So many options! It is also fun to have the meat brought around to your table. You do need to ask for a tour of what you can and can't have. If it seems unclear ask for a manager and then be prepared to eat a lot!
Almost all naturally gluten free and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The gluten free bread at the table is the best I've ever had!

Amazing!! Almost everything was GF including entire salad bar and all sides and almost all the meat. Cheesy bread was amazing. Service was excellent. Really know their stuff. Would come here any day over any of the other knock offs (Texas de Brazil).
So many gluten free choices! Bread at the table was GFree. Fried polenta, mashed potatoes, fried bananas, awesome salad bar. And all the meat is gluten free!!!

I visited this past weekend. 100% GF salad bar. The only meat option I couldn't have were the chicken drumsticks b/c they're marinated in beer. There are a decent amount of GF dessert options. But the plantains that they bring you with the meat service are GF and they're yummy enough to serve as dessert (and you can get as much as you want)! The complimentary cheese bread is also GF and absolutely divine. I did not feel limited at all at Fogo De Chao and the food was absolutely delicious! If you have food allergies, they have a comprehensive book that outlines common food allergens in each dish. Just ask the server. The unique experience is also something fun and to be enjoyed.
This is a great stop for dinner!! There are more items to eat then not for a Celiac like myself! The salad bar was fresh and delicious, but that is not all! The cheese rolls and plantains weRe awesome!! I could eat twenty of these rolls. I loved all the beef served at the table as well. Feel free to openly mention that you cannot have gluten and they will tell you what you cannot eat. Enjoy:)
I ate her a few days ago and I was amazing. The server new exactly what was gluten free and what wasn't. They had many options which is always nice to hear when you have celiac disease. The bread they bring to the table is gluten free which is stuffed with cheese. I seriously could have eaten that all night. I am extremely pleased. It was a bit expensive but well worth it.
Excellent! Waiters very aware of gluten and the cheese bread - freshly baked for the table - is gluten free! Fantastic salad bar with the best fresh mozzarella balls I've had in a long time along with a candied spicy bacon which was out of this world with the meats! As someone else mentioned, this really is a gluten free dream and the fact the staff know about the allergy is professional and well received. My husband does not have a gluten allergy but also loved it here; we are from RI on vacation and this so far has been the best restaurant in Miami.
When I told my server I was Gf because of an allergy, he was very knowledgeable about their menu and about hidden gluten. He told me what items on the salad bar had gluten, even not the obvious choices, like that the beans were dusted with flour, to stay away from them, and a few other items that should be naturally gf had ingredients that changed that. He even gleefully told me their table side bread baskets are gf - made with yucca flour! He told me to stay away from chicken and hearts as they are marinated in beer and the Parmesan crusted pork, that had bread crumbs, but that everything else would be safe. We had amazing service, amazing food... It's a food fest experience! Safe for vegetarians- with an amazing farm to table salad bar, the best I've ever seen! Safe for gf - so many options AND bread! Its very reminiscent of a patishoo , but it's bread... Not made with rice or potato. Yummy! And if you're a carnivore, you will think you have died and gone to meat heaven. I didn't know what to expect when my husband took me here & said that men run around & serve you from meat on a stick... Lord have mercy! It is a spectacle to behold. Its on the pricey side, but worth every penny of all you can eat bliss.
Manager didn't tell me everything that had gluten in it because I avoided all of the foods he said, but I still definitely got gluten some how. Food tastes great, but definitely made me very sick afterwards, and for 2 people at lunch on a week day and no extra anything except we had 2 teas, it was $100. not worth it for getting sick.
The salad bar was delicious and I avoided any options adjoining "glutened" selections such as the pasta salads. The meats were plentiful - just no chicken or lamb for us celiacs - but overall I felt the price was excessive and for that reason will not return. But that is a separate issue from the plentiful GF options.
After the explanation from the host I thought I was safe with the meat here. One of the chickens available was soaked in beer. Had a sinus headache that night and for a few days following. So, just be proactive in asking about every thing you put on your plate. Other than that, was a delicious meal.
A manager will come to speak to you about the GF options, but it's almost unnecessary because everything but the obvious breads and 3/12 or so meats is gluten free. And did I mention the GF cheesy bread? It's pricey, but 100% worth every penny for the amazing selection!
Great food and I did not get glutened from the meat or salad bar. Servers were knowledge. However, service was variable and we felt ignored sometimes. Especially for how much we paid. Will go back again hoping for a better experience. We went to the one in Las Vegas and they were amazing! Polenta fries were great and love the gf rolls!
Awesome service. So great options, tapioca cheese bread, fried polenta and mashed potatoes, all sides g-free. The salad bar is most gf, besides the chicken and pasta salad that are next to the bread. No contaminations there' very recommendable for celiacs
This was our favorite restaurant on our recent trip to DC. We actually ate there twice. It is expensive but worth every penny. Since we are GF and DF there were only 3 meats we could not have: crusted pork loin, chicken legs, and the sausage. There were probably at least 10 other meats we could eat and they were so delicious. They also brought out polenta with no parmesan on it for us. And they walked us through the salad buffet and explained what was safe and what was not safe. You will definitely be stuffed and really enjoy your experience - highly recommend.
Grest food, lots of options including croutons for the salad! The manager came immediately to the table and helped me go through the options which are many, also told me they are becoming completely GF next month as they are going to take off the menu GF dishes. Good newss!
As said by other reviewers, almost completely GF. Unbelievably excellent service (thanks to head waiter Ben), amazing food, and GF bread that is brought to your table is to die for. YES! I ate bread that tasted good. As a celiac, I was in heaven the entire evening. Can't wait to return.
I couldn't write a review fast enough about this place just loved it!!! The manager was very aware of celiac and took me around the Buffett and showed me what I could and couldn't eat and then went through the meats with me so awesome. The food was fantastic worth every penny! If I ever find another Fongo de Chao on my travels I will eat there again. Recommend it to anyone who has celiac or who is gluten free:) I had no problems. ( I always wait until the next morning to write my reviews lol)
I so wish I could give this restaurant a higher score. The food was delicious! But unfortunately, I still got glutened. They have a salad bar, which I was very careful not to get any dressings or gluten containing items. They have cheese rolls that are gluten free, which was very exciting. They continuously bring different kinds of meat to your table, which is awesome! But some of the meats are braised in beer. There is a big risk of cross contamination. I told the server about my celiac and he didn't seem incredibly knowledgeable about what items contained gluten. Other locations say they send a manager over to talk the customer through items to avoid that contain gluten. This location did not send the manager over. The meat was very good, but I will not be back due to cross contamination.
Knowledgable and attentive staff, unique dining experience, and delicious gluten free food! Almost all food offered is naturally gluten free, the only no-nos are the French bread and 1 or 2 pasta salads on the salad buffet and one of the chicken meats, but with so many other options, you'll be too stuffed with all the tasty sides, meats and salad options, you won't be missing anything!
Best ever tasting gf rolls, but something glutened me. The staff said stay away from chicken, sausage and bread at salad bar. I ate only meats, cheese and 1 bite of the gf roll. I suspect a spice rub had wheat. I was very clear expressing my needs, but was Still cross contaminated somehow... Too bad
Wow, this place is great. I told my server about my allergy and a manager came to talk to me about what my options were and walked me around the salad bar to point out what to avoid there as well. The only meat you have to avoid is the chicken. Most of the salad bar is okay too except for the obvious stuff — croutons, pasta, etc. The entire experience was amazing. The staff is really attentive and nice. The food was delicious and so was the wine. Well worth the price.

