The Works

We came to The Works in Pickering with 2 celiac family members. There were lots of gf options (including gravy!), as well as a dedicated fryer and grill. Lots of milkshake options for dessert too. Our server was happy to double check with the kitchen regarding our questions. The food quality was fantastic and huge portions! Would definitely recommend!

I have celiac and was able to eat safely. Staff is knowledgeable but be aware, not all toppings are gf as listed. Ex - Bacon sticks are coated and fried in their fryers which are not dedicated so therefore not safe for celiacs. Yummy meal that my whole family enjoyed.

They have an allergen list on their website - by burger combos and not by topping.

Staff informed me that not only did they have gluten free buns but also that the fries are gluten free! I didn’t get sick afterwards which was a huge relief! Glad that I now have somewhere to go for burgers and fries :)

LOVE The Works and this location! I enjoy havig a burger with a bun. The staff is happy to tweak burgers to be gf and to my liking. As it's 5 min from home I am here often!

The buns are not great, need to be careful about cross contamination.

We had a great meal here. The food is delicious and there are many options for a celiac friendly meal. I phoned ahead about the fries and asked when I got there and both times I was told they use a designated fryer. I see some of the reviews say the opposite - so I guess it's worth looking in to!

As a celiac sufferer I really enjoy it here. I've never gotten sick after eating here. The burgers are great and there are lots of options. The servers are all knowledge about gluten free options which is nice. The only downside is that I can't have fries because they don't have a dedicated fryer

The staff were very knowledgeable about their menu. They were happy to accommodate my needs: they even used new mayo to avoid cross contamination!

Place is amazing. No dedicated fryers so all the "gluten free sides" are not truly gluten free because of prep. But the burgers are amazing and the best buns I've ever had!

I'm currently sitting at works in Pickering ..... Service very very slow only been waiting for 1 hour for a burger not impressed

the works is my favourite restaurant to go to! gluten free buns for the burgers which are probably the best burgers I've ever had and their fries and other sides are gluten free too. the gravy is also gluten free - get baked poutin is amazing!

Have not been there yet, but have emailed with manager. He has been very open about food prep and friendly about my questions. Fryers are not GF so no fries :(

BEST FRIES IN NEWMARKET. They have a great lunch deal, $15 for a burger, side and pop. The burger was 4oz I believe, but it was the right size for a filling lunch. Their fries are bottomless, and I could not get enough of them. Crispy and salty, but still very potatoey. Our waitress let us know they’re fried in a dedicated fryer, and are cut in house. Their gluten free bun wasn’t my favourite, and fell apart a little, but $1.50 up charge wasn’t the best. They serve the pop in measuring cups, which was neat, and very fizzy. I highly recommend stopping by. The onion rings are very crispy, an extra $4 and not gluten free, but you can hear a very audible crunch.

Fantastic burgers, very knowledgeable and accommodating staff. Shout out to Tammy our waitress for recommending a near by Gf bakery. Great experience and food.
