If you have CELIAC DISEASE, as I do, do not eat here! I got really sick from eating a salad with dressing (which was supposed to be GF), Grilled Chicken and Mash Potatoes! ALL SELECTIONS from their Gluten Free Menu! I rated it one star only because I couldn't post this re view without selecting a number! To me Celiac Friendly? NO!
They are very friendly and knowledgable when I had questions. Great GF menu
I hadn't eaten here in years and am always a little nervous when I go back to a place that is now serving gluten free. But I was completely delighted! The server was knowledgeable and everytime they brought a dish out to me they stated, "this is the gluten free salad," this is the gluten free ......." THAT really made me feel more comfortable that I was safe eating the dish. It was absolutely delicious and no issues afterward. Will definitely return!
Nice gluten free menu but everything else lacked. Ordered Tuscan skewers. Meat was mostly gristle had to spit one piece into a napkin and couldn't cut the other. Also, the standard practices of most restaurants were inferior - speed of service, checking on drinks and food, saying goodbye or thank you when leaving.
This was a hit as far as gf chain restaurants go. The W Palm Beach location was excellent with no celiac symptoms after the salad and pork chops. Make sure server is aware and items are prepared the gf way as listed on gf menu. ;)). No gf pasta but probably because gf pasta isn't so good so they don't want to serve it.
They have a lot of options for gluten free needs. Although, if you have a problem that isn't just gluten free but needs to be low in fiber and acids (like myself) then the menu quickly becomes limited. But the couple items I can have are absolutely delicious.
I called ahead and was assured they could accommodate someone with celiacs disease. They have a limited gluten free menu that states their grill & kitchen are not gluten free. I questioned this & the kitchen did take extra precautions but our choices were very limited, no children's selection. My child with celiacs did not get sick but was disappointed by her choices. We will not go back.
Fun gluten free menu that's tasty. A bit on the expensive side for what amounts to a fast-casual restaurant. They'd get a 4 out of 5 if they put the darn prices on the gf menu - its annoying to have to cross reference menus in order to figure out how much your meal will be.
they do have a gluten free menu, but it lists almost everything that is on the normal menu, but under every item it tells you how to "order it gluten free". basically, they have nothing that is actually labeled "gluten free" and all of the waiters that I talked to did not know much, if anything at all, about how to make sure that something really is gluten free. They do not have any gluten free pasta or anything like that. I got sick from choosing things on their gluten free menu because there were still traces of gluten in the food.
Not too many options but what they do have is delicious
The one and only time we ate here I had a really bad gluten reaction. The manager assured me they would make everything safe. The grill baste is not gluten free, and you have to ask for them not to use it. I don't know if it was cross contamination or lack of knowledge. I can only assume they boil any side of veggies in the pasta water. I was really really sick after eating here. Won't go back.
There is a GF menu, but why? They do not offer GF pasta. Their grill is not dedicated. The menu comes with directions on how you should place your order. I ordered Caesar salad and garlic mashed potatoes. The salad was good. I'm afraid I couldn't recommend this one.
We ate here last weekend with a large group. I ordered a side of the spicy chicken soup which is supposed to be gluten free if they don't add the noodles. After taking five bites I noticed a different texture in my mouth. Looked at the bottom of the bowl and it was full of noodles. The manager came and apologized profusely and said she'd bring me a bowl personally with absolutely no pasta added. I was leary but said ok because we'd already waited so long. She brought it out and I took the first spoonful. Right there in the first bite was a piece of pasta. She was horrified and looked scared that I would make a scene. I didn't. But I made it clear that I wouldn't be coming back. Ever. At least they gave me my meal for free. Didn't make up for getting sick later though. :( Would not recommend this restaurant.
They know their stuff. Well trained about gluten free diets...very nice staff.
I have never had a bad experience at Carrabba's in Tyngsboro, Ma. I wish I could order something *other* than the Chicken Bryan, but I just can't stop myself from ordering it every time. Sooo delicious. They don't blink and eye when I bring my own bread to dip on a separate plate. Their "John Cole" dessert -- Vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce and roasted cinnamon rum pecans -- is a treat I never regret indulging in, so save room! I'd give them five stars if they would start serving GF pasta.. or better yet, a GF Chicken Parmesan... just dreaming.
