Ordered a lettuce wrap cheeseburger no problem. The fries were fried separately, as that's the only fried item. Delicious!

Ordered a burger and fries, asked for a lettuce wrap, said I had celiac disease / gluten allergy. The cashier said “mhmm” and completed my order. I was given a cheese burger with a bun. I didn’t eat it. No understanding of gluten or food safety, also very poor listening skills.

The staff rolled their eyes when I asked ONE of them (the one that was going to handle my order. At least you can see what’s going on back there to ensure your food doesn’t get contaminated. There was no one in line behind me either so I didn’t feel bad. I’m not sure how I’d feel about them preparing a bun less burger for me but at least the fries are safe.
Concourse b. Dulles airport. Reliable gluten-friendly fast food chain. Order bun with lettuce wrap. Buns cooked on separate grill from burgers and veggie toppings. Fries (cooked in peanut oil) are cooked in fryer with only fries.
Excellent food. Bun-less burgers and fries are safe (dedicated GF fryer). Reliable and delicious. Staff is careful to avoid cross-contamination.

I appreciate that they always ask if my lettuce wrapped order is an allergy. Fries are the only thing in the fryer, so no worries about cross contamination.

I’ve gone three times in two months and it’s been great every time. I tell them “allergy warning, I have celiac’s”. I order mine on lettuce (they do a really great job at wrapping the burger in lettuce), with everything on it.
I then inform them that my spouse would like a normal bacon burger on a bun. The staff has always reassured me and I hear them tell each other “allergy!” while cooking. They’ve always put my burger in a different bag marked “***ALLERGY***” and there was a red sticker on the tin foil of my burger.
If you’ve never been to a Five Guys, they have a very limited menu of just burgers (bacon, cheese, or plain) in three sizes, French fries (plain or Cajun), and milkshakes.
The only gluten items on the menu are the buns and malt. The chocolate shakes do not automatically come malted, so there’s never been a worry for me there.
