Always great service and food. Feel very comfortable with their gluten free options and knowing they are safely prepared.

There are two locations - this one, in Kona, was fantastic. The other in the Kings Shops area wasn’t so good.
Our server was Anna and she was super creative and flexible when I told her I’m a vegetarian. Ended up with a great meal! She was aware of celiac and the precautions needed.

We are gluten free and vegetarian. They don’t have too many options but went out of their way to accommodate and customize our menu. Our server, Ana was very knowledgeable and engaged in our ability to eat safely. They have a dedicated fryer.

They have a few glutenfree meals marked on their menu. I had the shrimp&grits, something special you wouldnt cook at home. It was nice. They also have a glutenfree chocolate torte which was good. They dont do reservations but you can go there and they put you on a waitlist if they dont have space. We waited 30 min in front of their restaurant and watched the sunset (nice spot).

Got the GF fish and chips and it was 10/10! So delicious and not something we can get GF very often. The tartare sauce was so nice and for anyone with a garlic allergy there was no garlic in the sauce.

I went here on a Saturday night for the GF fish and chips, as I've never seen that on a menu, and I had a very tasty meal. The restaurant is located on the second floor, with causal open air dining across the street from the bay. The place was buzzing with activity.

Lots of items marked “gluten sensitive” on the menu (not a fully GF kitchen). Server was very knowledgeable as well, and there is a dedicated GF fryer! My husband and I shared the fish and chips and NY strip entree. Delicious food, great view, and did not get sick!! Highly recommend

Had the gf fish and chips. First time I have had fried fish in a restaurant since diagnosed with celiac disease in 2016. It was delicious!! The fish was ono, very mild white fish. Highly recommend. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Ate here for dinner once in Kona, got the fish and chips and had tort for dessert. I didn't get sick and felt safe eating here. Wasn't a ton of options and food wasn't amazing but had a good view and good overall experience

Not a ton of gf items on the menu but the menu is well marked with options. A steak salad and fish n chips stood out. Went with fish and chips which was Marlin today. A super light cornbread breading. Fish was mild and very lean but moist. Tartar sauce super flavorful. Chips crispy and delicious. Verified a dedicated fryer. Also fantastic ocean views!

Just visited a couple days ago and both of our GF kids (celiac) had no issues. Ordered the fish and chips and we had no reactions. Had asked the server prior to ordering about the options and how things were prepared. Very understanding and helpful. I will add the “your mileage may vary” based on some other reviews but we approve and would eat there again with no concerns.

I was excited about this place based on reviews but both of the items I tested on my nima tested positive for gluten. I got the fish and chips, fries and fish tacos. The manager was very kind and comped my items. She offered to make me a salad too and I declined. I don’t understand how there are so many positive reviews but so glad I had my sensor so I did not get sick. Proceed with caution.

I very much enjoyed my meal here last night. I was able to try both the GF fish and chips and the GF blackened shrimp with cheesy grits. My daughter and I shared the two meals. Both were absolutely delicious. They have gluten-free options marked on the menu and a dedicated fryer for gluten-free items. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and was very helpful.

Great food and friendly staff. Do NOT park across the street on the roadside. It’s not marked as a no parking area and it will cost you a tow and a HEFTY ticket if you do. #welearnedthehardway #ouch

Went to Fosters with a group that had several people with Celiac and several with dairy allergies. GF items were clearly marked on the menu. The waitress was very helpful and patient and knowledgeable. The fish tacos were amazing. There is a dedicated fryer for french fries. Another person had the fried fish and chips and loves it. Nobody in our party got sick after wards. We went a second day and again, the food was delicious and nobody got sick. Would definitely go back again.

My wife and I were very impressed with Foster’s. We ate at several restaurants in Kona that had high ratings from this app, and my impression was that Foster’s was the safest. Our server was very knowledgeable about celiac disease and about their food preparation processes and safety. They have a dedicated food prep space and a dedicated fryer. This was the first time I was able to eat fish & chips in a long time. Highly recommended.

Good choice of gf menu items. I ordered the catch of the day (mahi-mahi) with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The meal was fresh, light and delicious. The atmosphere was great. Nice ocean view with 2nd story outdoor seating. The only issue we had was with the waitress. She seemed annoyed when I sent back my glass of water that she brought out rim to rim with my husbands Kona brew. After explaining celiac disease, she seemed a slightly better. She did also check with another staff member about the paper straws they use. Btw, they are “footprint” brand and are gluten free. So, overall, the food was great, service was ok.

There is a dedicated gluten free fryer, so my (Celiac) son was ecstatic. There were plenty of GF options, and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable; however, the food was just okay. I had fish, and it was simple but fresh; coleslaw was on the sweet side like NC/southern style, so northern palates might be surprised.
My daughter ordered a homemade lemonade, and it tasted like watered down lemonade. On a plus side, the local ciders were absolutely amazing—hibiscus lemonade cider is delish.
We had a table near the water, and the view was spectacular. Overall, we wouldn’t go back simply for the food, BUT we didn’t get sick and had plenty of options.

Great food, fantastic location. GF is marked but I think there’s probably a lot more options available to be made gf that aren’t noted. That and they were out of the fish tacos is the only reason it’s a 4 instead of a 5. My daughter was able to have the shrimp and grits and the fish and chips and enjoyed both and had no reaction so that’s about all we can ask.

I ate here based on all the positive reviews, waiting an hour to get a table. I let the waitress know I had celiac disease, and she commented that they deal with that all the time, they understand cross contamination, etc. I ordered the gf fish and chips that are made in the dedicated fryer. They tested positive for gluten with my nima. I then asked for a steak (labeled gf) with mashed potatoes and specified that it needed to cooked in a separate pan. That too tested positive for gluten in my nima. Signs at the restaurant say they are understaffed - maybe that was the issue. I left without eating anything.

This place is so delicious and CELIAC APPROVED!! A must visit restaurant in Kona!! Super friendly staff who know and empathize with the struggle of having to eat gluten free. I got the fish and chips with garlic truffle fries, which was to die for!! They have a separate airfryer for gluten free foods and I felt so comfortable eating there I also got some ribs and mashed potatoes for the next day. They don't take reservations and they do close at 8 on the weekdays and 9 on the weekends so I highly recommend getting there no later than 6 pm, the wait was an hour, but totally worth it!!! Not getting sick on vacation can be so difficult, but this place knows what they're doing and I can say with complete confidence that this is the place for celiacs!
