While I have loved Maddox for years and years. I went last week had mashed potatoes and brown gravy. After being assured, gluten free. Did not even make it halfway home the brown gravy was not safe!! I was going to take my gluten-free cheeseburger home and eat it needless to say I didn't even try to eat it. I would be very cautious.

Maddox has a separate gluten-free menu. You can order a lot of the dishes that are typically deep-fried without the breading. The gluten free menu isn’t comprehensive though—it doesn’t list any of the sauces or side dishes.
The wait staff was not very knowledgeable about what items were safe. Especially since I also have an egg allergy, which I asked her to make a note of. She brought me a mayonnaise based sauce with my food—but it was in a separate up so it was easy to avoid.
I am extremely sensitive and I did not get sick. I ordered the halibut. They pan seared it instead of deep frying it. I also got a baked potato and the seasonal vegetables. I got a side salad with olive oil instead of dressing.
All in all, you can eat here safely, but I was a little bit nervous.

I was surprised at just how many GF options Maddox offers! Almost all of my faves from pre-celiac days are on there. All of their dressings, all of their soups except tomato macaroni (Tuesday’s soup), and most protein offerings are GF or can be made such. For instance, the turkey steak, chicken fried steak, and shrimp steak can all be done without breading. Their fried chicken can be GF if you get it boiled and not breaded. (They boil it anyway before breading and frying, so it just skips the last part of that process to keep it GF.) Their rolls and cornpone aren’t GF, of course, nor are most of their desserts. They also don’t have a dedicated fryer, so fries aren’t an option. However, there are so many other great choices that still let you have a delicious meal without feeling like you’re missing out on all the good stuff!

GF menu actually has listed the items that have gluten in them so everything not listed is okay.
I eat here all the time. Ask for salad without croutons. The staff is run off its feet and sometimes you need to ask for your salad to be remade. The brown gravy if gluten free, I have never gotten sick. Ask for the steak without seasoning. The staff is so helpful and kind. The place is incredibly busy. I find if you treat the staff with kindness they are more than willing to help you in anyway. The staff has always been knowledgeable about what I can eat. I never get sick and I am very sensitive.
I ordered the salmon and it was awesome! They have a separate gluten free menu with quite a few options!

This place is amazing! The brown gravy is gluten free. I am very sensitive and have never gotten sick. Ask for the steak without seasoning. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. They are often run off their feet so patience and kindness go a long way. Sometimes you need to ask for your salad to be remade but it is a simple mistake. I wish they had gluten free rolls as I really miss their rolls!

We stop and eat here every time we come to Utah. Always amazing food and amazing service. We have 4 kids with sever celiac and have never had any issues. We sub fries for mashed potatoes and the GF brown gravy. Best food EVER!!

The first time I ate here, I had trout with a baked potato and salad (no croutons). The salad came out with croutons, and they brought me another one. After that, everything seemed fine. The next time I came in, I informed the server I needed my order gluten-free, and ordered a steak with mashed potatoes and a side salad (no croutons). The server told me all of it could be prepared gluten free, and made a note. He then brought me a salad with croutons, which I handed back to him. When my entree came out, the mashed potatoes were covered in gravy, which was also on the steak and veggies. I asked about the gravy, and the server told me he wasn’t sure what was in it, and went to ask. When he came back, he offered to have my entree remade. I told him I appreciated the offer, but I didn’t feel safe eating anything here. He told his manager about the issue, and to the credit of the staff, the server and the manager genuinely tried to make things right, but I really didn’t feel like I could eat here at all. If you have celiac disease or a wheat allergy, I do not recommend eating at Maddox.

I ate here for a wedding reception. We only were given a few selections from the menu per the ride and grooms choices. But the server was very knowledgeable and very accommodating. Did not get cross contaminated. If I am ever in the area again I would go back!

Not sure if it's gf, called about their steaks, they said they are cooked on the same grill as their breaded chicken/turkey steaks. I don't know if this is correct but I haven't been back. Hopefully I am wrong because they do serve a nice steak.

Great food. Good info on gluten items on the menu
Went here with a large group of family and friends. It was really easy to see what had gluten and what didn't. The first waitress didn't know what GF meant but she quickly asked another waitress and was able to make sure nothing I ordered had gluten. She was very discreet. Good homemade food! The bad thing is, if you have no self control the hot yeastiie smelling scones and fresh raspberry butter are almost too much to take! Good luck with that! LOL!!!
Great steak house, menu is a list of everything that has gluten so make sure your food is not on the list.
