We had a lovely experience at Brennan's! Our waiter was very kind and patient and he was very knowledgeable about the menu options I could not eat. There were only a few things that I could not have so I was very pleased to still have good options. We ordered the oysters, the duck, the lobster/veal cheek, and bananas foster for dessert! The bananas foster is the only gluten free dessert on the menu but it's also the most fun because you get to enjoy them making it table-side. All in all a great experience with no issues or concerns about gluten!

What a great experience! The waiter came and marked what was unsafe for me to eat. The food was so good and the waiter was so kind and considerate. We also got the bananas foster for dessert which is a must do in New Orleans! Overall this was probably my favorite restaurant in the city!

Waiter was initially a little awkward and brought out allergy list to table. I then brought said list to the host, who immediately alerted the manager and then came over to a table and walked me through it was possible and the precautions they took. I ended up getting a steak along with a few sides and everything was delicious. Based on other reviews it seems like the weight staff could use a bit more training, as the initial experience almost led us to walk out of the restaurant. Overall, the food is here is amazing and definitely worth it, just make sure to let the restaurant know ahead of time and be very clear and ask for the manager if you do not feel like you are getting what you need to be safe.

I made the mistake of telling the waiter I had celiac disease and needed to be gluten free when he was taking drink orders and he then proceeded to make several announcements about when it was the right time to announce food allergies. He kinda had it out for me after that. Got my food order wrong and told me this was what I ordered and my friend stepped in and said that he was wrong. My dessert got set in the middle of the table and the other people ate the dessert thinking it was for everyone to share. When I asked about it he said they ran out and couldn’t make another one and that he had already made an announcement to the table about it (which nobody else seemed to hear). A few of my friends mentioned how uncomfortable the waiter made it for everyone.

I didn’t get sick though and the food was pretty good. Just wish the waiter didn’t make me feel bad about it.

Absolutely amazing experience. Upon getting a menu I asked what was gf and had a menu brought back with only gf options. I got the heirloom tomato and cucumber salad, steak Diane, and bananas foster. It was all amazing!!!

Unfortunately I did not find it as GF friendly and accommodating as previous reviews described. Maybe I did not get the right waiter? I felt more of an inconvenience for him to explain the options. I even told the host when I made the reservations the day before of my intolerance and they seemed to be making a note of it. I went here looking for hassle free GF dining since it’s been a stressor for me while traveling and eating out in general and I did not find that. The food ended up being good but ruined by the experience

Asked the waitress which menu items were gluten free. She took my menu and the chef checked off the items that were unsafe. Still a fair number of delicious sounding options, but of course many cajun staples were not an option. Banana’s foster was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed the gulf fish.

Let the waiter know celiac or NCGS and they will alert the kitchen to avoid all cross contamination

The food here is divine. I just love it.

Um well a little weird. The waiter told me there were two safe menu options but upon further inquiry he said they just “wipe the breadcrumbs off” of one of them. Obviously I was pretty horrified.... And did not order that. I got the one safe option (mushroom omelette). It was really good though! And at least he ended up telling me the truth. They probably just shouldn’t classify that other one as a gluten free dish.

Claim that “almost anything” can be made GF but most of the menu cannot be. The post below about a dedicated fryer is unfortunately not correct information. Their staff was unaccommodating and unhelpful. After extensive conversation about GF my entree was still served on a crostini. It was replaced but not comped or even really apologized for.

Horrible staff, the juice for breakfast is over priced and only 2 items on the breakfast/brunch menu is Gluten Free. The waiter took, looking at the menu as time for the check. Also, there is a dress code.

Brennan’s does not have a gluten free menu, but the waiters discuss what is safe with the kitchen. Our waiter was not as knowledgeable as I anticipated based on other reviews I have read on here, but he suggested I pick several options and he confirmed with the kitchen what I could eat. I ordered the vegetable frittata and felt fine after. Food was good, servers were very friendly. Apparently the bananas foster is gf, but the local brand of ice cream used has warning labels for shared equipment on their package. I wasn’t brave enough to risk it!

Let me start by saying I had a delicious meal, and did not get sick. That is the most important thing. I just didn't love this restaurant as much as I should have, given how expensive it was. But GF-friendly? Absolutely. And it felt old-school New Orleans.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. Not because of gf safety--that part was fine. We went for dinner, maybe breakfast or brunch is the better meal to visit. I just expected that at the price point we were dining in, my socks would be knocked off. And the service was good--but not exceptional. We did have a nice dinner, and the ambiance was nice. When visiting NOLA again, I'll try something different. Not worth a repeat. For the record I had the crab remelaude/green papaya app. The redfish almondine and the bananas fosters. They were all gf, so I am thankful for that.

The most famous Breakfast in New Orleans--and has been for many years! Our server was very knowledgeable about GF even though there was no special menu...and suggested the Eggs Sardou for me (with a bit of kitchen alteration) They were delicious. Of course everyone else was equally pleased with their non GF meals.
