Great service. Sooo gluten free friendly. First time in over a decade that I have been able to order fried calamari. So good. Gluten free clam chowder also good, says my husband. Hassle free, delicious. Wish we had a Legal Sea Food in California.
I make sure I visit one of their locations whenever I am in town. Delicious gf fish and chips and gf dinner rolls.
Sooo good! Bring out gf rolls which are amazing! They can make almost everything without gluten! Fries have dedicated fryer! They also can make fried seafood gluten free! I wish we had one of these back where I live!
Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free- including their bread and fried food
I had a fair number of entree options here, but they did not have any gluten free desserts. Overall the food was good, but my moms tuna was very overcooked and my dish was somewhat bland. That said, I didn't get sick!
Food was incredible and I made sure to specify that I had celiac disease. The manager (rather than my server) brought my food out just to acknowledge that it was GF, which was very nice. The GF rolls (free of charge) were warm and absolutely delicious! I got the fish and chips and my meal was huge and just wonderful. Will be coming back next time I'm in Boston.
I don't usually even like seafood, but I find that anything I have ordered is quite good at Legal Seafood. They have a dedicated gf fryer, and they take you seriously when you say you're celiac. I didn't get poisoned when I ate there, and I tend to react to very small amounts. You can eat here with confidence.
Had a really great meal. Staffs were really helpful in recommending suitable meals for gluten and dairy free. ;)
The gluten-friendly menu was extensive. The gluten-free roils and the fish and chips were great. The service was excellent and the attention to detail due to my Celiac's was outstanding. Would recommend Legal Sea Foods to anyone.
My daughter could not be more thrilled when they brought over the GF rolls "delicious!" She declared, beaming with a smile. And then to have GF croutons on her salad!! She was in heaven. My wife and I had very good lobster rolls, that were not short on the meat. Will definitely return.
Legal has a great GF menu and the Copley Place location seems particularly good.
One of the few places I've found with battered fried seafood and it was excellent. Lots of other choices and gluten free rolls.
Great order: blackened sashimi tuna appetizer hold cucumber sauce on side. Gluten free rolls. Very attentive waiters once you declare gluten/dairy allergy. Tuna everywhere hold some if the sauces also great choice.
Best GF experience to date. Dedicated GF menu. Waitress told me that all items for a GF customer are run by the chef for approval. They even brought me freshly baked GF rolls before my meal, and they were very tasty.
5 stars because they have such a great GF menu and fried food is always a treat!
Thank god for legals! No one has tried harder to push the gluten free/celiac cause than these guys. While some say it taste like chain food I think they have managed to stay ahead of other chains and their stale menus or bland food. Legals uses GF ingredients and fryers for all of their fried food and is very careful with cross contamination. Where else can you get fried fish, bread and clam chowder that is GF!? I would love it if they had lobster rolls with GF bread or hot dog bun, others have mastered this and it wouldn't take much (yes they will make with their GF rolls but its just not the same). Please don't criticize Legals even if you don't love the food because they have done so much to advance GF/Celiac causes and it's not just for the diet fad, they have real allergic sufferers in mind.
Happy with my visit. I had a crabmeat sandwich (because it was $10 cheaper than a lobster sandwich). It came on a soft, warm, flaky GF bun. I'm told the fries are safe, but I think they serve some other breaded and fried things. Regular menu is clearly marked with things that are or can be made GF. Much appreciated! Many options. Sandwiches are reasonably priced . (Most are $15-25). Some reviewer said the whole kitchen is GF. That's not true.
Menu lists gf sandwiches without any reference to no gluten free buns or rolls. So basically it's a pile of food on a plate. The manager, Juan, was cordial in telling us we should have known. Again, they are sold as gluten free Sandwiches but the menu says nothing about no gluten free bread or rolls for the sandwich to come on. What a shitty experience, LS used to be outstanding with gf.
LSF was recommended on a travel Website and was a quick 2 min walk from the Hilton. The server, Meredith, was bright and bubbly, and very passionate about the food and restaurant, especially the Gluten-Free options. On her recommendation I ordered the GF Fish and Chips and their GF beer. Being from NZ, I am always a starter for good F&C. Their attention to the many GF options and to food handling is outstanding. F&C looked great. But lacked flavour (needed salt and 'something' in the batter). Onion straws were dry. Chips the stringy McDonald type and a bit cool. GF beer was great. I will go back, but probably opt for the Snapper, which looked great at next table.
Was really wowed by attention to detail on cross contamination. Server asked if the grill was ok or if I needed a clean skillet. Despite being quite busy, the manager was alerted and delivered my meal personally. Delicious food and great cocktail menu.
Love love love!!! Lots of great options, me and my mom swear by this place. I am allergic to dairy and gluten so eating out at a place I can enjoy safely can be fairly daunting. I let them know and they told me if they could do certain dishes. Gluten free dishes are clearly marked with a little leaf. I cannot eat the fried foods as the batter has dairy, but i can appreciate gluten free fried food even if I can't eat it! I had the snapper verde with fries and spinach and it was AMAZING. Food is pricey so be mindful, but if you can swing it then it is very worth it!
Gluten free options AMAZING! I had fried fish and chips too with fried onion strings and I almost cried! It was really good even for my non gf husband. He said the batter was perfect. 👍🏻. The salad was fresh and tasty and the GM brought over hot gluten free rolls with butter which were the best gf rolls I've ever had. Still a little drier than regular, but with butter on the top you barely notice. He explained that from their point of view many are trying to avoid gluten and desire more healthy eating, so they are doing their best to meet the need. The gf options on the menu were extensive. Each item that could be made gf had a little icon beside it making it very easy to scan the options. My husband said the clam chowder was really good too. The fish and chips were $20 which is a bit high, but when I tasted it, it was amazing. The price might limit me from visiting as often as I'd like, but I'll be back!
