Ate here with some other Celtics, and I greatly enjoyed my entire meal. Never got sick, enjoyed all the appetizers - especially the buffalo shrimp! It was amazing to just keep eating and not stress about what I was consuming.

Our waitress didn’t make me feel so sure about their knowledge of celiac, but a different one delivered my food to make sure mine was the celiac one. They didn’t have gluten free buns, but they do have gluten free rolls. The fries were really good. Overall I think it was good.

10/19 update: this place was as great as I remember it from about 4 years ago. Wonderful experience. Delicious fried fish, onion rings, and French fries and coleslaw. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful GF DF experience. My son had clams and shrimp and I had the platter where everything is fried in their dedicated fryers (fish, scallops, calamari, fries, etc.). What a treat! Eating fried food that is GF and DF in a restaurant is almost unheard of. They were very careful and really understood cross-contamination. Liked how they brought our plates out separate too. Delicious!!

WOW! 1) DELICIOUS GF FOOD. 2) celiac friendly! They have allergen trained people for celiacs and shellfish! 3) amazing service. The waiter told us that during their interviews, if they were not knowledgeable or messed up on an allergy inquiry they are not even hired.

Reviews can be wrong but NOT for this place. This place is Wonderful, Amazing, Tasty, and worth the cost of the meal.

My wife and I went here tonight for dinner after I read just about every review on the app. I have celiac and she does not. I’m also a Type 1 Diabetic. We got an Appetizer of Buffalo Popcorn Shrimp. She had the grilled Snapper and I had the Deep Fried Shrimp at the waiters’ recommendation. They let me sub the Polenta for the Coleslaw (no charge) and brought two GF rolls (amazing) at no extra charge.

By far the Best meal we have had in DC. It was all wonderful and the Manager delivered every dish that had to be GF.

HIGHLY recommend this place and Brian as a waiter. As a side note, I’ve seen some reviews complain about price. For two of us we paid $78 for all our food and drinks and that’s a bargain if you ask me (and we’re from the Midwest). We’ll definitely be returning.

We have been in Boston and now in Washington and you feel really safe for celiac. My wife was really happy to have a good and real gluten free beer (brew with GF grains not removed). The food was awesome and staff is really knowledgeable. Great time with party of 9.

Make this a priority when visiting DC! This place is so effing good! A woman certified in gf food cam out and delivered our food and assured us the entire kitchen staff was very aware and making accommodations based on my allergy. I had fish and chips. This is not a a joke, I had the most delicious fish and chips ever. I still can’t believe it was gf and that amazing. If you don’t go here you are an idiot. For real.

Not symptomatic so I can't speak to safety other than how reassured I felt. The person I spoke to on the phone was not very helpful, seemed to be guessing what was gluten free. Once I spoke to the manager I felt much better. I was relieved to hear there was a separate fryer. I did a take out order and when I walked in, I asked for the manager, Richard, who I had spoken to on the phone. He was very nice and very reassuring that he would keep my little boy safe. The fries were good.

5 minutes after sitting down, my celiac daughter ate a gluten roll that the waitress brought to our table. This was after explaining we had celiac and her promising us GF rolls. She only ate one bite but only because I looked at the next table and realized they had the same rolls. The waitress (and manager) said “Oops. Sorry”. We did not eat there and wouldn’t recommend any other celiac eating their either.

Menu is clearly marked w/ what items are or can be made gluten free. They use a corn mixture for frying instead of regular flour which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately our waiter was very arrogant and condescending to our questions about cross contamination and ensuring my meal was safe. The food was tasty (gf rolls were excellent!) Chowder was delicious - tasted just like clam chowder but w/ the consistency of a noodle soup almost. Fried fish platter was also very good and crispy. Nima tested the bread to ensure it was safe and it passed. Ate and did not get sick - unfortunately the waiter’s overall attitude put a damper on the experience. Would definitely return but request another service. Overall, excellent food and it’s safe.

Excellent choice for dinner!! Our waiter helped with our GF and DF questions. The only "mess-up" came when we realized that my husband could have requested egg wash prior to frying as opposed to a buttermilk wash. He had the Fisherman's Platter. He was very pleased with the taste!!

I had the char-grilled snapper with broccoli and rice which covered my GF and DF needs. The GF rolls are also DF which we had with olive oil brought to the table as opposed to butter. When I asked if the rolls were made in house, they said no, but they wrote down the name of the company from which they were ordered. The rolls are made specifically for the restaurant, but I look forward to checking out the website for other GF possibilities.

We will definitely return when back in DC!!!

They were great! The manager brought out my food, showed me the ticket, which was marked celiac, and assured they took all the right measures to keep me safe and I felt fine after eating a salad and mussels. The restaurant trains staff in celiac and cross contamination and started a gluten free/celiac friendly food program on in 2005. I'm amazed and pleasantly surprised

Whenever I am in DC or Boston, I must go to Legal Seafoods! I have Celiac Disease and they are very careful. Their warm gluten free rolls are delicious. Even my gluten eating friends were surprised by how good they were. One time in DC I had fried oysters. Oh my goodness! After my diagnosis, I didn't think I would ever be able to have fried oysters again. I was thrilled. I thought they were delicious.

The menu is extra clear with what is gluten free or not. The fry batter used is totally gluten free, and the serving staff is wicked conscious of allergens. Upon alerting the staff of the severe allergy, they took extra note and had the chef who prepared the meal bring the gf plate out. Their caution paid off as I did not get sick afterwards.
