I can’t say enough about how amazing this experience was! We had French fries, best ever!, lobster carbonara, shrimp risotto, clams, crème brûlée. Everything was safe and tasted so good. Can’t wait to go back.

Great experience! Waitress was very knowledgeable. We did not have a reservation and they made it possible for us to eat with our visiting family in spite of being fully booked. My meal was amazing and no issues!! I had shrimp, risotto and green beans! Will be back soon!

They're great with keeping the GF foods safe and have a lot of options. Separate area of kitchen, according to website. There's even a dedicated fryer so you can have GF fries! We appreciate all that so much. Today was our second visit. I had looked at the menu online beforehand. It didn't match the printed menu, so I asked our server. She said any sandwich or pasta could be GF. But when my kid ordered the fried fish sandwich, no one told us it wouldn't be fried. There's a GF fryer so we expected fried fish, or to be told it wasn't fried. My kid was disappointed. We knew it was safe but it was a big disappointment. My kid didn't feel comfortable with me complaining in person. But I'm not sure we'll be back. Pricey but that’s typical for Newport.

Great experience with a weird hiccup. I was told it was gf linguini, so I was excites to not get the standard penne, then I got the darn undercooked penne. Disappointed but it was super safe and the scallops were the best I've had. Very knowledgeable.

Jo's is a great little spot slightly off the beaten path. They have tons of gf options that are prepped in a different area of the kitchen and a dedicated fryer. Gf rolls, pasta, even desserts! I got a gf lobster roll with gf fries! They were both super delicious! Had the creme brulee because I was so full already but they had a flourless chocolate cake as well. And Jo herself came by to ask how my gf dish was which I thought was super nice. The dirty martini featuring titos was delicious as well. Would definitely go back when we visit Newport again!

Food was great. My daughter ( celiac) got a burger and fries from a dedicated fryer. I got a delicious bacon, onion jam burger and fries, and my husband (celiac) got the GF lobster carbonara…it was amazing. We also had mussels as an app. The staff were very knowledgeable. Nice atmosphere!

The owner of this restaurant has Celiacs and you could tell that she trained her staff to be extremely careful when it comes to gluten allergies. I had lobster carbonara and it was one of the best dishes I have had since being gluten free. All of the gluten free food comes on plates with a blue rim so the staff knows to be very careful with it. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and very accommodating. I would highly recommend if you’re in the area.

The food was great! The majority of their menu was gluten free or could be made gluten free. The black GF labels indicate an item that can be mage gluten free and the regular GF symbol indicates a dish that is always gluten free. Their fries are always gluten free and cooked to perfection! Our server, Tracey, was so attentive to my GF and other dietary restrictions. She really knew what questions to ask, knew the menu, and checked with the chef when unsure of one thing. The food here was beyond exceptional. I am gf and df and they were so easily able to accommodate me. So easy to substitute. My girlfriend has no food allergies and absolutely loved her food as well although everything she got was gluten free! My girlfriend said the scallops were the best she has ever had. We have 2 kids with Celiac, who are also very sensitive to cross-contamination, and this place was safe and a great place to eat for dinner. Love eating here because I know all my dishes are 100% safe. Anything that is ordered GF is made and served from a separate kitchen area and prepared by a different chef. We had the kindest, most helpful, server! A woman with curly hair - I wish I remembered her name! The menu is clearly marked, she answered all our questions, and I was happy to learn they don't upcharge for gf pasta. It was a real treat to have the Lobster Calamari!

This was mine and my husband’s favorite meal in Newport. I ordered the shrimp with risotto and my husband ordered the chicken (also GF). I’ve never had risotto this flavorful and with a hint of sweetness. It came with five huge pieces of shrimp were super fresh and cooked to perfection. The owner came to our table a few times and talked to us about the GF needs and was very attentive and personally made sure our food was prepared GF. The menu had several options for GF so you could easily come here a few times and have a completely different experience. We sat upstairs and they had the windows open so you could feel the breeze as you overlooked the streets of Newport. Absolutely 10/10 recommend this restaurant!

Ordered a salad with grilled chicken for my wife who has celiacs. Explicitly told them of her need for safely prepared food. Assured me it would be marked and in a separate bag. Bags came salad was in a separate bag, but the chicken was in the bag with the other food and not marked as gluten free. I called them to check if they remembered if the chicken was okay and happened to have been placed in the wrong bag. They couldn’t tell me but, did offer to replace or refund it. So, after that, she did not eat the chicken, and STILL got sick from the salad. This place clearly isn’t aware of what’s needed to keep people from getting sick when it comes to gluten/celiacs. Don’t let the 5 star reviews on here fool you. It’s not a guarantee you’ll be okay here. Don’t let them ruin your weekend.

I also noticed on my receipt, nothing mentions GF for any portion of the order. I was assured over the phone and then they totally dropped the ball.

What an amazing place! I had a grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free roll with fries and house made pickles. It was Amazing!!!! So many gluten free options to pick from. Also drinks are labeled gluten free.
