Good food, staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
Fantastic! All the fried items are GF now. Go, enjoy, eat without fear. I have celiac and I ate here twice a few weeks ago. No issues at all. Just a full tummy!! The service is superb and the fresh fish and shellfish-- just amazing. If I still lived in the area, I'd eat there all the time. Thank you, Legal Sea Foods for doing it right.
Awesome gluten free options and bread. I love being able to have fried seafood again!! I also get the sushi now which is made differently than their regular sushi. It's amazing!!!
I have been here many times and never got sick. I even went here for my birthday and loved it!
Every dish was brought out by the manager. They're very through & take good care. The rolls were a little dry & I prefer Woodman's for fried seafood, but this was convenient and fit the bill.
Legal seafood is so good . There staff managers are right on top of celiac . Most fired food is cooked with corn flour Gluten free options plentifully . Beer vodka gluten free! New Restaurant legal on the mystic in somerville ma .
One of the best gluten free meals. They offered me gluten free rolls which were amazing and the fried shrimp was fabulous. Thank you Legal Seafood.
Always loves the food! So happy to not have to give it up. Especially the dinner rolls!
Great selection and quality. My favorite food before going GF was fish & chips... nice to still be able to have it here.
Outstanding and fresh. Full GF menu. Waitstaff, management and kitchen aware of GF needs.
They do a very good job here, and take food allergies and restrictions seriously. I tell them I have Celiac, and they're usually very good about my order. They even have gf rolls. You can't miss, because they look very different than the regular rolls.
The service was acceptable, despite the waitress forgetting to bring out my fries then blaming it on the other server. But, the gluten free bun for my sandwich smelled funny and had a strange taste. Initially, I thought it was the broccoli I ordered, however, after finishing it, the smell continued. I checked the bread to see if it was molded, but it looked fine. The smell made me nauseated! I'm going to stick to the seafood from now on!
I have reviewed them in the past after a major disappointment. Yesterday's visit was phenomenal though. The GF rolls were warm and soft, almost like my husband's non GF rolls. The GF fried calamari was delicious with consistent breading and chewy squid. The fried Fisherman's Platter was delicious and the clams were tender and yummy. The waitress really seemed to understand my needs and the manager brought out my meals. We went back hesitantly after a bad experience there this past spring, but now this restaurant is back on the top of my list!
Great service!! The chef came out and assured us they took every precaution they could! The fryer does not have gluten items Fried in it so you can have the French fries or the onion strings! I had the grilled shrimp, French fries and polenta no problems! (And some of my husbands onion strings - they made his meal gf too so that I could have some of his!)
Lots of gluten-free options. There was a little miscommunication between my waiter and the chef, but the manager went out of his way to make it right for me. Gluten-free protocols are clearly in place. I visited in Nov. 2015. Read my full review over on the blog: http://www.eatingoutwithout.com/2015/11/legal-sea-foods-review.html
This is a dream for a celiac. 100% dedicated gluten free fryers, manager oversees preparation and delivers gluten free food in different colored plates. Huge selection of gluten free items and the kitchen is committed to keeping everything separate and safe. Best place in Boston for a Celiac go dine. And delicious to boot!!
I don't usually even like seafood, but I find that anything I have ordered is quite good at Legal Seafood. They have a dedicated gf fryer, and they take you seriously when you say you're celiac. I didn't get poisoned when I ate there, and I tend to react to very small amounts. You can eat here with confidence.
Happy with my visit. I had a crabmeat sandwich (because it was $10 cheaper than a lobster sandwich). It came on a soft, warm, flaky GF bun. I'm told the fries are safe, but I think they serve some other breaded and fried things. Regular menu is clearly marked with things that are or can be made GF. Much appreciated! Many options. Sandwiches are reasonably priced . (Most are $15-25).
I was informed by the chef that the Portuguese Seafood Stew is not gluten free and that it's a "typo" on the menu. It's not specific to this restaurant it's also listed as gluten free on their website. None of their wait staff was aware that it wasn't gluten free and at least one of their other chefs was unaware. The issue is their stock is not gluten free and neither is the chourico they use. They have no intention of changing their menu (or the ingredients they use) and they haven't even bothered informing their staff, it makes me wonder what exactly is safe to eat from their gluten free option. I would be very cautious eating here if you have CD or a gluten allergy.
Wow all the staff including the chef who came out and the person who bright the food make sure they confirmed it was all gluten free! Excellent foods too!!
