Definitely not gluten friendly. The food was mediocre at best and the server was not nice. Would not recommend and absolutely not going back

Went here at recommendation from a local. Had crab cakes (which have no fillers) and Cesar salad without croutons. The waitstaff was aware of gluten free and celiac, happy to accommodate me. I don’t think there were any other menu options besides salads and crab cakes, but I am happy with any meal as long as it is safe.

This restaurant is not celiac friendly and they do not have a dedicated fryer. They are reluctant to serve you anything if you have celiac and are almost abrupt with you if you ask them for even a salad. I have been here three times since my diagnosis. The first time I ate there they were accommodating. The next time they would not serve me and told me I shouldn’t return or could come back and bring my own food if I wanted to meet my friends there to eat again. The next time was for my mother’s birthday. I asked if they could even just make me a salad and they were abrupt with me. They firmly will tell you they cannot accommodate you. The dinner menu has no GF choices listed. Ironically, the dessert menu has GF items listed. Just know going in you are not welcome there if you have celiac. I have been visiting Highlands for almost 28 years and was diagnosed in the last year. I have eaten at this restaurant a million times before the diagnosis. It is disappointing to be treated so harshly by the waitstaff and owner.

I asked the waiter to make sure there was no cross contamination and he seemed to clearly understand what I was asking for a did a great job. He also thoroughly explained the menu with all gluten free options available off the top of his head.

Most of the menu is fish and they are almost all gluten free by nature so there was no compromise for gluten free
