Neat place. Has lots of eclectic seating options and a great little market for snacks and specialty items. Gluten free options were plentiful. Lots of healthy salads and smoothies. GF bread and bagels for sandwiches. I had the chicken salad on mixed greens and a refresher ice tea. Brought a couple of plain gf bagels. They look and smell great. Can’t wait to try them! We’ll be going back. Open for breakfast and lunch only.

Gluten free bagels are great. Staff is knowledgeable about cross contamination, just make sure you get bagels pressed, not toasted to avoid cross contamination. Went 2 days in a row and never got sick

Gf bagel here was delicious! Told them I have celiac disease and they marked the paper and order slip. Didn’t get the bagel toasted or panini pressed to reduce risk of cross contamination. Overall, delicious!

After a week of being at places that were amazing for my celiac son, I was disappointed here. We went because other reviews spoke about gf options. We were told they could not guarantee safety due to cross contamination and did not have gf bread options. We settled for a couple of fried eggs (because they said they would not scramble them). If we return for vacation again, we will try another place.

Found this actually on Yelp while passing through OBX. Nice selection of sandwiches and bagel sandwiches (for breakfast or lunch—-both served all day) and when I asked to sub gluten free bread on a sandwich, was asked if I wanted it toasted or not and before I could ask about gf toaster, the server stated that the toaster is not gf but the panini press is so depending on how you like your sandwiches (hot or cold). I think the gluten free bread or bagel was about fifty cents extra. Nice place to stop for coffee and smoothies too.

They used to take measures to prevent cc, but don’t anymore. I can still eat the wrapped Udi’s muffins and some chips... but not much else.
No
Not celiac friendly. They have pre-wrapped udis muffins. The gf bread and bagels get toasted in shared toaster. Lots of cider though.
No
Not a gluten free safe place for those with celiac or high sensitivity. They have gluten free products, but not a dedicated kitchen space nor do they have safe food handling processes to prevent cross-contamination. However, they understand different sensitivities and will be honest with their food preparation processes.

I had the gluten-free vegan burger and a green machine smoothie - delicious! Staff was very knowledgable about GF options, and there was plenty of food to choose from!
Yes
I ate here twice on vacation, and was really happy about their GF options (a GF bagel thin or GF bread. They also have udi’s blueberry muffins). I was told when ordering that they do NOT have a gluten free toaster- the person taking my order made that super clear. I got a breakfast sandwich that was grilled on the panini press and I was fine. The cashier told me that they clean it between every order, so I felt ok about it. I didn’t get sick, so I would recommend it (and maybe nicely ask them to clean the panini press before they make your sandwich).
Update: I ended up eating here 4 times during our vacation, and I never got sick. The gf bagel thin is actually really good with egg/cheese/etc.
Drove there and they no longer have gf anything

the food was good, the gluten free bread was good-looking but my son was very sick after. the sandwich was grilled, perhaps with a contaminated iron?

They get it. Been there numerous times and quality is excellent. Good GFree bread / great breakfast sandwiches.

Best GF sandwich during our North Carolina vacation. Staff was very helpful. Loved the painted murals on the table.
We had a wonderful experience eating here. Staff were very friendly and patient with us as we had three gluten free adults (one celiac) and one gluten free child. We all had amazing sandwiches and wished we had a cafe like this back home! Not to be missed!

nothing blew me away here! I did buy a few bagels to take home [they were frozen]. They were surprisingly tiny - when I first saw them I thought it was cut in half. Skinniest bagel I've seen.
But this restaurant didn't feel air conditioned - there was a long line at the order register and they were totally out of GF items (except frozen bagels & frozen bread).
I don't get why everyone's so excited about this spot.
Good sandwich choices. Gluten free bread and bagels.

Yummy! Very hipster decor lots of beers and coffees AND GF BREADS AND CUPCAKES!!!! I got a turkey sandwich with avocado and feta, on gf bread. No reactions!
Wonderful friendly little deli. GF bread was delicious. They were wonderful about not only GF but also lactose issues. And to top it off, we had our parrot with us and they were game for making him up a macaw safe veggie salad and just charged me for 'toppings' versus a salad. Highly recommend! I had the BLT and my husband (also GF) had the Italian which he loved.. Highly recommend, they even had some GF baked goodies, and can make hot drinks with soy or rice milk. All around awesome must stop for anyone dealing with living GF!!

