They had a great gluten-free menu and I ordered the volcano nachos. 30 minutes later I am super sick. Ruined what should have been a great day.
We were happy to see they had a gluten free menu and had plenty of options. We got an order of the volcano nachos and I got the cheese burger in paradise on a gf bun. The nachos were HUGE and amazing! The burger was average but the fries (made in a separate fryer) were perfect! We left there so full I never wanted to eat again but I didn't get sick at all so mission accomplished!
Good GF menu- however I ordered the chicken breasts and the chicken was still raw so they made me a new one and once again the chicken was raw. It was a shame because it looked like a good place for gluten free.
Enjoyed the GF grouper sandwich on a flavorful bun. Avocado and bacon accompanies the sandwich. gF fries too! I believe our server 'took care of me'.
Good selection on the GF menu including entrees, burger, fish sandwich, and some salads. Food is decent, I enjoyed the NY strip much more than the grouper which didn't taste fresh. I was disappointed with the margarita though!
dedicated fryer and the fries were amazing! the bar was able to accommodate my needs and the burger/gf bun was amazing. Entertainment was a Bonus and I didn't get sick!
The volcano nachos were amazing!!! Dedicated fryer for the chips!!! I had the grouper sandwich with GF bun and OMG! Amazing. Fries are also cooked in dedicated fryer!
Fabulous GF meal. Volcano nachos were great. Server was extremely knowledgable.
Great meal! The gf taco salad is good. Made with chili and not over spicy. I also had the gf brownie sundae which was terrific! Hostess asked if we needed a gf menu before we were even seated. My meal was delivered by a separate waitstaff member but at the same time.
Separate gluten free menu with several different options, including nachos and a brownie sundae. Burgers are served on GF rolls and fries are fried in a separate fryer. Staff seemed knowledgeable both times I've been!
Ordered nachos with just cheese for my 8yr old celiac. Beware- the nachos can only have shredded cheese on them- they cannot confirm the cheese sauce is GF. The first batch did have cheese sauce, chef came out, apologized and brought a new batch.
Chicken Caesar salad was awesome... not too terribly expensive ... bartenders very knowledgeable about gluten free food and alcohol
one word. NACHOS huge nachos that I ate as my meal. couldn't finish them. tried to have desert and couldn't finish that either. very good
They had gluten free and vegetarian menus at the hostess stand. The menu had some great options and they heard to them when I told the server I needed my meals gluten free. The manager brought out my meal and I had a gluten free drink at the bar and desert. No reaction and I am very sensitive. The dessert was so big it could feed all four of us so I had left overs for tomorrow. Very happy!!!!!!
Nachos were delish and fish sandwich with fries was also amazing. Sensitive celiac with no issues! Server even asked if we wanted to meet and ask the chef questions.
Great food and gf fries
They have a nice GF menu, but DO NOT execute it. I was there today with my son and I ordered the nachos. When it arrived I noticed they didn't put the chili on it so I started to eat it thinking it was under the mound of chips. When the server came by I asked about the chili and she said it should've been there. She came back with some chili and said the cheese sauce wasn't gf, and that was most certainly on the chips that I had already eaten. She took them away and a manager came out with a new order and I had to explain that I had already eaten the non GF cheese sauce. We ended up having to leave and go home so I wasn't getting sick at the park. :( Very very disappointing.
Great GF menu. I had the blackened grouper sandwich and sweet potato fries. Yum!!!!
They have a dedicated gluten free menu. The staff is awesome, and they are willing to accommodate for gluten free. Their buffalo wings are NOT on the gluten free menu only because they are fried in the regular oil. The cook was willing to bake them for me instead, which took a little longer but it was worth it. Love this place!
If you have celiac I would NOT recommend. The service was horrible and I ordered a burger with a gluten free bun and the bun must have been the regular because I got very sick after!!!
We have Celiac - this restaurant is awesome!!! 2 page GF menu including a brownie sundae dessert option! Dedicated fryer for French fries! Delicious food and many options.
I would highly recommend eating here! delicious burgers with gf buns, appetizers, margaritas and knowledgeable staff. we ordered nachos and the waiter knew that they had changed brands for their cheese sauce and the new one isn't gluten free - he made sure the chef put shredded cheese instead.
Eat there every time we visit Universal and never had a problem. Love being able to get a burger and fries! Their buns are good too, larger than the ones you can get in stores. Love the margaritas too - the margarita flight is also GF and amazing! Makes for a very fun meal :)
Great experience and great food!!!
Very good experience and would go back again. Server was very experienced and even brought chef out to reassure me. Used separate grill and fryer. Had cheeseburger on gf bun and fries with no issues. I tipped extra for their great service, which doesn't seem to happen too often with CD and everyone being on the gf band wagon these days..
food is very good they have a gluten free macadamia nut brownie that is fantastic and gluten free rolls and a separate fryer for their fries :)
Really tasty burger seemed very knowledgable on GF food prep.