Though the food tasted great and I ordered off of the gluten free menu I was horribly ill within 10 minutes of leaving the restaurant. I haven't felt this bad in a long time. My recommendation is to go when they aren't so busy and maybe you will get a server or cook who isn't just interested in getting food out of the kitchen regardless of the consequences
The food was excellent. I had the Chicken Bryan which tasted fabulous. Our server was not aware of a gluten-free menu, but was very friendly answering questions and the Carrabbas web site has a GF menu. I did not get sick and will certainly return. I just wish there was a GF pasta option.
Service terrible, food mediocre
Service was poor, not a lot of good options, food was bad. I ordered a salad and when they messed up and put something in it I requested not to be added bc of an allergy, they took it back and did not remake it but PICKED THAT INGREDIENT OUT. Terrible.
Good place. If you're a celiac, stick with the basics and you'll be fine.
The food was ok, nothing special. I didn't have any problems with anything in my meal but the staff is definitely not well versed in GF and they do not exactly go out of their way to avoid cross contamination, though the waiter did claim the kitchen would clean the grill before cooking my meal.
We like this place, but . . . My Celiac wife always orders the Chicken Bryan. However, Carrabba's goofed tonight. The Gluten-free menu listed chicken soup. My wife took the first bite of soup and then she noticed lots of pasta floating in the soup. They took it back and brought her fresh soup with no pasta. Some of the staff is well-trained, some not. The manager apologized several times. It's a good place but be vigilant. They don't serve any GF pasta but I was told tonight that you can bring in your own GF pasta and they will cook it for you. (To be really safe, go to Biaggi's instead for GF pasta options and for strict GF kitchen procedures.)
Good gluten free menu with several choices and a great dessert. Servers are knowledgeable. One of my faves.
They specify that they don't use a separate grill, so it's buyer beware
There is a very slim selection. The menu states that any meat item may be contaminated by wheat.
was delicious. server was knowledgeable. had no issues. will return.
It's just not what it was about 10 years ago. The food is very mediocre and the restaurant is kind of dirty. A big bug climbed up my leg the last time I was there.
love the service...good classic Italian food...great selections of wine ....can't go wrong....
Called them and they said they had gluten free pasta. Upon arriving they told me they didn't. Great place but disappointing because of that. Wanted to give this place 1 star but what I did order was good. I came for pasta though. No matter what they tell you, they DO NOT have gluten free pasta.
Service was slow. There were items on the gluten free menu that the manager later said didn't exist in their restaurant. My server brought me the wrong salad, which was more dressing than salad. Most of the items on the gf menu are salads and grilled meats. The grilled meats are prepared on the same grill as regular items so you are pretty much guaranteed cross contamination. My side of sauteed spinach was soaked in oil and BURNT garlic, not toasted, burnt. Value is not good, overpriced for what you get.
Food is okay but nothing special.
I've been here many times and find them very professional and understanding when it comes to gluten free foods. I've even brought my own pasta in and they have cleaned a fresh pot and cooked it up for me as they have no gf pasta on their menu. Everything is made fresh to order so it usually takes a bit longer but worth the wait!!!
I don't think the GF options are very good. They don't have GF pasta but they will cook yours if you bring it in.
Late lunch at Kirby and was treated so very special. After I placed my order, the manager came over and asked if I would like some pasta with my meal. You bet I would. That was the best pasta dish I ever ate. It was organic rice, potato and soy pasta. Carrabbas on Kirby is the best Carrabbas in the Houston Metro area.
Incredible Chicken Bryan--GF! Super fresh salads & great service!
It really is good!
Carrabba's is always been really good about my orders. I typically do carry out. Some of the veggies have bread crumbs on them and they always make sure to remind me and then offer to just steam some veggies with not topping. Never had a problem and always feel safe getting a GF meal at Carrabba's Crestview Hills Location!
Not safe for celiacs - was given a vegetable with bread crumbs in a to go box clearly marked gluten free.
Extremely disappointed. My wife and I went to dinner last night and made it very well known she is anaphylactic to gluten. She received her dinner and her veggies were sprinkled with bread crumbs. We ended up in the ER for the night.
Have had good luck here. Just make sure you tell them you have a gluten allergy.
I had my birthday dinner here at the conclusion of my very first month of gluten-free eating. The dedicated gluten-free menu had lots of options, including one dessert, and had clear instructions for the modifications I would need to ask for, though my server seemed to already be quite aware of them. This was the most delicious and flavorful, hassle and anxiety free dinner I've had all month! What a treat! My server even put a candle on my dessert for my birthday. My husband is able to enjoy any menu offerings, and he also enjoyed his dinner. Eating here was a wonderful, pleasurable experience!
