Tin Roof is hit or miss depending on if the staff knows proper Celiac/GF protocol to prevent cross contamination . Our experience last Friday was that they called out Celiac/GF but the one guy who touches the meat and tortillas did NOT change his gloves so our entire family of 4 who ate the takeout got sickened. Even missed a day of work that cost us between $300-700 due to gluten reaction. The food is delish but the staff needs proper training if Tin Roof wants to offer GF food that’s safe for someone with Celiac Disease.

I’ve eaten here about 5 times. Love the tacos. Love that they call out Celiac for your order. They are very aware. I bring my own chips. Their salsa is delicious. Just noticed they have queso and it is gluten free. Going back soon.

They have corn tortillas and a dedicated 'celiac' option where they take extra precautions preparing the food.

Excellent tacos. All corn tortillas and most tacos are gf. Order was written under celiac and precautions were taken. Delicious & budget friendly!

They used foil on their grills, and bar area, swapped out their gloves and separated the tacos on different trays.

Yum! Great place! My tacos are always awesome! We eat here all the time. I find they are extremely careful with the gloves, etc. They use a separate pan for gluten free taco shells.

Was a bit nervous given the variety of reviews. When I mentioned I had celiac she said she marks it on my order and proceeded to yell “celiac” to the kitchen. I had ordered with other people and mine came out on a separate try. I had the pulled pork tacos and they were tasty

All staff were very knowledgeable and changed gloves/cleaned workspace before making my food. I had grilled fish, fajita chicken, and pork street tacos. Delicious and no reaction - I am extremely sensitive so I feel like if I can eat it anyone can.

Amazing tacos. NOT celiac friendly!! The guy taking our order said everything is 98% gluten free. Flour tortillas used for quesadillas and the shrimp are usually deep fried but can be grilled to be gf. While I trust most their food is gf, they are not careful about cross contamination at all!! No hand washing or glove changing between customers, my “gf” shrimp was grilled with my kids’ flour quesadilla, everything was wrapped in separate foil, but piled in one bag together with gluten items, no glove changes in between wrapping g + gf foods. Already feeling the side effects tonight after eating there this afternoon. Will not be returning.

Apparently eggs, bacon, potatoes, and tortillas are all cross contaminated and the staff told me AFTER I got glutened. There is no reason to go here if you need truly gluten-free food.

This place is awesome. Food is amazing and they take great care if you’re Celiac. Hands down one of my go to places in Boise.
Yes
After telling the cashier that I was celiac I proceeded to order 3 different types of tacos, chips and salsa. The cashier brought up the chips are fried in the same fryers and cross contamination is an issue so we scratched the chips. She yelled “3 celiac” and my order went out. They changed gloves and did a great job of being careful. However, one of the tacos ordered, Baja shrimp, is not gluten free unless the shrimp are grilled. This was not disclosed when ordered or on the menu. When the order was placed “celiac” was written under each taco which went through at least three people and no one caught the fact that they were serving a taco with gluten to a celiac. It was not until after I received the order and looked at the breading on the shrimp that I caught it. This is not safe practice and they should be doing a better job of training their employees. Unsafe for celiacs.

The staff was very aware of celiac. I asked if the barbecue sauce was gluten free and they asked if I was celiac and then they made sure the chefs and kitchen knew so they could prepare my tacos separately and in the proper way. Very tasty, and celiac safe.

Stopped by on the way through town based on the good reviews. These guys know their stuff and the staff was ridiculously helpful. They do indeed call out celiac with your order if you tell them you have it. My husband also has an onion allergy and they were knowledgeable and helpful with that also! Friendly employees, celiac safe, and good food, what more could you want?
Yes
Knowledgeable and safe. I love that they call out your order like “2 #1’s Celiac”!

This is a wonderful option for those who crave street tacos. There are more menu items that you can have than those that are off limits. Everything I've had is delicious and I've never felt sick from it. They change their gloves and use care to not cross contaminate.
If you're shy about your special dietary needs, you may want to only go when it's not too busy. If you go there when they're slammed (e.g. during the lunchtime rush), they will loudly call out "CELIAC SPECIAL!"

Staff is knowledgeable regarding gluten free. Food is enjoyable, in particular, their queso is super tasty.

Wow finally great tacos that I can trust are truly gluten free! This place is awesome and they take the gluten issue seriously. Absolutely awesome. Try the food it's delicious. We drive from about 20 miles away just to eat here. Gourmet type tacos super delicious.
Food was great! Staff was super knowledgeable, even offered to change gloves without me asking. They could easily sub corn tortillas for anything.