Awesome and huge volcano nachos from separate GF menu. Bun on my burger was delicious. Not a lot of GF options but enough to have a nice experience. GF brownie dessert was great!
not sure what the other reviews are referring to, staff was knowledgeable and the menus are wonderful. Dedicated frier, frys, burgers on GF buns.... yes its a great place! Update...spoke to manager and for a few months they removed the GF offering its back with more offerings. thanks and enjoy
They have a gluten free menu now, with some great options, yes to the gf brownie, they have a dedicated fryer for the fries too
The others are correct. There used to be a gluten free menu; however, they have refreshed their entire menu and the gluten free one is still pending review. It should be available early 2014. However, ask for the chef, don't rely on the servers, because there are soooooo many gluten free options available to you. Including GF burger buns, a delicates fryer for fries, wings, nachos etc.. And yes even a GF brownie. Read my entire GF review of their refreshed menu on my blog: http://www.celiacinorlando.com/2013/margaritaville/
the entire menu has gluten...fried, breaded, etc. there is no gf menu, although I was told that they are working on it. Big disappointment.
We always come to Margaritaville on City Walk when we're in Orlando and my wife always orders from the gluten-free menu and everything is always great. Today, though, they don't have a gluten-free menu and they act like they have never heard of gluten-free. She ordered the gluten-free brownie and the waitress keeps coming to the table asking if she can have whipped cream, or chocolate syrup, or a cherry. Of course she can. We're a little worried about how this is going to work out but we're hoping for the best. UPDATE: the brownie is usually great. This time it is too crunchy and the ice cream is freezer-burned. Way, way too expensive for that to be okay, but what can you do? Probably just won't come back here again.
Very helpful and good options with gluten free buns! Bartenders made special drink sampler with all safe ingredients for me and waiter really worked with me and took gf seriously!
I have never reviewed a restaurant ever! The Margaritaville Burger with GF bun was the best we ever ate! Amazing! Thank you for making our lives easy and delicious.
Separate menu just forgluten-free. Great burger, bun was soft and not crumbly! Fries were good! The Volcano Nachos were huge (big enough for a whole family), recommend sharing! They offered to send the chef out to answer questions. Very accommodating!
I was really impressed that the waitress took special care to speak with the chef to make sure we were ok with our order. Super nice. They have gluten free beer so I could have a beer with my cheese burger, French fries and dill pickle. It was nice that they had an actual bun to go with the burger. But it was really dry and crumbly. I've spent a lot of time perfecting bread so I'm a little critical. There are tons of other gluten free options other than a hamburger and I think I would have enjoyed them a lot. But being I was at margarita ville I took the tourist option. There were two dessert options - a brownie sundae and a peanut butter pie. We has no room to try them but they sure looked yummy and I appreciate the efforts to give is choices. Thank you!
favorite place to eat! they have several g-free options.
Our first time eating here and we really enjoyed it! The atmosphere can be a bit noisy, as a heads up... choose your seating wisely. Menu-wise, they have dedicated gluten-free AND vegetarian menus! Such a plus. The green beans (vegetarian option) impressed us the most. Not overly salty or buttery, just a refreshingly balanced seasoning.
I recently visited Pigeon Forge and decided to try Margaritaville. We ended up going twice during our trip. Our waitress was very nice and seemed to know about the importance of Gluten free food. I had the cheeseburger in Paradise and never got sick. Except for eating too much. Our second visit was a little different. Our waiter was nice and seemed to know a little about gluten free but he told me that someone would come and talk to me. What I am guessing to be the kitchen manager or someone along those lines came out and said, "so we have a gluten allergy / someone with Celiac Disease over here?" I said yes. he said " well you have no need to worry, just sit back and relax and we will take care of you. I will personally bring your food to you." i said thank you and we waited for our food. the food came out great and once again I didn't get sick other than eating too much. I plan to return during my next trip.
Awesome selection and knowledgeable staff
Drunken shrimp skillet was very good! It came with gf bread and being able to dip it in the garlic butter sauce made me feel like a real person (I hope that makes sense) I also had the burger and fries, very good and even a gf dessert option that I'm currently too full to try but is a brownie and ice cream.
Fries are prepared in a dedicated fryer. Son didn't get sick. He had the burger with a gluten free bun & he said the bun was "decent" but was thrilled to be able to have fries!