Probably the best meal I've ever had. Most options are gluten free, many are dairy too. They were extremely accommodating, serving my table's polenta fries without the parmesan and walking us through the gluten and dairy free meats. It was expensive, but it was 100% worth it. It is all-you-can eat and very high quality.
*Almost* everything in the place is gluten free. When I told the server I had a gluten allergy he had the manager come over to speak to me. She (the manager) showed me the two meats that were not gluten free due to a marinade or rub (the sausage and the bacon wrapped chicken leg and filet) and walked me through the salad bar to show me what was not gluten free. Several of the salad dressings she could not guarantee were safe due to label concerns, but there was a selection of oils and vinegars so it really didn't matter to me. The sides and table bread are also gluten free - mashed potatoes, fried bananas and fried polenta sticks. The bread is traditional Brazilian Pao de Queso, which is made with cassava flour (naturally gluten free). I should warn you, though - that bread is highly addictive. They also have Mexican Coca Cola (made with real cane sugar) in a glass bottle.
The waiters were very knowledgeable; I said I was gluten intolerant and he knew exactly what I could and couldn't have. Basically, the chicken legs and some of the premade salads on the salad bar were the only off-limits items. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant, but to be fair, you're not going there for the mashed potatoes. The meats were all very good, flavorful and cooked well. The fried polenta was delicious, and of course, the tapioca cheese bread was excellent. I love going to a place that offers gluten-free desserts, too. The creme brulee was lovely, and the coffee was outstanding. A return visit is definitely in order.
I'm giving this a 4 because they did a great job gluten free wise. Paul, the manager, was fantastic - he understood allergies and ensured we were taken care of. For the restaurant overall I'd give the restaurant a 3. We were at Fogo de Chao in Washington DC 6 months ago and their restaurant was much better. I felt like the restaurant in Chicago skimped a bit - the meat didn't come to our table as frequently and we ordered Caipirinha and we were asked if we wanted the premium / smoother version and we said no - just regular. There was not much alcohol in the ones we received. One of us lived in Brazil and knows how they should taste. They were perfect in Washington. For a $200 meal for 4, it should be perfect,
This is probably my favorite restaurant. My husband and I always take a trip downtown for my birthday so we can have dinner here. Even before I went GF. It is a meat-lover's paradise. They are incredibly accommodating. Just notify your server that you need to eat GF and they send the manager over to let you know what very few things you should not eat. When I went, the only things I couldn't eat were the salad dressings (because they are not made in house and therefore they cannot guarantee their safety), a pasta salad on the salad bar, and chicken that is marinated in beer. EVERYTHING else is safe to eat: HUGE and delicious salad bar (I use balsamic vinegar in place of the dressing), endless amounts of meats, fried polenta, caramelized bananas, mashed potatoes, and best of all the Brazilian cheese bread. In my opinion, this place is simply the best.
My family and I loved this place. I was pleasantly surprised when a server explained to me only a few items there are not gluten free. He was very knowledgable and told me every item that I could not eat. 1st time since I went gluten free that I didn't worry while eating out. Food was amazing and service was top notch. Perfect dining experience