GF bread and bagels are delish! Loved the wave rider sandwich. Nice staff as well. Highly recommended.
Great food!!! So this is a coffee house style deli with a GREAT menu and lots of fun selections!!! I ate the gf bagel and it was amazing!!! They ship them in from NY and although hard to keep in stock it's worth it if you catch them! The lattes and cappuccinos were perfect for us coffee snobs and it had a great hipster feel! You order at the counter and they call your number, you wave and they bring your food. Such a great place we will for sure be back!!! (In 4 hours to pick up my dozen bagels I'm taking home) hahahahaha but seriously!
Yes
We came here twice while visiting obx. they prepared my sandwiches separately from non gf food, changing gloves, etc. the gluten free bread is delicious straight up! they use boars head lunch meats which are all gluten free. we didn't get to try out the gf bagels as they ran out. I will definitely return. also, due to a suggestion they got foil sheets to press gf sandwiches in the panini press. very good coffee!! we got some to take home.
They were out of gf bagels so I had to get a prepackaged "dessert" loaf which was supposed to taste like a donut, but was like sugared sawdust instead. :( My wife had a sandwich with gluten and a side of potato salad which she said tasted okay but wished we had gone elsewhere because they weren't good at distribution of ingredients on the bread.

New bigger location and still awesome! Great gluten free selection and even some gluten free desserts from a bakery on the island! Highly recommend stopping here for a sandwich and a gfree beer (or coffee!)!
Yes
Love their gf bagel sandwiches and great coffee! Have been twice this week and will definitely make this a staple place for lunch or breakfast while in OBX.
Yes
great breakfast sandwiches! I went twice, the first time I had a gf bagel but unfortunately they were out of gluten free bagels the second day so I had my sandwich on toast which was still good!
This place rocks. I had a turkey sandwich on gluten free bread that they got from a local baker. They also had gf baked goods and we tried the crumb cake and lemon muffin (be free baking co. in OBX) and they were amazing. Wish we had found this place earlier in our vacation!!!
they can make anything on their menu GF, they have a gf bread that was amazing. I had the bens wrap on gf bread, FAB! my hubby had the bobs, also great! Worth the trip!
So delicious! Can make any of the sandwiches, including the paninis, gluten free. Food was very fresh and even the baked gluten free goods were awesome. Here for just 3 days but definitely plan on making a second trip there!
Edited 12/23/14 to fix a minor error, oops.
Excellent sandwich place that I'm surprised hasn't shown up on this website until now. They use Boar's Head meat, which is gluten-free, and have gluten-free bread and bagels! You can even get your sandwiches toasted on a panini press (which is not dedicated, but they DO thoroughly clean and sanitize it to eliminate cross contamination), and they're so fabulous that I wanted to eat practically all my meals here while on vacation! They also carry pastries from Be Free Bakery. A little on the pricey side but worth every penny.
Yes
Very yummy sandwiches! I asked a lot of questions and they were very patient and willing to look things up for me. Less than a dollar up charge for gluten free. The sandwiches we ordered were made correctly to order and were labeled correctly. Didn't mind at all that we asked for glove changes while making our order. Will definitely visit again!

Awesome place! Manager/Owner, Bobbie, has a very good handle on gluten free for Celiacs. Gluten free sweet breads, brownies etc from local Certified gluten free kitchen, Be Free Bakery - the sweet bread was tasty with excellent texture. They also carry gluten free plain bagels from a dedicated gluten free facility out of NY (Hillcrest maybe?). The bagel with the deli's home mixed veggie cream cheese was my favorite - wonderful texture and chewy! Upon request, they got cream cheese from a fresh tub to avoid possibility of double-dipped knife contamination. Contrary to earlier post, Bobbie clarified they do NOT have dedicated press but take every precaution - they'll sanitize and clean off press and counter and prepare gf bagel or sandwich on fresh paper etc to help avoid cross contamination. I opted for a warmed bagel (microwave) as I don't care for toasted. Boars Head meats are gluten free so bagel sandwich is also an option. And did I mention the yummy coffee?

awesome Gluten Free selection of breads and pastries, sweet espresso and tasty smoothies!
