Does not have the same menu as a lot of Lupe’s so no gluten free items marked. Manager said they were not set up as gluten free and wasn’t confident about being able to avoid cross contamination.

No gluten free options. Manager said he could make something, but wasn’t confident about it being safe.

This location is not like others. They do not have a gf menu or items listed gf like most other locations. The corn tortillas and every sauce has flour per the manager. That said the manager was great and pointed me in the right direction. I had chicken fajitas with lettuce to wrap and it was good. The options here are limited.

I went to the Katy Grand Parkway location. The waiter was kind enough to inform me that there was a very high chance of cross contamination even if I got corn tortillas because they are made in the same location as the flour tortillas. But I was able to eat the fajitas without tortillas. I appreciated the waiter being knowledgeable and letting me know what was and wasn’t safe. I wish the menu labeled things clearly though.

I have eaten Mexican food in many countries in the world.

Even in Mexico City, I’ve been able to have a very nice and tasty Mexican menu customized to my several food allergies, it’s not too complicated, just a clean pan and the good will, Mexican food is celiac friendly food!

I never imagine that here in US, where there’s enough information about how to handle special diet clients I was going to experience such a rude discrimination and even worst from the restaurant manager!

We came to your restaurant at Katy just because Trip Advisor states that this is a gluten-free options place, but this wasn’t true - confirmed by the person in charge of the restaurant who didn’t make any effort to even try to accommodate my needs.

What was I asking?! Grilled veggies with no lemon, chicken o shrimp with no wheat marinated sauce ... I would’ve been please with a guacamole made from scratch (no lemon) so I could share our Sunday’s Lunch with my familia ... BUT to that simple request He answered that the guacamole was already prepared ... he didn’t even want to take a $1 avocado and serve it ... I held my tears, not my anger because we has so rude :(

He firmly said that that is not a celiac safe place

Um, there is definitely no gluten free menu, I asked to speak to a manager and don't know who I got - but she told me sour cream wasn't safe. Serious miscommunication here. Maybe some staff is better educated than the ones I talked to? Definitely cross contamination on chips and corn tortillas - she could tell me that. Hoping I don't get sick.

Not for Celiacs for sure!!!!!! Waiter first thought cups were made from "flour" so not gluten free (I'm like... They're corn tortilla chips right??!!), then came back and said never mind they are corn tortilla chips so gluten free! But are they Celiac safe? He did not know much about anything for gluten contamination..worth it

I talked to manager. He looked into it after he tried to give me a standard response. I guess he saw that I wanted a dinner. He was very polite afterward and made me feel comfortable. Ordered the fajitas with corn tortillas and mgr said chips were fried with breaded items. I did not get sick though.

This is not a total gf site but they do have gf items. The manager came out and made suggestions and I had the best portabella mushroom fajitas with corn tortillas!! Awesome service and food, great for intolerance and not worried about contamination.

They did NOT have gluten free menu at "this location", according to the manager and they said they could not really serve me anything gluten free as the kitchen was "completely contaminated with gluten". This was a first for me... at ANY restaurant. Needless to say, I did not eat.

We stopped in at this location late on a Sunday night because we saw that they had a gf menu. Apparently, this location is NOT gf. They do NOT have a gf menu, their manager kept saying over and over again that they couldn't guarantee anything. We asked if they could try to make our dinner gf and the manager just kept sticking to his line that they couldn't guarantee it. We walked out without eating there. The 2 star rating reflects our experience of not eating there. Wish it could have been better.

A Mexican restaurant that understands about Celiac disease. Their menu is marked with the items that gluten cannot be removed. All other items do not contain gluten. They are very aware and it’s a safe place to go and not worry about getting ill!

I was excited reading another review that said Lupe's chips were cooked in a dedicated fryer and almost dove into the basket on our table. Thankfully I waited and the waitress confirmed NOT a dedicated fryer at this location. She did offer baked tortillas that would take 15-20 minutes.

I spoke with the manager before we were seated. The manager confirmed that most menu items don't contain any gluten ingredients. The wheat symbol notates the few menu items with gluten containing ingredients. HOWEVER, (a) their friers are shared, so all fried menu items, including the chips, are cross contaminated and therefore not safe for those with Celiac Disease, and (b) the corn tortillas are made in the same pans as the flour tortillas, so all menu items that include tortillas, e.g. fajitas, tacos, etc., are cross contaminated and therefore not safe for those with Celiac Disease. There is one exception for the tortilla rule the manager mentioned: the tortillas used for the enchiladas are premade corn tortillas from a bag, so the corn tortillas in the enchiladas should not be cross contaminated. The manager continued to advocate for me in the back of the house when they were prepping my food to avoid cross contamination.

Also, I just wasn't impressed with the taste of their food.

I am writing in the restaurant because I’m so frustrated. I have eaten here MANY times and been reassured by many employees that it was safe to eat fried foods. These include the ones marked on the menu as gluten free. There is no guarantee that these items are safe. The frier is “usually” chips but also could include an occasional item with gluten. I’ve not gotten sick before but as we know with celiac the reaction isn’t always immediate. Downright dangerous.

They had a dedicated fryer for chips. Waitress wasn’t sure but then went back and confirmed from the kitchen that did. Food was good. Didn’t get sick.
