Honestly, disappointed. Waited an hour for a salad and chili. The side of fries was the best option on the menu. Don’t skip lunch before coming. 😳

As another poster said, there are very few GF options in Joshua Tree but Crossroads really accommodated us. We were there for breakfast, and ordered eggs and bacon. The waitress went back and asked the kitchen to prepare the eggs in a clean new pan, and they were just great.

Celiac

Went to Crossroads for dinner one night and they had a few gf options- mostly salads. I had the spinach salad which was great, and I added avocado to it. The fryer at the restaurant is only used for fries, so it was safe to eat them. Having fries is always a special treat as someone with celiac, so it was great to indulge safely.

I was a little nervous to try anything that was grilled, such as chicken, due to cross contamination concerns. They also let me know that the ahi was marinaded with soy sauce, so not celiac safe.

Asymptomatic Celiac

Review

My wife and I are celiac and always cautious, but there are very few dining options in Joshua Tree, especially if you’ve been hiking all day and don’t feel like cooking. So we come here. We’ve been here a couple times a year for several years and we’ve never gotten sick. We try to order carefully for no obvious cross-contamination as well as let the staff know of our needs. We always get the fries, which have a dedicated fryer. We also get the huevos rancheros and salads. All have been safe. They have a very small area outside (about 4 small tables) for seating. It’s closed though, from time to time in the summer, because the flies get too bad. Mask wearing wearing was 50/50 for the establishment. It gets pretty tight in there because it’s the only decent restaurant in town, and it’s kinda small. We took our food back home.
