Amazing experience. I loved the safety of a dedicated gf restaurant. I got the fried fish tacos and they were amazing. Easily the best fish tacos I have ever had. I would definitely recommend. I was so full but took the churro waffles to go for a late night snack. Everything was delicious.

Had high hopes for this restaurant based on previous reviews. Although the starter and dessert were fine, the main course was ludicrously salty, to the point that you simply could not taste anything other than salt which burned your tounge. We left half of the main course. We could only conclude that to make the crispy duck, they had used a tremendous amount of salt on the duck skins to crisp them quickly. Unfortunately, the staff whilst apologetic could only say” thank you for your feedback”, which left the impression they didn’t really care, and so was tremendously disappointing. It’s good that all their food is gluten-free, but that is totally pointless if what they serve up is utterly unedible. Needless to say we will not be returning.

This is a great restaurant. So good to have a good sit down completely gluten free place in a good neighborhood of San Fran. Loved the fish tacos, guacamole, and all the desserts.

The food here is absolutely delicious! I've had almost everything on the menu at this point and it is all so good! The portions on the main entrees are huge, I can never quite finish. The atmosphere is fantastic! They have live music on Friday evenings. All of the staff are so friendly as well! Also gluten free fried chicken?!?! Hell yes😋

Just to add as well, their kitchen is dedicated gluten free and no outside food is allowed in (it's written on the menu)

This place was amazing. The staff was kind & attentive. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and very clean. The food & cocktails were spectacular. We had gauc, taquitos, fried cauliflower, steak, soup, enchiladas, chicken tinga, lots of fried chicken tacos & waffle churros. The servings were generous & food was so good! We can wait to go back. This was the best meal of our trip, and maybe the best GF fish tacos I have ever eaten. The entire restaurant is GF, so obviously everything was safe to eat. I had the fish tacos my daughter had the fried chicken plate with homemade tortillas, beans, rice and peppers. The servings were huge. My 2 tacos had enough fish to easily been 4 full tacos. Definitely could have shared, but everything was delicious. Don’t miss out on the GF CHURRO WAFFLE. Holy moly. Save space…it was amazing!

As a Celiac who grew up in the Bay Area, it's ridiculous how few gluten-free options there are for such a large metro area. Luckily, XICA (pronounced "chica") is a phenomenal option if you're gluten free.

XICA is a 100% gluten free restaurant so you can rest easy and not worry about cross contamination.

One thing I've noticed as a Celiac is that a lot of companies try to cater to every dietary restriction in one fell swoop, meaning that a lot of gluten free things are also vegan or dairy free. I'm not vegan nor am I dairy free. I'd like a hot meal with an animal protein more often than not. Luckily XICA actually offers dishes with animal proteins and dairy.

My husband ordered the $28 fried chicken. It came with 3 chicken thighs, Mexican rice and beans and grilled fajita vegetables. The chicken was incredible and very affordable compared to the only other gluten-free fried chicken I've had at a restaurant (Yardbird in Las Vegas charges $76 for a whole gluten-free fried chicken.)

I ordered the chile rellenos for $27. It came with 2 stuffed peppers, Mexican rice and beans, and 3 gluten-free flour tortillas. It was totally different than any other chile rellenos I've had and was dairy-free. The tortillas were INCREDIBLE. I've had a lot of bad gluten-free alternative flour tortillas but these were fantastic. We ordered an additional order of 3 tortillas for $3.

I was super full but wish I wasn't so we could have tried dessert, but next time we will!

P.S. They're closed Sundays so plan your trip accordingly.

So delicious! I went with three people who can eat gluten and they loved it and asked me if we wanted to go back again while I was in San Fran visiting. We got the tuna tostada, fish tacos, Shishito pepper queso, pollo mole negro, and the churros. They were literally all so good. I think my favorite was the tuna tostada but it’s very difficult to choose. We also got a bunch of the drinks. All fantastic. Would recommend the bad bunny carrot drink or the house margarita!

Wonderful experience. The entire restaurant, kitchen and menu are gluten free, everything is safe. Had the Tinga Fuentes, with delicious chicken, fried tortillas, beans, rice and avocado. I also had the dessert, the waffle churros and they were absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and helpful and the space was lovely. My non-celiac friends also thoroughly enjoyed their food.

What a wonderful experience! I started with the orange carrot juice, it was so refreshing. They have cocktails, margaritas, wine and sangria! and beer. My entree was the chicken tinga it was delicious! You can tell that they put their heart in every dish. We also enjoyed the platano huaracha with carnitas.
