Great sandwiches and soup! Really just so nice to be able to eat an actual sandwich. Good food and nice staff
Great grilled cheese! They even warned me that the creamy tomato basil soup isn't GF.
Very informed on Celiac Disease. Founder's wife has CD.
They were very careful in putting on new gloves and using a completely clean space to make my grilled cheese on the gluten free bread. They were familiar with celiac and asked about it.
I love this place! Whenever you order gluten free bread they have always asked "allergy or preference?"
The last two times I was here I was made to feel uncomfortable with my gluten free request. The first time I was told they were probably to busy to pull someone off the line to make my sandwich. The cashier had to go 'ask' if they could accommodate me. I felt singled-out and embarrassed that now everyone in line knew my allergy and my order. Plus, I was now holding-up the line which also made me uncomfortable. The second time, I was also told by the cashier that they stopped the gluten free offering for the time-being because they were to busy. There was no one else in line this time, but had two people waiting for food. They later told me they would make my sandwich but I had to wait an additional 20 minutes. Both times I wasn't sure if I had to leave with no meal. I am grateful to have a restaurant accommodate my allergy (I have celiac), BUT, if you are advertising that you serve gluten free, please do not make us feel like #^+% when we drive 40 minutes just to have a sandwich like a 'regular' person. It's hard enough....
I watched them change gloves before they made our food and the sandwich was on gluten free bread but was covered in fried onions despite being ordered without them. Thankfully my son is old enough to know to check his food before he eats. They were apologetic but it could have been really bad. Our other sandwich was fine.
Used to love going here for lunch they had a lot of options. Last time I went I was informed that they could do gluten free bread but they could not prepare and cook it separately anymore during the lunch rush. They said that they couldn't pull someone off the line to cook my food so I left hungry and very disappointed.
The service and food was great. We have a family of 5. We all ordered gf bread sandwiches. There was an option to add meat and veggies to the grilled cheese. Great idea. Sides are gf friendly as well including 3 different kinds of fresh salads or tomato soup. Thanks Tom & Chee. P. S. The staff was very knowledgable down to the flavor of cheese. A dedicated griddle was utilized for the gf orders.
While on vacation, i decided to take the suggestion of this app and go here. As someone with Celiac and rather sensitive, I was pleasantly surprised here. Not only was the food excellent, but they even apologized for "the wait" of my order (which wasn't long at all). Their reason was because of preparing it separately to avoid contamination. HUGE koodos for that. If one opens near me, I will be a regular.
The owner was who waited on us. She was amazingly understanding of my daughter's Celiac Disease & Lactose Intolerance. She took the GF bread and made the sandwich in a separate area to avoid cross-contamination. She also gave her a bowl of mixed fresh fruit for free, so that she could enjoy dessert with us.
I was very pleased with the grilled cheese and soup! they were very knowledgeable about the cheeses that were not Gluten Free, but you will have to make sure to ask which ones are. the food was great and I did not feel sick afterwards and that is a rare thing for me! Good Job!! A++
We were visiting family in Kennesaw and are limited on options to eat out due to my son having celiac disease. We had a great experience here and they even brought us over 3 free desserts! The staff were knowledgeable when I asked them about which items were gluten free and knew to ask if it was an allergy with each order. The manager also stopped by our table to ask us how our food was and if we enjoyed the desserts!
Love love love!!! Everything I have tried is soo good and they seem well educated on the food prep for allergies. If you ask for gluten free they will ask if it's choice or allergy. As of June 1st they came out with more options for gluten free as well as a donut!! I can't wait to go soon :)
I have been here lots of times and have never gotten sick. They ask if you are GF due to allergy or preference. GF orders are prepared on a separate griddle. Soups are GF as well. The first time I ate here I had to double check that my meal was gluten free - it was better than how i remembered grilled cheese. Too bad because the cashiers always complain when I tell them my order is gluten free. I will go somewhere else where they don't groan and roll their eyes at me
My child was exposed to gluten here as a result of the cashier indicating that all chips were gluten free. My 3 kids grabbed chips and sat down while I filled drinks. When I got back to the table I saw that my 9 year old, with allergies, was eating Rold Gold (wheat) pretzels. I told the cashier and she didn't even apologize. This is our first dining experience since she was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and it was not a good experience.
