You guys. I got gluten free / dairy free pizza and almost cried it was so, so good. The server was knowledgeable about what items I couldn't have. This was such a good experience !

GOATED SPOT
Gf hazy ipa, ON TAP. pizza and HOMEMADE pasta available, both are fantastic. Gluten free deep dish pizza is to die for, absolute must not miss. Vegan cheese is also on offer and actually melts and tastes delicious.
Also my coeliac sister had no reaction
Do not skip this absolute institution!!

Pizza was lovely, the base was nice and crisp. The waitress wasn't phased by me ordering gluten-free.

Had a Sicilian pepperoni. Very poofy crust. Enjoyed it and would order again. If you’re craving pizza—this does the work. [I wasn’t in a position to assess safety]

Gluten-free bread sticks were awesome and they had vegan cheese for the pizza also :)
Best gluten free pizza I have ever had! The dough was fluffy!! Asked if it was preference or allergy so that they could use separate oven if necessary. They also have gluten free pasta and chicken parm!

I can’t believe I payed $35 for a soggy crusted margarita pizza. I get it tue gluten free tax is high, but after waiting 3 times as long as my gluten eating peers, the cauliflower crust was sad, greasy, clumpy, gluey, and crumbly at once. I remember getting yeast rice and corn crusts years ago, but those gentle crunchy crusts were far from the over priced greasy glue I got today.

I’ve eaten here a bunch of times - takeout and dine in. The Detroit/Sicilian pan pizza is amazing and they cook it in its own pan so the CC risk is low. They have warnings all over the menu about CC. Some servers are great - they will undertake to tell the kitchen staff about the celiac and they do their best. And then others will basically tell you not to eat there. It’s definitely a dine at your own risk. The take out I am less confident that the messages get passed on to the kitchen - it seemed the woman working the till would rather that I just leave and starve than attempt to accommodate. All that said I haven’t got sick from there. I just wish they’d have some consistency with their staff.

Have eaten here 2 times and felt fine both times with no skin reactions which I tend to have. Get the detroit style crust which has extra cheese baked over the crust and you will not regret it, one of the most amazing pizza I have ever had! Both times I have been in service is not great and they are very busy so takeout may be better.

Every time I get the chance to visit Tony’s I’m blown away by the gluten free options. Most servers will talk to you and if they won’t ask for their manager! Great spot!

I had the GF pizza which was only okay. They had gluten free “breadsticks” which were just the pizza crust cut into strips. They have a section on their menu where they say they take it seriously.

The thick crust pizza here in UNREAL. It doesn’t even taste gluten free, it’s so buttery and fluffy. My sister, who is also gluten free, got the mozzarella Parmesan made gluten free. Both dishes were remarkable and impossible to find anywhere else. The gluten free bread sticks weren’t the best, pretty sure they were just thin crust pizza with honey on the side, but for $5 it’s not much to complain about. 10/10!

Amazing GF thick/Sicilian pizza crust!! (I don't need to worry about cross contamination.) Best GF crust I have ever had and with amazing service.

GF pizza and “bread sticks” were awful! The crust is something pre-made, it’s very thin, and mealy. They used it for the pizza as well as the bread sticks. I wish I could post my photo of them. It was such a pitiful excuse for bread sticks that we just laughed and closed the box. Tony’s is definitely not the place for good GF food in SanFrancisco.

they offer both gf thin crust and pan pizza. said they couldn’t guarantee no cross-contamination but that they would clean everything/ cook the pizza in a clean pan, etc. i’ve eaten here twice now with no reaction
AVOID. Got sick after eating lunch. 1h30min later i was throwing up in the bathroom. Ordered "gf" pizza and spaghettis. This hasn't happened to me before for at least 4 years. (I'm coeliac)
No
Great pizza and GF bread sticks. There are good menu GF options, but the menu is also clear about cross contamination risks.
Living around the block I've tried everything on the menu.... - Any pasta you get, you will be safe. They change the water / pot when you order. - I've had the pizza / bread sticks 3 times and got sick all 3 times. If you're celiac I would stay away from those.
Not Celiac friendly. I called ahead to check on their kitchen practices and they assured me they were very safe. Our server seemed very cavalier about notifying the kitchen of the allergy. I was sick before I even left the restaurant. Would not recommend. Also, GF breadsticks are just the GF pizza crust with nothing on them. Not worth it.

The gluten free pizza crust was amazing!
Despite reading numerous positive reviews of Tony’s Pizza, I have gotten extremely ill after eating a supposedly ‘gluten free’ pizza at this restaurant. I have not been this sick from gluten in a long time. While this restaurant is of high quality in general, I would definitely not be recommending it for people with celiac disease.
No
Amazing glutenfree pizzas, glutenfree crust can be ordered for many of the pizzas (charge $5 extra for this) Pizzas are same size as regular ones. Also glutenfree spaghetti, bread sticks and beer. Helpful waitress
Yes
First clerk I worked with was clueless, so I almost left. But the girl with black hair and glasses was terrific. She told me they just started making a GF Detroit style pizza, so I got that. Extremely expensive (~$40), but man, it was good. Like others have said, look for the white box with no logo.
Yes
Ordered takeout from here tonight while on vacation. They must have given me the wrong pizza even though I put multiple notes about being celiac/gluten issues. I am not overly sensitive to small amounts but have severe reactions to regular gluten items (obviously). Horrible night!

