In-N-Out Burger

I ate here three times during my stay. I always went inside to order and informed them of my allergy. I watched them all three times make my “protein style” animal style cheeseburger and they washed hands/changed gloves every time. It was such a delight as a celiac and be treated serious.

Had no problems with cross contamination, just went with a large group and placed my order separately to avoid cross contamination on the trays. They did accidentally mess up one of the regular burgers in the other order but I felt confident with mine because I saw **ALLERGY** marked on all tickets and the allergy was also called off on the handoff to me. I would say this experience lined up with all my other In-N-Out experiences in a large metropolitan area and didn't disappoint. Now, if you have never been to this establishment, they have a very simple menu and really only one choice for Celiacs which is a "protein style" hamburger or cheeseburger which is wrapped in lettuce. They do not have gluten free buns. The fries are safe as nothing but the fries are put in the fryer. Knowing I had limited choices (which honestly is just a modified version of an already simple menu) I love this place, but I can see if someone isn't prepared for that it might seem underwhelming. I'm just happy to have a Celiac safe fast food option which is amazing if you think about it.

I have had reactions twice at In & Out and couldn't figure out why until I watched them cook the burger. They toast the bun on the same surface they cook the meat. Bingo. In&Out is not safe for Celiacs even with protein style burger.

Tell them you are gluten free and they will note it in the order. Get burgers “protein style” for a lettuce wrap instead of buns. Fries are 100% safe! Never had any issues here, just don’t forget to tell them you have a gluten allergy so they take the necessary precautions for CC

I had heard it would be safe and I was not disappointed. Dedicated fryer for fries. Burger served protein style (lettuce wrapped) and on separate tray from rest of non GF order. Employee verified gluten allergy on fries and burger order. Symptom free and first fries in 4 months!

HUGE shout out to the staff at this establishment today. This was my first dine out experience at fast food since being diagnosed with lupus and celiacs. The young lady at the register quadruple checked my order and also verified with the manager and working staff about it coming through. Then once my order came up the manager stood at the counter until it was picked up telling everyone to keep my order seperate from my son and husbands (non gluten free) order. I felt so incredibly safe and can’t say enough how much that meant to me today. Thank you