I am a celiac and I felt safe here. They have a different setup for GF preference or GF 'allergy.' If you don't tell them 'allergy' there could be some CC. If you tell them allergy, they have a separate grill and area of the kitchen. The food was delicious and I felt safe.
I ordered a gluten free kids meal for my Celiac daughter and stressed the importance of it not coming into contact with other gluten. Cashier was clueless and had to have a guy from the back come up. He assured me that gluten free was prepared in its own area. So cashier asks "what kind of bread would you like on that?" Ugh! The guy took over and when it was delivered to the table it had a pack of crackers on it. Next time we will go to Azzip where we never have a problem.
The first time I went I ordered a sandwich with one cheese that isn't gluten free and I was notified that the order could make me sick before they started making the sandwich.. the second time, I forgot what kind of cheese isn't gluten free and the order took 20 minutes to get to the table and it made me terribly sick.
Outstanding grilled cheese and three types of GF tomato soup. You choose your bread, type of cheese and other toppings. They have suggestions like BLT with diced tomatoes and bacon. Pesto turkey. GF potato chips available. Bread is baked off site and is thick and soft and yummy. Not a skinny slice of Udi's. Kids loved it as much as adults.
Yum! Tom + Chee boasts delicious gluten free options- including salads, grilled cheese (on Udi's bread), soup, and more. I enjoyed my meal and was comforted by the fact that the staff seemed quite knowledgeable. As soon as we quickly mentioned celiac disease, the cashier nodded and said they would treat it like a food allergy. Also, their menu had little gluten free symbols next to safe items. I also liked that the restaurant left out a bag of oyster crackers on my plate (at least I know they're attentive!). I would recommend this yummy casual quick restaurant.
The have a separate storage space for GF ingredients, the chefs change gloves and they have a dedicated griddle. Their tomato soups are GF. Their pesto is allergen friendly using sunflower seeds instead of pine nuts.
CHANGED REVIEW **UPDATE**on 3/18/16 I ate here and ordered as I usually do and my food came with crackers on the tray. Told them I could no longer eat anything due to possible CC the cashier seemed confused and asked if this was an allergy. I said I have celiac so yes I can NOT eat gluten hence gluten free bread. The owner the proceeded to dump the soup back into the communal soup bin on the line. I then watched them make me a new sandwich which they made from communal ingredients as well as cooked my gluten free sandwich on the gluten grill. When she brought me the sandwich I asked if that was actually what I was seeing instead of them using fresh toppings from the fridge and dedicated ingredients, and she said yes. I then told her I couldn't eat that and that now I wanted a refund as I was sure I wasn't safe eating here. I then spoke to the OWNER Seth and asked why if an order is ordered with gluten free bread that it isn't prepared as corporate told me it should...in a dedicated area with dedicated equipment and topping from the fridge. He explained that they ask if it is allergy or preference now because people who order it by preference were complaining it was taking too long to cook. I explained that isn't the process corporate said should be followed and secondly I was NOT asked allergy or preference. He didn't seem to care, he seemed to care more about catering to the FAD dieters. I was then offered a DONUT gift card for my inconvenience. I was appalled and ended up leaving with my refund. CAUTION TO ANY WITH CELIAC EATING HERE! I have a call into corporate. TO NOTE...if they follow protocol then why when I sent it back and informed her this was "an allergy" did they still make it with NO precautions.
The staff here are very polite and surprisingly well-informed for how young they all seem. They are the ones who taught me to just say "gluten allergy" instead of trying to explain celiac disease, because if the word allergy is mentioned the facility is legally obligated to handle your food differently than if you say "intolerance". They have a separate grill and are very careful to keep mixed orders separated. This winter I wanted soup-and-grilled-cheese so bad I thought I would cry, but I am so glad to have found Tom + Chee!