I had the chicken sandwich and French fries. They use Udi's buns for the bread and they also have a dedicated fryer. They also said they have a separate kitchen area where they prep all of the gluten free food. The waitress was very knowledgable and very kind in answering in questions I had! The food was wonderful and I no sickness 😍😍
Had the grilled chicken sandwich. Best GF bun I've ever tasted, my partner was worried it wasn't GF it was that good. Our waiter Chris was very knowledgable and attentive, reassured me that he will have a word with the chef as I'm celiac. Loses one star as he came out and told me there was an issue with the fries and I couldn't have them, but I'm glad he let me know!
good place for a burger or nachos. Has dedicated fryer for fries. Staff is very well trained. Loses a star for having an amazing dessert on the menu but not carried anymore. Talk to Wyndham scammers enough to get free drink ticket with 25 purchase Update: 2 out of 3 good experiences. third we got onion petal fragments all over food. Nobody knew how it happened but we got a comp meal...
Waitress was very helpful and understanding regarding my Celiac's disease. I ordered the Cheeseburger in Paradise on GF bun and fries. They use a dedicated fryer for the fries and they're always GF! It was very good and I felt "normal" being able to eat a bun with my burger!!! Recommend!
Two members of our party have Celiac. One ordered a gluten-free hamburger with fries and the other ordered a chicken Caesar salad. The gluten-free burger was prepared correctly however the salad came with croutons on it. The croutons were not gluten-free. The manager was sincere in his apology, however the damage was done. The manager did comp us a gluten-free brownie for the mistake. Aside from the croutons, the gf burger was good and so was the service.
I would give 0 stars if I could! I was so excited to get the GF nachos. They tasted great, but I haven't gotten this sick in YEARS. Something was way off!
They had a lot of options and the fries were delicious! I am very sensitive and had no problems.
meh... it was ok. overpriced but they did have a gluten free menu. but the food was just ok. $15 for a gluten free cheeseburger in paradise or chicken sandwich. i probably wont be back with all the other choices around.
They didn't have a gluten free menu available, but the waitress was able to tell me what was gluten free, including drinks. I had the Volcano Nachos and they were super tasty. And I didn't get sick so that's a bonus! I was told their fries are gluten free too as they have a separate fryer.
Saw online that they have a gluten free menu, which was the reason my family decided to come here. Got to the restaurant and found out that they do not have a printed out version. Spent 20 minutes on my phone to pull up the menu online only to find out that I originally saw the menu for the NASHVILLE location. They have different menus for each restaurant. We payed for our drinks and left. Felt like a bait and switch. Probably could have eaten but I don't like giving my money to a restaurant that makes me feel like I've been tricked. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. gluten free or not. (only gave one star because I had to)
Had the taco salad and felt sick afterwards. Don't think it was gluten free. The chips made me feel very bloated. Don't think they are gluten free.
This was my first time at Margaritaville. We came for the gluten-free menu. I was only disappointed that the brownie sundae on the gluten-free menu is no longer available--we were really looking forward to it. We got the volcano nachos to share (must be a shared item because it is HUGE). I was disappointed that there is a bit a gluten-free kids menu, I was going to ask for the Jr cheeseburger sans buns and pick apples or carrots for the side, but we decided to share instead (she's 7). We maybe ate half of the volcano, but I'm satisfied. The nachos were $15.99 and i know would have spent a lot more for less food elsewhere. I got the blended Who's to Blame margarita. $9.75 Not the place is done at regularly, but on vacation with few other gluten-free choices, absolutely.
Excellent experience here, twice. Separate prep area for gluten free foods, and follows proper prep protocol (fresh gloves, utensils, etc.). Drinks are pricey - they trade off Buffett's name obviously - but you're in the tourist section of the harbor, so I lived with it. Fun fact: Jimmy's sister Lucy Buffett owns Lulu's in Destin. Check them out too.
Food was reasonable and my celiac girlfriend didn't have any after affects from eating here, but we found the staff to be quite rude. We first ordered drinks at the bar, but after the bar staff couldn't understand 'coke' 3 times, he just didn't serve us the drink. When I went over after we ordered food (and forgetting to order the drink) I was told I'd have to ask the waitress and waited another 15 minutes or order it.
We tried Margaritaville on the Vegas Strip last night. There is a good selection on the gf menu. Our waitress, Tess, caught my mistake of trying to order from the vegetarian side instead of the gf side. This small act saved me from a world of hurt. I'm so grateful for that. i ordered the volcano nachos. Do not order this if you are by yourself, you will never finish it. the portion is HUGE! And delicious. They have a dedicated fryer and are very careful & conscious when prepping food. I am so happy I have options when traveling. I am highly sensitive intolerant to gluten.
