Five Guys

I asked when I ordered if they would change their gloves because I have an allergy. She said no problem. When we picked up the order from the counter they said they changed their gloves and were very cautious. I thanked them for that.

We eat at five guys across the country because they market themselves as gluten free without the bun. Usually that's the case. This particular five guys had bun crumbs all over the food prep counter. The people who prepared our food never changed their gloves. Its just as well because the cashier got our orders wrong. We asked for burgers wrapped in lettuce but received burgers in trays which worked out because had they wrapped them in lettuce on the food prep counter our order would've been contaminated with gluten. Do not recommend this one.

Excellent food. Bun-less burgers and fries are safe (dedicated GF fryer). Reliable and delicious. Staff is careful to avoid cross-contamination.

I appreciate that they always ask if my lettuce wrapped order is an allergy. Fries are the only thing in the fryer, so no worries about cross contamination.

I’ve gone three times in two months and it’s been great every time. I tell them “allergy warning, I have celiac’s”. I order mine on lettuce (they do a really great job at wrapping the burger in lettuce), with everything on it. I then inform them that my spouse would like a normal bacon burger on a bun. The staff has always reassured me and I hear them tell each other “allergy!” while cooking. They’ve always put my burger in a different bag marked “***ALLERGY***” and there was a red sticker on the tin foil of my burger.

If you’ve never been to a Five Guys, they have a very limited menu of just burgers (bacon, cheese, or plain) in three sizes, French fries (plain or Cajun), and milkshakes.

The only gluten items on the menu are the buns and malt. The chocolate shakes do not automatically come malted, so there’s never been a worry for me there.
