Absolutely amazing! I got to eat crab cakes, fried chicken and fried calamari. Everything is gluten free that's fried. No cross contamination! Incredibly delicious!!!!

Update July 2017: it's not Choices by Shawn anymore. It's a place called Hamrock's. Celiac/gluten intolerance not treated the same anymore (no more red allergy cards on the table, gluten-free food no longer served on red plates, etc). It isn't safe for celiacs the way Choices was. I'm sad.

Completely safe - dedicated kitchen space, fryer, etc, and everyone here understands celiac/gluten intolerance. The food is also really, really good even for non-celiacs. Great place. Basically a unicorn.

Outstanding food and service!! Very nice ambiance. There were so many gf choices on the menu it was hard to choose (quite a nice and rare problem to have). Can't wait to return!! Restaurant is now known as Hamrock's Restaurant formerly Chocies by Shawn.

Food was outstanding. Service was efficient and friendly. The crab cakes were delicious, but the sauce was even better! Also had the fried chicken which would easily feed two. Will certainly return.

This place is very cute, and the staff are wonderful. However, saying it is gluten free is a misnomer. After talking with the owner about sourcing for shredded cheese, vinegars, and tortilla chips, it is clear that the best description for Choices isn't even 'no gluten ingredients.' There's major sourcing issues. That doesn't translate to a safe, happy tummy.

Good food. Nice ambiance. Lots of items that are gluten free or can be made gluten free, including crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, pancakes, and fried chicken. Some items need a little salt, but I would rather have to add salt than not have a choice. Not very handicap accessible. Went with a friend who is not good with stairs, but other than that, thumbs up.

I love Choices by Shawn. There's a new owner who is changing up the menu. However, he is still keeping some of the previous menu items, which I appreciate. It's been fun trying new items. When asked, they will make meals based on your current allergies or desired eating habits.

We have one person with Celiac and one who is gluten intolerant in the family and decided to give Choices a try for lunch today with some friends who were visiting. The food was excellent for all of us. Gluten free options were extensive and staff very well informed and knowledgeable about cross contamination, etc. GF meals brought to table separately and on red plates. Prices were reasonable, considering the quality and options. Will definitely go back...may be out new favorite place!

It's a little pricey, but we've been here for Christmas and Easter the last few years and loved it every time. They have a completely separate kitchen for gluten free foods, and they tag gluten free dishes by putting them on colored plates so neither the server nor you gets confused and gets you sick. They are also very attentive to other allergy and sensitivity needs, for example my brother is gluten sensitive and allergic to buckwheat as well so the kitchen staff made sure to make him safe food and gave him safe appetizer bread. The rest of us also enjoyed appetizer breads, and mains and sides and dessert. Every time we go everything tastes amazing. The staff are pretty open to "customized" dishes, like when you have a picky eater and they have a list of ten parts of the dish they want omitted or changed the staff won't glare or anything. I never felt the need to change anything as it's all quite good. The restaurant itself is in a super fancy old house with a gorgeous porch you can eat on, or in our favorite room for events you can eat in the parlor! They always want more diners to come in because due to historic building restrictions they aren't allowed to post proper signs on the building so the customers who get there are always repeats but not enough customers get there in the first place, so if you want the best gluten free restaurant in the area to stay open please do go and visit them. You won't regret it :)

Finally stopped by for dinner. Staff was enthusiastic, knew about Celiac, tagged my order for prep in the larger GF kitchen & served it on red plates. My 'special' butter-basted sirloin w/ roasted potatoes & fresh green beans was mouthwatering, then I was blown away by dessert, a warm raspberry almond shortbread & homemade vanilla ice cream. Heavenly! Be sure to ask about their picnic baskets or coolers to go. I'd avoid any prepackaged chips, otherwise it's all good!

I am pretty sure I got glutened here :( I was really excited to check the place out since it caters to people with celiac and gluten sensitivities but I am still experiencing stomach issues, headaches and overall aching since having eaten there 4 days ago..... so sad about this......I was so excited!!!! The food was definitely exceptional despite the result.....but I don't think I would go back.

I had been excited to try this place for a long time but was disappointed actually going. The food wasn't BAD but I left feeling like I could have made much better food at home, and had a bad experience with the very slow service.

The GF bread used for the avocado bruschetta was untoasted and somewhat soggy, with very little actual avacado (though the salsa was tasty). The open faced vegetable sandwich was alright, but the potato soup was very under-seasoned. The garlic fries were floppy and tasted like regular fries.

I would probably rate higher if I hadn't been so let down in my expectations based on reviews here. The food is so-so, which I find unfortunate because I do appreciate what they're trying to do. While I understand how hard it is to find dedicated GF restaurants, that shouldn't be an excuse for mediocre food or service. I go to resturants as a special occasion for delicious food and this place let me down.

We are here now eating and we are in love with this place!!! 1st off, being greeted at the door with "Welcome.... Is anyone Gluten-free?", just had me! The atmosphere is awesome! It's like eating at home but with better service. As for the food... Well, put it this way... I wanted to take pictures of the food but after the 1st bite of my meatloaf, I totally forgot about sharing the experience with my social network. In other words, it was so delicious I didn't want to stop. Ok I think I've said enough. This is a must try spot!!!

They go to great lengths to keep celiacs safe, and they did a great job. The crab cakes were stellar and the GF bread and seasonal vegetables were also good. I wish the cheese on the French onion soup had been browned. The fried chicken was okay, but the carrot cake was not so good--very dense, bland and left a lot to be desired. At least the ice cream was fabulous! I also had to remind the waiter 3 times before I got my glass of wine. All in all, it was a good meal with room for improvements.

The staff is extremely knowledgable. Choices has its own system that GF food comes out on different plates from a GF kitchen. We've been here many times and have NEVER been disappointed. The GF fried chicken is delicious! As are the garlic fries. And, the chicken Provence. I can't praise this restaurant enough...