The fried items marked GF on the menu are cooked in a shared fryer. Our server made us aware of this prior to our order, so we were able to avoid these items. I wish they would mark this on the menu. Beyond this issue, my experiences at the Legal Test Kitchen in South Boston have been overwhelmingly positive. The servers are very knowledgeable, the restaurant offers good gluten free rolls, and GF items are delivered separately to the table by the manager. Lots of good menu options.
This is the only place in the Metrowest area that I know that has gluten free baked stuffed lobster and it is truly delicious!! Gluten free calamari is awesome and the sides available are excellent. This may be pricey to some but it's worth every dime if you want to really enjoy a tasty gluten free meal.
A very nice experience. The newly remodeled interior & some interesting additions to the gluten free options makes it worth another visit. Now the regular menu is marked with an icon to help you make selections.
This is the Oysteria location. The staff was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about gluten allergies. Their fryers are completely gluten free and many of their non-fried menu items are as well. They would get 5 stars from me if my pizza crust was cooked all the way. That was the only problem here. Loved the staff, the atmosphere, and the food.
I have a toddler with Celiac's. When I asked our waitress if items on the children's menu could be made gluten free she looked at me as if I had 2 heads. She then huffed off to go check with the kitchen. I ended up ordering mashed potatoes with the meal and she rolled her eyes at me and asked if mashed potatoes were gluten free. I told her they should be since it's usually potatoes, milk and butter. They did bring my son out a gluten free roll and the manager brought us my son's plate and checked in with us a couple times to make sure my son liked the meal. If not for the rude waitress it would have been an enjoyable dining experience.
Saturday night (September 3, 2016) we were seated at the second floor for our daughters engagement party. I have celiac disease, (autoimmune disease to gluten) I cannot eat out often because of cross contamination issues in kitchens of restaurants. I called a few days before the event and spoke to Randy the manager. He assured me he could provide me with a safe meal. I placed our order with him over the phone. When we arrived, Randy and our waiter (can't remember his name) could not have been more accommodating. They met with me prior to taking orders, reviewed everything, brought my food and drinks out separately, reassuring me throughout the evening. And they did it discreetly as none of the other guests were aware. I can not tell you how grateful I am for having this experience and that Randy went above and beyond to make my food safe. Right down to dessert! You really never know until after an hour of eating if everything has gone safely, but yes it did. To be able to enjoy my daughter and future son inlaws engagement gathering, was the biggest gift Legal Harborside Dining could have given us. Thank you Randy for all that you did. I appreciate it more than you ever know. Sincerely Maria Newman
I have gotten sick here twice. The first time, I'm not sure what happened. The second time, they used the spicy breading instead of the gluten free one. Both times were during slow times of day. The afternoon wait staff seem disinterested. I have never had a problem with the one in short hills even though they are much busier.
A rich GF menu amd the waitress seemed very familiar with gluten issues. She was supportive when when we asked for a glove change. She took it upon herself to offer our kids GF rolls which my son enjoyed a great deal. They were willing to make items on the kids menu from scratch for the kids also. The manager delivered the GF dishes. Great experience.
Brought my kids (both have celiac) to Legal Seafoods for lunch today. They were able to make the fish sticks and the chicken tenders from the kids menu completely gluten-free and safe from cross-contamination for my kids to enjoy. French fries were also gluten-free and in a dedicated fryer so they were safe. After a few bites, both my kids jumped up in the booth and shouted we "love it here"! So excited to finally find a local place our entire family can enjoy.
Since 2005, Legal Seafoods has been celiac friendly as they don't use flour at all. Both of our young kids have Celiac and eating at Legals was such a treat. All their seafood, french fries, chicken fingers, etc are safely gluten free! They also serve GF rolls which were delicious. No need to worry about cross contamination here. The food was all delicious, as always! Now we just need a Legals in CT!
As others note, thus location is NOT celiac friendly, although the current menu notes some fried foods as GF our waiter pointed out the coating is GF BUT only one fryer! You can get GF rolls and the grilled seafood, but disappointing when you had heart set on fried calamari. Our waiter was great and very accommodating so I give 3 stars for that but if in Seaport go to regular Legals across the street
We were at the World of Coca Cola (Centennial Park and Acquarium) so lucky to find this good fish restaurant so close. We were told that the manger is very aknowledge with GF and being Celiac, so every plate will be double checked before being served. I decided to trust them and let my daughter have fish and chips. They brought her some GF rolls which she enjoyed hawith butter. For some reason she didn't like F&C, but didn't get sick, so I think it was only her personal taste.
I have craved fried seafood since I was diagnosed with celiac disease last year. I was so excited to see that they offered gluten free battered seafood and that they take fantastic safety precautions against cross contamination. The food was delicious, they even had gluten free rolls and croutons. It may be pricey but it was totally worth it!
Hi I'm Morgan and like most of you I have celiac. Not to long ago we went to Legal Sea Foods for a family event. The hostess said that they were 100% gluten free and that I could even get fish and chips! I was thrilled! When everyone ordered I assured our waiter that I had a severe gluten allergy and ordered the fish and chips. They were delicious! Until on the car ride home we had to stop for you know what! I was up sick all night! When I was up to the task and called the restaurant. The manager was truly very upset about it and gave us a 75 dollar gift certificate, but I don't think I will be going back anytime soon!
