I love The Waterside! There aren't a lot of options in Haddington for Coeliacs, but I always feel safe at the Waterside Bistro. Everyone here is SO kind, and so helpful when discussing the menu. The menu is not labeled with gluten free options, but everyone is knowledgable. They have separate fryers, gluten free breading on their fish & chips, and I was once told that they are working to make more and more items GF. I HIGHLY recommend to everyone.
There are certain things to note: There aren't any gf bread options, so I will occasionally have a lettuce-wrapped burger. They will bring out gf oatcakes instead of bread. Dessert options are VERY limited.

Excellent place to go - most things are GF and those that are not they are happy to adapt where possible. Very attentive and made me feel very at ease and not a second class citizen! Dessert menu was however limited.

Lovely place to visit and all dishes appear to be GF. The fish and chips were excellent!

Staff were very knowledgeable about what options were available, and it turns out that most of the menu was gluten free, even down to things like GF gravy. I had haddock and chips. There were options for battered or breaded, and both were gluten-free as standard. Chips were in a dedicated fryer and the server volunteered this information before I had to ask so I felt they knew what they were doing. The batter was lovely and crispy and it was a generous portion. I could have had a choice of a couple of different desserts too but I was full by then. Definitely one to recommend!
