This was my first experience at Charlestons and I will never go back. Their gluten free menu is very limited but nothing that out of the ordinary for restaurants. I wanted to try the pork carnitas tacos but the waiter came back and told me the corn tortillas are “gluten free” but made in a facility that processes gluten. I have celiac disease and am very sensitive to cross contamination so I decided to try something else. I next ordered the Famous French Dip and was very excited to see this on the menu since many gluten free restaurants don’t make these in Omaha. They ended up bringing out a small bowl of shaved prime rib and au jus sauce on the side. While I was disappointed to see there wasn’t any bread, I understood because the menu did not say “served with gluten free bread.” However, the server came back after I started eating and said, “the chef wanted me to ask you if modified corn starch is gluten free as it is an ingredient in the au jus.” That made me feel very uneasy as a food labeled “gluten free” on the menu should be GLUTEN FREE like they stated. I ended up eating the food anyways and it was bland and I am paying for it tonight. I 100% do not recommend this restaurant for celiacs or those very sensitive to gluten.

Food is okay, but the GF menu wasn’t super exciting. I got the chicken piccata which came with mixed vegetables.

I have celiac disease and a severe dairy allergy, so it’s scary to eat out. Prior to going, I called and talked to the manager about my dietary issues. I believe his name was Jason, and he was very helpful. He informed me that they are very diligent about cleaning in the kitchen, and you can also get things like the grilled chicken without any seasoning. I ordered a chicken club salad with the Herbal Vinaigrette. Originally, I accidentally ordered the Caesar, not thinking, but thankfully it came on the side and were able to swap it out. I had no reactions to the food and it takes absolutely phenomenal. Great service throughout, able to answer questions and checking up on us. Definitely recommend and will be going back in the future.

Dedicated GF menu with a warning they can't guarantee no cross contact for to the set up in the kitchen. Waiter was helpful, and I felt like there were a decent amount of GF choices.

They have a separate gluten free menu that is very nice. Knowledgeable staff and manager typically brings your food out when you let them know gluten free. Love this place.
