possibly the best gluten free dining experience
great seafood selection and always fresh.
Excellent service. Very careful with allergies when preparing your order. Ellery J. Is very friendly and checks on you often.
This place is fantastic! Everything fried is gluten free and they use canola oil (no soy!!!)!!! This was the first time my son was able to order French fries or onion rings at a restaurant! The gluten free dinner rolls are from "somethingsweetwithoutwheat.com" and they were fabulous! This place took note of all of our many, many allergies, and cooked our food to order. We will be returning!
The staff was extremely knowledgable. The menu indicated what could be made gluten free which was the majority of the menu. We had the crab cakes, risotto cakes, and French fries.
Great selection and great food.
Food was incredible and I made sure to specify that I had celiac disease. The manager (rather than my server) brought my food out just to acknowledge that it was GF, which was very nice. The GF rolls (free of charge) were warm and absolutely delicious! I got the fish and chips and my meal was huge and just wonderful. Will be coming back next time I'm in Boston.
Excellent! ! Very knowledgeable and caring staff. They have dedicated fryers so you can have fried fish here and fries but the onion straws are amazing! All of it was light and crispy. They also serve you gf bread rolls before your meal so you aren't left out watching non celiacs enjoy their bread. The portions are large too and the price is good. I would definitely go back and highly recommend to anyone needing a gf diet.
Serve delicious GF rolls from Rosie's bakery. Manager delivered my food.
Gf? No problem! They really have it figured out. Gf rolls to start, gf clam chowder (ok- not quite as good as the regular I remember from years past), many gf entrees, including fried items that I'm told are all gf and fried in a dedicated fryer. Didn't try the fried food, but the baked scrod was moist and delicious. Felt very well cared for and did not have any problems later. Isn't that what we all want? To feel safe and enjoy a meal with friends/family. This was even better- it was really delicious, too!!
The service was acceptable, despite the waitress forgetting to bring out my fries then blaming it on the other server. But, the gluten free bun for my sandwich smelled funny and had a strange taste. Initially, I thought it was the broccoli I ordered, however, after finishing it, the smell continued. I checked the bread to see if it was molded, but it looked fine. The smell made me nauseated! I'm going to stick to the seafood from now on!
I have reviewed them in the past after a major disappointment. Yesterday's visit was phenomenal though. The GF rolls were warm and soft, almost like my husband's non GF rolls. The GF fried calamari was delicious with consistent breading and chewy squid. The fried Fisherman's Platter was delicious and the clams were tender and yummy. The waitress really seemed to understand my needs and the manager brought out my meals. We went back hesitantly after a bad experience there this past spring, but now this restaurant is back on the top of my list!
Great service!! The chef came out and assured us they took every precaution they could! The fryer does not have gluten items Fried in it so you can have the French fries or the onion strings! I had the grilled shrimp, French fries and polenta no problems! (And some of my husbands onion strings - they made his meal gf too so that I could have some of his!)
Lots of gluten-free options. There was a little miscommunication between my waiter and the chef, but the manager went out of his way to make it right for me. Gluten-free protocols are clearly in place. I visited in Nov. 2015. Read my full review over on the blog: http://www.eatingoutwithout.com/2015/11/legal-sea-foods-review.html
This is a dream for a celiac. 100% dedicated gluten free fryers, manager oversees preparation and delivers gluten free food in different colored plates. Huge selection of gluten free items and the kitchen is committed to keeping everything separate and safe. Best place in Boston for a Celiac go dine. And delicious to boot!!
I don't usually even like seafood, but I find that anything I have ordered is quite good at Legal Seafood. They have a dedicated gf fryer, and they take you seriously when you say you're celiac. I didn't get poisoned when I ate there, and I tend to react to very small amounts. You can eat here with confidence.
Happy with my visit. I had a crabmeat sandwich (because it was $10 cheaper than a lobster sandwich). It came on a soft, warm, flaky GF bun. I'm told the fries are safe, but I think they serve some other breaded and fried things. Regular menu is clearly marked with things that are or can be made GF. Much appreciated! Many options. Sandwiches are reasonably priced . (Most are $15-25).