The food tasted good, but I was severely glutened. The waiter was really nice and helpful, so I believe the error was from the kitchen- It was a busy Friday night (I wouldn't have dined here, but it was a family from out of town thing)
We had a great GF dining experience here for lunch. The owner Monty came and reassured us that his kitchen staff is well-trained in GF cooking and described how they change gloves and cooking utensils and bowls to avoid cross-contamination. They also dedicate a section of their grill to GF grilling. After spending several minutes with the owner, we felt confident this meal would be a good one. The GF soup made for a perfect appetizer on a cold October with just a slight spicyness on the back of the throat. Our entrees were the Chicken Bryan and the Chicken Trio with steamed spinach and broccoli. The chicken was perfectly tender and the cheese was so creamy! If we weren't so stuffed, we'd have tried the dessert, which gives us something to look forward to next time! I highly recommend giving this place a try, particularly if you've had a bad experience at other Carraba's. Monty is the new owner as of a year ago and is himself a chef. He takes GF dining seriously and it shows. I suggest speaking with him if you choose to dine here, or ask to speak with Tommy Holland (manager) or TC Largay (kitchen manager).
Chicken Bryan is GF
Overall a great experience. Staff had gluten free menus readily available. While the gf menu was rather limited the food was good. Service was great.
Great food and service! Go for the meat dishes and you won't be disappointed.
Good food, knowledgable staff, curbside available
VERY disappointed. I loved Carrabba's when I ate gluten. Now not so much. Waiter didn't know the gluten free menu at all. Had me confused and that doesn't happen very often. I asked for an Italian salad no croutons (because the menu states to ask to have salads made in a fresh bowl and w/o croutons) and no tomatoes. He assumed I wanted a Caesar because I asked for no croutons. He also didn't know that the chicken on the g-free menu came with two prescribed sides - daily mixed veg and garlic mashed potatoes. My mom - not g-free, but allergic to mushrooms - had mushrooms in her pasta after asking that there be no mushroom
Great Italian food. the first time we visited this location the manager was very willing to talk with us about GF options. He is the reason we go back. The meals are large so we split it and ask for garlic mashed potatoes instead of pasta. I have been glutened once while eating here. We are much more careful now about reminding the waiter what GF means.
They have a great gluten free menu. The service was great and the food was amazing.
I go there about once a month. I love the chicken Bryan or the chicken trio. Out of about 20 visits I had a mild reaction once. I do not suggest the soup. Mine arrived with a piece of pasta in it. I sent it back. I still trust the naples location about 95%.
Not excited with the GF options. They don't have a GF menu, per se, just an "allergens" list which you can cross reference to the actual menu. Pretty limited choices (although to be fair, you almost expect that at an Italian style restaurant). Had the gluten-free penne pasta in the fettucine alfredo which wasn't bad. Added the shrimp for $4 but only got 4 small shrimp - not a good deal in my book. The food was good but not great. Probably won't be back if I had a choice but good to know they have a couple of options if I'm there with a group.
Had the chicken trio and the Cesar salad without croutons. My meal was wonderful, had lots of options and the service was great. Will be going back again. Surprised by all of the choices.
The service is okay but the gf menu is for a dog ughhh well not exactly but it's ok
Manager us fantastic; will follow your order through the process to ensure GF. I did not have the same negative experience as the previous reviewer . Food is wonderful And many gf options. Their soup is naturally gf ( they actually add in the gluten for regular customers after by adding pasta after )
The gluten free chicken marsala and vegetables were very delicious.
The staff at Carrabba's was fabulous about working with me! Not only did I need gluten-free, but I'm lactose-intolerant, and our waitress was so sweet and had no problems helping me figure out what I could eat and adapting my order for my needs. I do love that they have a GF menu online, but I had to look at the GF menu on my phone while looking at the physical menu in the restaurant. It was a little inconvenient, but not a deal-breaker. Carrabba's is definitely on my list of "safe" restaurants.
They really know how to do gluten free. The proprietor told me that if I ask to speak with him, we can even get stuff that is off the menu. I highly recommend either their Chicken Bryan or Steak Marsala. With a side of garlic mashed potatoes, it is an overall tasty meal. One minus is that they don't have gluten free pasta, but the options they do offer make up for it.
This place was terrible. It was dead and looked dirty. I didn't eat as the grill base isn't gluten free and they don't have a dedicated grill. Everyone seemed clueless and didn't seem to care, the regular food others in my party ordered was so salty it was inedible.
