to ask! I would 100% recommend this place. (I have celiac.)

We ordered delivery and my ordered was not done as gluten free. I confirmed by calling. We have normally had very good experiences and the manager did credit the meal. Be sure to check if you order delivery.

I love how many options I have here! Their french toast is delicious. It's the only place around where I have choice between pancakes, waffles, french toast, and crepes! I come here quite often.

Wow, it’s standard procedure to send a manager over to walk through menu/order and talk about kitchen prep! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

This location is good about supporting gluten free option for celiac. The staff was knowledgeable and food was great!

I don’t know why this place has such good reviews. My gluten free pancakes were raw, and the “tropical syrup” was just orange peels in syrup. The service was terrible, and we had to wait fifty minutes for our food. Even then, they didn’t bring out half of our food until we were already done eating. Will not be returning.
We’ll be back! And they do “take out”! But for this app, I would not have considered going here for GF food, since it certainly doesn’t sound safe. It is safe! Server explained GF is clearly marked on the menu (& it’s almost everything!) and is served on yellow plates - always make sure that happens. For naturally GF food like eggs, make sure to tell the server you need it prepared GF & celiac safe. My omelette was huge & fluffy (more like a round egg bake, not thin & folded over) & I took 1/2 home. It came with 3 full sized GF pancakes which were delicious. My son gobbled up the GF chocolate chip pancakes, a staple he hasn’t been able to have since pre-diagnosis. It’s sweetened, whipped cream made it perfect for him. He also had the chicken chipotle crepe & was impressed at how good it was, & it was spicy, not bland. Non-celiac daughter raved about her raspberry French toast. Receipt properly showed what needed to be GF, and it was affordable! Like I said - we’ll be back. They were only serving the “breakfast menu” this Sunday. I’m curious what their lunch menu has on it.
Yes
GF pancakes and crepes! All GF items marked on menu. GF meal is ALWAYS served on a colored plate, while others come on white. I have eaten here several times now and have been safe every time. As a super sensitive Celiac, this means a lot to me.
Yes
Very understanding about GF items, lots of choices, knowledgeable staff, and the food tastes great. Any of the pancakes are tasty and good texture, I just wish they had GF Buckwheat. The only draw back is their popularity means a lot of rude and entitled people who don't like to wait and take it out on other customers and staff. Go on a weekday to avoid the passive aggressive suburban soccer mom's from hell.
Separate kitchen prep area, good experience

I had high expectations reading the reviews before coming here but was very disappointed. I explained to the waitress that I have celiac disease and they need to use new pans and utensils etc. I ordered eggs, sausage links and hash browns and confirmed with her they were all gluten free. It came out on a normal white plate (pretty sure their GF food comes out on colored plates). I was hesitant but starving so I ate it nonetheless (obviously should’ve followed my gut and been more careful). My receipt did not have an allergy alert or anything so I know she didn’t tell the kitchen. Well I definitely got glutened as I’ve been in the bathroom since. Very disappointed with the service. I will be calling tomorrow when they open back up to let their manager know and hope this doesn’t happen again. Also they don’t have a separate GF menu so it is very confusing to know what is GF and what isn’t, the only thing labeled as available as GF is their pancakes, waffles, and crepes and not the naturally GF things like eggs, potatoes etc. I really hope they get a separate GF menu to make it more clear for those of us with celiac disease and uncertain about their menu.
The bacon pancakes were great! They were able to make them without milk for me. Can't wait to come back and try the gf crepes!
Yes
Celiac safe, they have a very specific routine and organization system to make sure everyone from the kitchen to the table knows which plates have allergies. I had a savory crepe, it was delicious. Large hearty portions.

Very knowledgeable management and staff. This particular location has separate waffle irons and prep for the GF products and GF items will be served on different-color plates. Check with managers for egg dishes and specials - they’re happy to help. I eat here almost weekly and never have problems. :)

Excellent service. Ate here twice for the GF crepes. Heaven!
I eat at this dinner every time I'm in town. Their menu is simple and their plan to prevent cross contamination awesome. I have never gotten sick from eating there (unless you count eating way to much). Best gluten pancakes around. The only breakfast joint I have found in 3 states that is awesome and delicious.

One of my favorite places to go. Their bacon is incredible. Their omelette are to die for. The pancakes are yummy. The crepes are fabulous. The coffee is phenomenal. I've never been sick or unhappy with them. Service is always exceptional. I'm passionate about this place!!

Best breakfast EVER! Went here on vacation and was so impressed with helpful waitstaff and GF menu. We had GF strawberry crepes, GF Apple crepes, GF chocolate and blueberry pancakes... All delicious. I highly recommend this place.
This place is wonderful! The wait staff were very helpful and nice and the GF options were great! They had much more than I expected. The crepes were delicious! I was happily surprised. I will definitely be coming back here and would recommend it to anyone!

Got sick from the veggie sausages and it was completely awful. Not gluten free friendly.
The gluten-free pancakes were solid and appreciated. They have fresh blueberry syrup also which was terrific.

OK here's my honest review going to the Original Pancake House with Celiac. They have several gluten free options, which is super cool. They can make any pancake gluten free, however, I have no idea what ingredients are in their add ons for pancakes and honestly I'm not sure the wait staff fully knows either. Due to that lack of confidence, I ordered plain GF pancakes. They tasted excellent and I highly recommend. The caveat is how sensitive are you and how willing are you to take a legit chance in potentially getting glutened? They do cook the pancakes on a separate griddle, but they use the same cooking utensil as regular pancakes, so the potential is there for cross contamination. I would avoid the waffles because they are cooked in the same waffle iron. I took a chance on the pancakes and I think I will be safe. I would stay away from ANY sides as they are cooked on the same griddled as the gluten foods. If I get glutened I am confident it is because I did not ask the right questions related to meat prep BEFORE I took a bite of the ham I ordered. So if you decide to roll the dice on this one and hope against hope because you just want to have a "normal" meal out with your family because celiac is HARD, I would recommend sticking with straight up GF plain pancakes. Hope that helps you all! Have a good day!