Decided to go here because of the great reviews. I had the scallops shrimp and lobster in wine sauce with French fries and they had awesome dinner rolls. I asked several times if there was a dedicated fryer and was told yes. Well I really was sick shortly after I ate. Something was not right even though they assured me everything was gf-- my gut says there was gluten in something-- I would not ever return-- not worth the suffering
Best Gluten Free Seafood I've ever had! The have a great selection of pretty much anything you would want in gluten free varieties. Dedicated fryers and knowledgable staff. And for the kicker they bring you warm, SOFT gluten free rolls to start the meal. Very glad I stopped in.
I'm not Celiac, just gluten sensitive...but I've dined in a lot of restaurants that claim to have gluten free offerings and let me say, this one is at the top of the pile! They offer a lot of GF options - more than many restaurants. I was able to have fried clams, which I have always loved but haven't been able to eat in years! The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about their GF process and selection, and even offered a GF roll (one of the best I've ever had). Even the dessert menu has GF options. The Belgian chocolate mousse parfait was wonderful. Will definitely visit here again!
Best restaurant so far for celiac friendly. All fried food uses a GF coating so my daughter could eat almost anything she wanted including the fried shrimp! The GF rolls were delicious. The service was fantastic both our waiter and the manager were knowledgable and attentive.
Dedicated fryer, very knowledgable staff.
I have eaten at this location many times, as well as other locations and I've never had an issue. I am somewhat neurotic though - checking and double checking that they know my order must be gluten free. The GF fried calamari is absolutely delicious, and I order it every time I come!
I would give this like 10 million stars if possible. Their fish and chips is basically my entire life, I live in Chicago and we went to Boston on vacation and I bring up their fish and chips to my mom like every day to ask if we can go back. They also had the best and one of the only gf onion rings I've ever had. They were literally so good I can't even. If you are in Boston stop by your life will be changed...!!!!!!!!!!
My boyfriend tried to take me here for a fancy dinner. He told them at reservation, at check in and upon being seated that we both have a serious gluten allergy. Despite them being told several times they still brought out a big basket of gluten filled bread while carrying the gluten free roll right on top of the gluten filled basket. Needless to say after seeing that I did not feel comfortable at all and left immediately! I did try and contact legal's "safety manager" about this incident as I had already had an awful experience at legal's on the mystic and she never returned my call!
Would not recommend to anyone with a gluten allergy or Celiac disease. I have been to the Burlington location and have always had an amazing experience. Decided to try this new location for a change. The server was not knowledgeable at all on gluten free options or handling. Brought out a regular roll and placed it right in front of me then went to another table to take an order, I went to reach for it and she ran over saying it was a regular roll! Later she told me there was only one gluten free option on the menu for dessert which I knew was incorrect as I had been to another location. About 30 minutes after this visit I got violently ill from a gluten contamination! I spoke with Legal's "safety manager" Marnie about this incident and pretty much was given a song and dance about how they are all trained and she is not sure what happened. She assured me that allergies are important to legal and sent me a $35 complimentary card despite a bill of $150 for that evening.
Delicious GF food and so many options! Read more: http://glutenfreecarolinagirl.com/2015/07/20/gluten-free-at-legal-sea-foods/
I am from Chicago and am so used to my only option being salad. Legal Sea Foods was an amazing experience! I was able to order fried foods that were completely gluten free, that was amazing in and of itself, but the fact that the food was super flavorful and probably the best seafood I have ever had was the pinnacle! They even served my mother gluten free to assure there was no contamination and she couldn't even tell the difference until they told her. She and I were so amazed we will be going back on our next trip, we just hope we get the same waiter because he was amazing! I strongly suggest this place to anyone wanting a great gluten free experience like never before.
Fantastic! All the fried items are GF now. Go, enjoy, eat without fear. I have celiac and I ate here a few weeks ago. No issues at all. Just a full tummy!! The service is superb and the fresh fish and shellfish-- just amazing. Even the warm GF rolls were good (and those usually suck, let's be honest!) If I still lived in the area, I'd eat there all the time. Thank you, Legal Sea Foods for doing it right.
They do a great job with cross contamination. They cook food in a separate pan instead of on a grill. I have multiple food allergies, so I stick to the grilled items and plain vegetables, but it's well prepared. I may bring my own side sauce for steamed broccoli in the future. The manager brought out my meal and you can talk to the chef or your waiter/waitress to your heart's content. They also made me my own special course when everyone else had bruschetta. I had watermelon with mint and citrus. Tasty and refreshing!
