Lots of gluten free options with none of the worries! Owner has celiac and is truly the sweetest. Good prices and atmosphere. My favorite restaurant.

Love this restaurant so much! The owner has celiac, so is very knowledgeable about gluten and cross-contamination. Almost everything on the menu is GF, and the things that are not are clearly marked. I have been here a number of times, and the food is always delicious and made fresh.

This is my favorite sit down Mexican place for celiac friendly restaurants. Most of their menu is marked GF and they are able to make GF substitutions if needed. They make all of their corn tortillas in house and use them for their chips. We’ve had no issue with the fryer, as I believe only corn tortilla products are fried. I always get the nachos and tacos!! So delicious and the servers/kitchen are great with no cross contamination, as well as being educated on celiac. Love this place!

I was here when they first opened (6 years?) And hadn't been back since. I think the food has improved since then. Had a combo plate with salad, rice, beans, steak, guac. It was just right.

Incredible service and wonderful food! The owner has celiac so they take cross contamination very seriously. It was our first visit but won’t be our last - we can’t wait to continue to support this family business. My husband ordered his burrito GF so we could share and it was amazing! I had the chicken tostadas and they were excellent. Highly highly highly recommend whether you have celiac or not!

The owner is Celiac guys. She’s got this. The food was amazing. They actually have a dedicated space in the GF kitchen where they prepare the few things on the menu (wheat wraps) that aren’t GF. How’s that for a reverse. Really nice food.

This place is so tasty for both gluten free and non gluten free patrons. The crunchy gluten free shells are delicious! They often have gluten free desserts too. Staff has been very friendly and knowledgeable over the phone whenever we have placed an order. We have been here a few times and I never have had any problems.

I am in LOVE with Carmelita's!!!! Theresa (the Owner) is Celiac and everything in the restaurant is SAFE. The have a few GF items on the menu but they are prepared totally separate. I adore going to a restaurant and being faced with the dilemma of so many choices to pick from.

Food & service were both fantastic! Wait staff was knowledgeable about CD. Great to be able to eat out without worrying about getting sick from cross-contamination! Owner even came to talk to us! Wonderful experience, will definitely be going back!

Carmelita's is hands down the best Mexican food I have eaten in a long time. Everything is delicious and prepared fresh. The salsa has a wonderful, mysterious pepper flavor to it and the guacamole is terrific. I had steak tacos and they were perfectly seasoned, juicy and tangy.
Plus -- the restaurant is entirely gluten free with the exception of flour tortillas, which are stored separately from the rest of the food. The owner, Theresa, has celiac disease and takes extreme care to make her menu safe for "people like us." She sat down and chatted with us for a few minutes about how she trained her kitchen staff about gluten contamination. The fryer is gluten-free, and so the homemade tortilla chips are delicious and FRESH.
It is such a relief to have a restaurant where celiacs can eat freely and without worry! Even if I didn't have celiac, I would be coming back here on a regular basis. Even the wines they serve are gluten-free, and you can get bottled local cider if you want.
Also, get the rice pudding.

New to the CNY food scene, but a continuation of an old favorite. The owner is celiac, you will be safe here! It's a small restaurant in a shopping center, perfect for the weeknight don't wanna cook days. We had a taco salad, enchiladas (not gf), and a house special chicken taco. Taco salad was the least popular, others were very good. Desserts are all gluten free. I plan to try them all eventually. This is a new favorite for us.
