This restaurant was not gluten-free at all. I went for dinner recently, made my allergy well known to the waitress, including its severity, and was then served brussels sprouts with an accidental tortellini stir-fried into it! I didn’t realize until I was halfway through the dish, and yes, I did get very sick. The manager apologized and gave me a $25 gift certificate, but at that point, I was not comfortable eating anything at the restaurant and left. Very disheartening experience for a Celiac.

The waitress was careful to mark my order as GF. I had a special salad with roasted sweet potatoes, pecans, freshly grated Parmesan and cranberries with a house made Dijon maple dressing. For dessert they offer an almond raspberry tart. It was all delicious!

Had a BLT sandwich and part of the turkey special deli sandwich, both were fresh and delicious. Both had unique spreads and the bread was toasted and great. Will definitely go back.

I don’t know what all the good reviews are for, I did not like this place at all. I will say they had a lot of gluten free options marked on the lunch menu and I would come back to try their soups and salads. But I had a chicken salad sandwich on gluten free bread and the bread was probably some of the worst I’ve had. There wasn’t much chicken salad on it either. We paid $32 plus a tip for two sandwiches and one bag of chips and I felt like it was way too much money for what we got/the quality.

Please go here, it was AMAZING. GF bread for sandwiches and all their soups they had on menu were GF. I had a potato broccoli cheddar soup that was so good.

Excellent place for gluten free soup and sandwiches. All but a couple soups and sandwiches are gluten free. Great salads too.

Five Loaves pays specific attention to the GF folks. They have GF bread for sandwiches, and most (if not all) of their soups and salads are already gluten free. Everything is marked on the menu. They have excellently-sized portions, especially for the price. I love the Peppercorn & Coriander Roast Beef sandwich (ask for your bread to be toasted), or their Chicken Cobb salad.

Gutes Essen, schnelle Bedienung, alles gut vertragen. Empfehlung
They are very knowledgable about gf & celiac needs. The menu is marked & they know what items that are not marked, that can be made gf. They also have many soups that are gf. They also have 1 gf dessert option. I really like their breakfast/ brunch better than dinner, but I am pretty picky about the things I like. They also use local & natural meats. So win, win! I have eaten here about 5 times now & will definitely be back!

Knowledgeable staff. Good selection and food. Great for lunch. Will definitely go back.

We went here for Sunday brunch because there are so many positive reviews, but I failed to notice that most of the reviews were about soups, sandwiches, and other non-breakfast food. I was not very impressed with breakfast. They do have items marked as gluten free on their menu, but not a lot of breakfast options. I decided to go very basic and get scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries. Most of my food was cold when I received it even though it came out fairly soon after we ordered. I really disliked the home fries especially. They are made with onions and peppers and covered in a reddish seasoning but still had almost no flavor. I am a potato lover and for me not to finish them really says something. I’ve had better breakfasts at Cracker Barrel (pre-diagnosis). On the plus side, I did not get sick and our server was understanding when I explained the gluten situation. The best thing I had, honestly, was the coffee. I have to give this place 2 stars because the breakfast food just wasn’t worth it. However, based on the other reviews I have read, I think I would try it again in the future, but just be sure to go around lunch time.

I loved this place so much, we went back the next day!!
They have a soup sampler, which is the greatest because I wanted to try ALL THE SOUPS. and they were all worth it.
Their salads are amazing as well.
They're super cute and friendly :)
The menu was labeled with GF, vegetarian, and vegan options

everything my husband and I had was amazing- a definite place to return to!! had a trio of soup as my appetizer which were really unique and I'll be trying to recreate them at home!
Very knowledgeable. GF well labeled on menu. Falafel (delicious) was pan fried to keep it from contamination. Safe & fun & tasty.

On our first trip to Charleston, only a month after I found out I was Celiac, we we're lucky enough to stay next to Five Loaves Cafe. Thank goodness! We went in there several times and not only was the staff friendly and knowledgeable but the food was fantastic. I highly recommend.

Fabulous. Tasty food, clearly marked menu, and a wide variety of options. One of my favorite spots for lunch.
Terrific...everything clearly marked and consistent with reality!
Our server was really helpful and accommodating to my daughter that has Celiac. All the soups were GF.

Great food and service! I had the roasted turkey sandwich with the Udi's sandwich bread. I'm not a big fan of their sandwich bread so I only gave 4 stars instead of five. A freshly made gf bun or bread would have been better. But I highly recommend their gluten free raspberry almond short bread! Amazing!

From out of town and this was a great gf spot!
Our son cannot have gluten or milk, and they were very knowledgable and accommodating. They have gluten-free bread for sandwiches.

We went to both Charleston Five Loaves with 2 GF people, 1 of whom is also allergic to tree nuts & dairy & both places had great service, ideas and options. Wonderful fresh food & attentive kitchen & lots of GF sandwich & soup options! Plus they give you a "double sandwich" since Udi's bread is so small!! Half sandwiches available-LOVED It!
Staff is very accommodating with gluten free requests and there are lots of options. Delicious food!!
GF bread available, however, need to make sure they do not toast the bread. A lot of gf options! My favorite at brunch is the Skillet.
Always excellent service! Great BLT on toasted gluten free bread and tomato basil soup! Food always good!
Yes
Awesome roast beef sandwich. They use Udi's bread and since the slices are smaller they make two sandwiches (4 pieces of bread) when you order a whole sandwich. Also tried the potato broccoli cheddar soup and it was delicious too.

Awesome soup and good veggie sandwich too!

They have their items marked "GF" (or "V" for vegetarian) on their menu. All soups were GF. Very good food.
Always a safe choice! Sandwiches are huge and awesome and soups are all gf and all so good. Lunch menu is more gf, and you can always order off the lunch menu!

Sandwiches were awesome and all but one could be made gluten free. My husband and I both got the soup samplers with ours and were not crazy about the soups.
Our server, Steven, was very knowledgable and so helpful! He showed us which soups were GF and helped us order accordingly. Very friendly and gave us some tourist spots to see. He made this a carefree dining experience for all of us. The sandwiches were amazing and such a great value for your money. We were full and had to take our left-overs with us.

Excellent. Fresh, healthy, delicious and lots of interesting choices for GF meals. They often have GF dessert available, so be sure to ask. Reasonably priced, too.
Great selection of GF options-- appetizers, salads and entree. I had the pork-- wonderful! Very reasonable price. Will definitely eat there again
Went there twice. The prices were super reasonable. All of their soups were GF. They've got real GF bread for the sandwiches (I think it might be udi's white bread). We had a group of 21 people and only 1/3 of us were gluten intolerant. The restaurant got All of us right and for really inexpensive. Quite impressive. :-)
Many GF options. I had a turkey pastrami Reuben. A whole sandwich was 2 whole sandwiches since the GF bread is small. It was wonderful!! I could not eat it all.
Excellent gfree choices. Soups and salads particularly good; sandwiches - which were quite large and equally good - available on gfree bread.