We went here for our last night of our family vacation....Huge mistake! They had a 2hr wait but we were willing to wait due to the fact that my sister and two yr old daughter both have celiac disease and had heard this place was good about cross contamination. We had a large group of 16. 6 of those being children. When they took us to our table they split us up (which was fine) but both tables were dirty. When we asked if they needed to be cleaned a passing waiter said "That's as good as it gets." Really??? Ok so we cleaned the table and sat down. My sister and I made sure we sat at the same table to make things easier about the gluten free order. Unfortunately it took them 15 mins to take our drink orders. The other half of our group had their drinks before we could order ours. The waiter did seem knowledgable about gluten free options and was able to assure us that the food was prepared in a separate area. We didn't get our food until 45 mins later! When the food was brought out my sisters nachos were wrong and had to be fixed. My daughter's hamburger was also wrong but by this point she was half starved and I didn't want to mess with it. The waiter explained to the other table that he was normally a bartender but they were short staffed which may have been the problem that the service was slow and food was wrong but still when you worry that things have to be done right so your not horribly sick later than this service is not what you want. I don't recommend this place! To expensive for the taste of the food and the type of service! I can't recommend that this place is celiac friendly when I'm scared in the horribly prepared food and the shortness of staff that they didn't screw up our food and contaminate it.
Stopped here for lunch a few days ago. Had a great experience. Staff was knowledgeable about gf and were very accommodating - no eye rolls or acting like it was a burden. Had the Cheeseburger in Paradise with fries. It was pretty decent - not the best burger I've ever had, but it was a good solid, SAFE gluten free meal. Would recommend.
My family and I went here for dinner despite another person saying they were contaminated. We did Not share his experience. We had a wonderful meal! I had the fish sandwich on a gluten-free bun and the French fries. ( Yes they have a dedicated fryer) We ended up eating there twice while in Gatlinburg and both times had a great experience with knowledge staff who were very attentive to our gf needs.
Very accommodating to our food allergies. Out server was nice and checked on several items for my boys. They are gluten, dairy, and soy free and I am gluten free. They each had a child's hamburger plain with no cheese. One had lettuce on his. The had apple slices for sides. I had the chicken with mango salsa. They loved the burgers and my food was excellent.
As a celiac vegetarian, it's hard to find options on most meat-based GF menus. Margaritaville is similar, but the server allowed me to get the chili on the side of my nachos so my boyfriend could have it instead. The nachos were great, and HUGE, and apparently safe from cross contamination! I really appreciated that the bartender was cautious when I ordered my drink, as he wasn't sure the watermelon flavoring was GF. The only hiccup was when our food was delivered all together – the server ended up dropping a crouton from my boyfriend's salad into the edge of the serving plate my food was on. I saw it immediately and removed it before it could touch my food, but it would have been a nightmare had it fallen into the actual food. I know the restaurant is busy, but this is why it's helpful to have a second server or manager deliver allergy-prepped food!
Celiac / gluten-free review Fantastic service and concern for gluten free. Not my favorite food or prices but will support regardless due to fantastic diligence and support for rating gluten free. Even had dedicated gluten free menu. + Gluten free chili nachos!!! 😃
Ordered from the gluten free menu the volcano nachos for an appetizer. Was told that the gluten free chips were fried in a different dedicated fryer. 15 mins from my first bite and I was in a full blown wheat/gluten ingest reaction not just a contamination. We had to leave and immediately return to the hotel room. Worst reaction I've had in 15 years of diagnosis. Would not recommended this to anyone with celiac.
Our waitress was awesome and very helpful with helping me with gluten free alcohol drink. she went to ask the bartender about some gluten free drinks I could have. she even made sure to tell me that the french fries were gluten free and were fried in a separate fryer then any of the other foods.
I've been living with a pretty severe wheat allergy for close to 10 years now and have had a wide array of restaurant experiences some not so great but never truly bad until eating here. I am typically very skeptical of trying new places but I was in Destin on vacation and this is one of the few places that seemed to have enough good reviews for me to try it. I wish I hadn't. A few hours after eating something from the gluten free menu I was feeling pretty bad; not horrible to the point that they botched the whole gluten free thing but more like a cross contamination issue. I would suspect the fries as the culprit but can't be totally sure. I wish I could say that I had a great meal and got sick but alas I can't. The meal itself was pretty bad. I had the flat iron steak and somehow it came out tasting repulsive. Some of this can probably be attributed to it coming out rare (like still mooing rare) when I asked for medium but not totally. It tasted horrible either way. I would have sent it back to the kitchen had the waitress come around before everyone else in my party finished their food. Which brings me to the service portion of of this review which can pretty much be summed up as appalling. We saw our waitress maybe 5 times and she was very unfriendly throughout. So just to sum up everything I've said... Gluten Free friendly: no Food quality: terrible Service: appalling Needless to say I won't ever try any of the restaurants in this chain again. Maybe I just had a bad experience and all the stars aligned to create a truly awful time but I've shared my experience and you can decide if eating here is worth it.