Another fav GF place to eat!
Wonderful! The owner James even has gf noodles in case you want pasta. Will give you a sliced tomatoe to use with the dipping oil instead of bread if you ask. I keep going back because they care about my experience.
This was a disappointment. This is an Italian grill and many of the menu items are grilled. The problem is the baste they use has gluten; they don't have a dedecated gluten-free grill, so there's a big chance for cross contamination. You should search for non-grilled items. I had Polla Rosa Maria with salad and garlic mash potatoes. I was disappointed with the meal. I expected more flavor from the lemon sauce. The chicken was over cooked...dry and somewhat tough. There aren't many choices in St Augustine, so this might be a choice for a different place to eat. My wife's nongluten-free meal was lackluster ad well.
Carrabba's has good food & I don't usually get sick. Make sure you confirm with the waiter that they are not going to use the grill baste on your food/cook on the grill since it contains gluten (they can cook it separately for gf entrees - as long as I make sure they do, I don't get sick). They could use a more exciting gf dessert - vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce & nuts is not very exciting. Call ahead seating is recommended - especially on Friday & Saturday nights. This location does different call ahead than the Outback that shares the parking lot in that you can cut off half the wait time with the Carrabba's call ahead but all the wait time at Outback.
Excellent GF entrees. The Chicken Brian is phenomenal! Never been disappointed here but prices are high so take a fat wallet!
Good food and staff understands gluten free
Have eaten here three times with no problems. Good selection and tasty food.
We eat here frequently--great service, delicious food, and the servers are sensitive to my GF needs!
They do have options at this restaurant. Most of them are on the grill however and can easily be cross contaminated, as they don't have a dedicated grill. If you're very sensitive I would stay clear but if you don't get too sick, it's got better options and training then most restaurants without a gluten free menu.
Excellent soup...mama mandolas chkn soup and the chkn bryan is divine!!!
Excellent! My favorite restaurant both before & after going GF. They also have a GF wine list & I've never had a gluten issue here. Cannot recommend highly enough!!!
everything is cooked on the same grill. the disclaimer on the gf menu states that none of the staff is trained on gf. also states that items where determined to be gf based on a 4 year old review of the ingredients from a nutritionist. with as much as companies change their ingredients thats just not acceptable.
I have eaten here at least 20 times and never had a probllem until last nite. I ordered my usual gf menu item chicken Bryan ,chicken soup, mashed potatoes and side of spinach. Which one was contaminated... No idea! All I know is I was sick all night long.
I am allergic to gluten and anything that comes from a cow. The server was awesome, running to and from the kitchen several times to make sure what I was getting was free off both. The meal was excellent and the manager took $6.00 off my bill for bringing my own pasta. We will be back
Limited selection and no GF pasta?!
High-priced, low-quality. Don't waste your time.
Great manager, great meal
Make sure your server knows about the GF menu. I had to inform our server that they infact did have a GF menu. I'm not sure she even knew what gluten was. I got sick later that night.
They do not have a large selection for a Gluten free diet but what they have is great!
Love it here. Great gf menu.
Pollo Rosa Maria & sautéed veggies & salad minus croutons simply amazing & GF! Kid wanted same & made mistake of ordering "half" order which only difference is 1 breast instead of 2 & only $2 savings ($15 instead of $17) so I should've ordered full & taken it home. Salads were bland & chicken over charred but everyplace has a bad day.
I was sick within 30 minutes of eating here :(
Good menu and knowledgeable server.
Not to many gfree options. Our server was very good with my questions. I will return to try other options.
Always good service and food.
I've eaten there several times with different managers but the last time was bad. I must have gotten the regular chicken bryan instead of the gf one when the server guaranteed me that if was gf. I was sick the whole night and have refused to return to that location since. its been a year and a half.
Love the chicken Brian! Waitstaff is very knowledgable on what is and isn't gluten free and very friendly. Gluten free menu had lots of variety!

Manager was great. Had a great gluten free meal.
Accommodating and yummy
Mainly chicken in gf menu
Need to have more non chicken dishes
The food and service were wonderful and they have a separate menu.
Sounds crazy but if you bring in your cooked gf pasta they will use it in your meal!
Yum. :-). The chicken Bryan and the pollo Maria rosa are gluten free and absolutely delicious.
Good food, great service. Servers were well informed about gf options. Would be better if they offered gf pasta.
One of my favorite restaurants... Very happy to know that most of what I usually order there is gluten-free.