Love this place!!! Delicious gf pizza in an awesome part of SF!
Yes
Helpful waitress, delicious GF pizza and great cocktails. No reaction!
The staff was super friendly and helpful! Best gluten free pizza I’ve had! They can’t promise 0 cc but me and my mom (both celiacs) are there and didn’t get or sick or have any problems!
Yes
So delicious! I got just a plain old pepperoni pizza (I’m boring) but it was so yummy. The crust was cooked perfectly. Only issue was that they were super busy. Glad we waited though-well worth it. You can also order to go at their place next door.
Yes
My GF pizza was absolutely superb! I can’t remember the name of it but It was one with the award winning cup by it, I would love to go back if I return to SF, we also shard a salad and that was great too
Yes
Best pizza we’ve ever had! Highly recommend coming here. Must try the artichoke joe gf pizza, it was by far the greatest tasting pizza we’ve ever tasted. A bit of a long wait, waited 40 minutes for table then almost another 40 for pizza, but was well worth it!
Yes
Amazing pizza baked in a gf oven!
Yes
Excellent place! We ate at the bar because it was so busy. Atmosphere excellent. Non-GF pizza delicious and server very attentive with regards to coeliac food, stating it was cooked in its own GF pan and... it was delicious!
Yes
One of the best gf crusts I’ve ever had!!!!! We had the Cal Italia pizza on the gf crust. Amazing!!! Not sure about cross contamination because we aren’t that sensitive but the menu does state it’s a shared kitchen and there can be so if you are extremely sensitive, I’d ask further questions.
Long long long wait for a table but you can walk around and they’ll text you. Pizza was good and not chewy or hard at all. Great texture. I’m pretty sure it is the Mariposa crust. The breadsticks are just cut up crust so probably not worth it.
Really good pizza and coeliac friendly. We were concerned as The menu does have a warning to say kitchen may have remnants of flour, however my wife is extremely sensitive and she was absolutely fine. Staff also very friendly
Yes
amazing pizza ever! Expect to have a very long wait but totally worth it!
We ordered using Uber eats and our order arrived correct to our hotel room with two gluten free pizzas, gluten free breadsticks, and a regular pizza. One pizza we needed goat cheese instead of regular cheese. Seemed expensive as there were add on fees but then again we didn’t have to find parking in the rain and wait. The gluten free pizzas had limited items that could be put on them - use the Uber eats app not the menu online to order correctly. All was excellent. We were just glad they got the complicated order correct.
If you order a gluten free pizza for delivery, make sure it comes in a solid white box with no branding or anything on it. Otherwise you may eat a full slice before realizing the texture does not seem gluten free. When I called the restaurant to confirm, they were not very helpful or apologetic but did confirm if the box says Tony's on top, it is NOT gluten free. So now I'm waiting to get sick, have no dinner, and am out $30.
Best gluten free pizza I've ever had in my life. (Are here last night too and had pasta and it was ok.) staff gets gluten free and takes it seriously.
Yes
Had the vodka cream gluten free pasta. It was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had.
Yes
Really yummy GF pizza! Long wait for a table and don't take reservations.
Yes
I very nearly skipped this place, feeling so over GF pizza and pasta...thank heavens I didn't. Totally incredible food, GF or otherwise. Ideal menu for four people to share: Italy salad, Jersey GF pizza, GF breadsticks, and the pesto GF pasta. Heaven!
Yes
They Make every effort to avoid cross contamination. Had GF pizza and GF bread sticks. Some of the best GF I have had. Did not get sick. Ask the waiter about your options. Very knowledgeable staff about celiac . Will go there again . Approximately 1 hour wait to be seated. Worth the wait. Second review, came back , pizza was amazing, did not get sick. Will come here every visit to the city. Was a Wednesday night 730 pm. Place was packed . One hour wait. Worth it!
Yes
This place is awesome! Great staff, very knowledgeable. We got there early and it was an hour and a half wait but definitely worth it.
Yes
AMAZING A MUST IN SAN FRANCISCO!!! Gluten free pizza, pasta and bread sticks- I had a waiter recommend the GF New Yorker and it was amazing even my partner ate my GF one instead of his and said it was the best he has ever had!!
Had the American style pizza with Italian sausage which was incredible. Got there early but still had to wait awhile to be seated. Food is excellent!
Yes
Screw Chicago! Born and raised and still live there, but this is the BEST pizza gluten free or not! WOW! We live in the suburbs of Chicago and I think our pizza is better than the city of Chicago. But this was fantastic, something I'd make homeade myself. Don't miss this if you are gluten free and miss pizza!!!! Classic American with sausage is what I ordered.
