Tons of options on the menu - tell the staff you are GF and they will bring you separate bagged chips and salsa. corn tortillas are steamed separately and other precautions are taken. A great celiac safe choice in Austin!

Great casual Tex mex spot. My kiddo was really excited to have beef fajitas— they are marinated in soy, but the soy is GF. :)

Love eating here. Telling the waiter you need gf, and they bring you a sealed package of gf tortilla chips. Everything that is marked GF is safe.

Be very careful. I asked for gluten free chips which they promptly brought to my table. I then ordered gluten free tacos. They brought FLOUR tortilla tacos not just once but TWICE to me!!! And the second time the person who brought my plate told me flour was gluten free. I told him their flour tortillas are not gluten free. It took three plates before they got the order right. I was very frustrated and concerned. Maudie’s used to be a place I always felt safe but not any longer. I don’t know if they truly started over with meat or just put it on corn tortillas. It took a long time between each of the three attempts but I’m not sure what they did. Guess I’ll find out later tonight as it usually takes a few hours before I get sick.

GF items marked on the menu. They have GF chips and salsa upon request. The waitress added an allergy marker to my meal for the kitchen. Great Tex-mex place! We ate here a lot before I was diagnosed and I’m glad we still can.

Staff was very knowledgeable when asked about gluten free options for dine in or take out. Brought separate GF chips and salsa before our food came out (standard chips and salsa are not GF).
Great food! The menu is marked with gluten free items and those that can be made gluten free. Make sure to let the server know you're gluten free and they'll bring out bagged chips. A must eat for every trip to Austin!

Separate GF chips available. Many items can be requested to be made GF. Food was absolutely delicious. Try the blackberry mint margarita!

I've been here numerous times with no issues. They bring out Gluten-free chips sealed in a bag and their corn tortillas are some of the best I've had!
Yes
This restaurant far exceeded my expectations. They have a wide variety of gluten free options on the menu and they even have chips that are pre-bagged that are gluten free. The food is amazing and best of all it is safe.

Very good food. Gluten free chips and salsa! Make sure you tell them before they bring the chips and they bring you a bag. Almost too much food. I went in starving and came out stuffed.

Cant get any better and more gluten free for Mexican food than this. They will take care oh you. Love it over and over.

I have really bad celiac. So I'm very skeptical about places. And when you pull up this place looks ghetto on the outside. You go inside and it's packed! Also not ghetto. Waitstaff very knowledgeable. Chips come in a bag taste just like old school chips and salsa it was awesome. My mom and I shared fajitas. They brought my corn tortillas separate in a bag as well. They were homemade. Very good. I could taste hint of soy in the fajitas, I panicked. Asked the waitress she said yes there's soy but it's gluten free soy sauce. Didn't even get slightly sick and the food was amazing. Don't be afraid to eat here. Especially if you miss eating authentic Mexican food

Delicious. Wish I did not have to come all the way to Austin to find this jem. The menu was extensive for being gluten free.

I eat here ALL the time. They are so accommodating, I wish all restaurants were like Maudie's!
Delicious! The care the server takes varies by server, but I've had them go above and beyond to ensure that my food was safe for me to eat. There are so many options on the Gluten Free menu - there are very few things they cannot modify to make GF AND they offer separate chips to make sure there is no fryer contamination. This is a regular haunt of mine.

after reading the reviews we decided to eat dinner here. I have to say that this place has a large GF menu. our food was excellent! being Hispanic I was concerned that the GF menu would be lacking taste. I was wrong! this place rocks and we will definitely be back.
Their separate GF menu is huge. We didn't feel like we were missing out at all. Chips are brought in a sealed bag, and corn tortillas are also handled separately. Oh, and the food and drinks are mighty tasty!
Yes
Large selection of GF items and they bring out GF chips and separate salsa so even that isn't contaminated. Most servers are knowledgeable, but occasionally you get one who isn't.
Yes
The staff here is friendly and the food is good. Be sure to tell your server you need gluten-free first thing because the regular chips aren't gf (they'll bring you a special sealed bag of chips). There are lots of gf and vegetarian options, including dessert and they have Omission beer.

Always enjoy eating here. Just wish there were more options.
locals favorite as it was packed, great staff & very conscientious about Gf needs. GF chips come in plastic bag separate from nonGF chips, so be sure to wait after requesting them. service was slow but they told us it was because they take extra care with meal in preparing in dedicated area. meal was spicy, but quite tasty! would definitely return if I'm in the area.
Lots of gluten free options here. Staff is very well trained. I get something different every time and it's always delicious.
A good, predictable GF option in our area. They have GF chips that are sealed in a separate bag and don’t share the same fryer. Lots of GF items on the menu and they are very amenable to modifications to the menu. No cross-contamination issues in the four years since my son’s diagnosis.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast taco. My waiter and the person who delivered my breakfast both kindly assured me that it would be GF, and it was (as well as yummy and filling). Their tortilla chips, however, are not GF -- but you can request some, which will come in a plastic bag. Sadly, I found that out belatedly, because the guy who dropped off the chips nodded when I asked if they were GF. I asked my server to confirm, and he promptly grabbed the chips off the table and got me the plastic bag of obviously less yummy, but safe, GF chips. All in all, recommend. Plan to patronize this chain again when I'm back in Texas.

Maudie’s had patient servers, and could make almost anything on the menu gluten free! Our server was knowledgeable and chill, got us our own unopened bag of gluten free chips, and answered any questions we had. I order the Strait Plate gluten free, three loaded beef enchiladas with fried eggs on top. My partner got grilled shrimp fajitas and black beans. They even have a couple of gluten free deserts to choose from and in house ice cream <3
100% recommend!!! We’ll be back.
