The staff is great here. Not sure how Gluten free the place is. I asked our waitress and she advised they had Gluten free bread they could substitute on the sandwiches but that was about it. Food is great otherwise good diner food great breakfast much of which could be had without Gluten components such as bread, gravy etc.

Pretty underwhelming, unfortunately. They do have gluten-free bread, but the food isn't great for a diner (and I love diners!), most of the specialty sandwiches aren't an option unless you want to have them hold a lot of the ingredients, and even the eggs are just so-so. Zip's is there as a cheap option if you're in the area and hungry, but if you can, keep driving towards something better. On the plus side, they haven't made me sick, and it's hard to beat the prices! As a heads-up: there are no special menu notations, so you'll need to ask what's safe.

If you have Celiac Disease beware. They do not have a dedicated toaster. There is no section of the kitchen dedicated for gluten free. No dedicated fryer for French fries. The place is clean, wait staff friendly but not all know or understand gluten free. Ask if you can have your eggs made in a pan not the flat top.

Owner, Mgmt, and servers for the most part understand difference between Celiac and gluten free. Great for a reasonable breakfast 😀

The owner was in house when we came in. He is extremely knowledgable about Celiac disease. Opened up a desperate grill just for my food (because they weren't extremely busy at the time) Fantastic service! A must next time we're in town.

Whenever I visit this area of CT Zips is a must! Since learning I have celiac and going gluten free I was pleased to find I could still eat some things here. I've had the eggs with bacon and hash browns and never had a bad reaction. Clean, friendly, great little place!

They really make an effort to be educated on GF products to be added to their menu. Had GF French toast and it was delicious. Great staff and fun atmosphere.

As soon as the owner/manager realized I had Celiacs he came over and told us that he was carrying GF bread and wraps, as well as GF salad dressings. We talked about a dedicated toaster and he left to buy one! Very accommodating and willing to work with me.
