Friendly knowledgeable staff that really listen to dietary restrictions made this dining experience wonderful. I have multiple food allergies and they were happy to make recommendations and modifications. The chateaubriand was delicious.

Farm to table type place. The food was really amazing. When told we eat gluten free, the server immediately asked about level of gluten sensitivity and understood the precautions. Pricey but a great place.

Knowledgeable staff, good selection. I had the fresh catch fish and house made ginger ale. Everything excellent. No reaction.

Best food on the big island, most knowledgeable staff for allergies/GF.
Downsides are 1) no GF menu (but, again, very knowledgeable staff) and 2.) it’s expensive (but I’d argue the value is better than most higher-end restaurants on the big island)

Food was amazing (we got the crudo, the lamb, and the enchiladas), and their attention to my allergies was very good. All the staff were friendly, kind, and helpful as well. We loved every single bite!

Food /service here is beyond excellent. Lots of GF options. The server did say that their soy sauce contains wheat. Don’t know why they can’t use Tamari.
The staff was knowledgeable and helpful regarding celiac and accommodating for multiple allergies and the food was great.

Delicious grass-fed filet with jalapeño mashed potatoes. Had a fresh garden salad to start and was perfect. Husband loved the Caesar. Wished they had GF bread to enjoy but overall this was a winner!

The server was good and carefully went over my very limited options. Meal was pricy and the quality was superb.
Please be careful and ask questions here. I was very disappointed to find out that the two items labeled gluten free on the menu that I inquired about (Ahi poke and seared Ahi) both contained soy sauce, which is not gluten free. Thankfully the server was extremely knowledgeable and I had the Seared Ahi with no soy sauce. It's very troubling that if I hadn't asked questions, I would have been served a gluten-containing meal that was clearly labeled gluten free.

We had a wonderful lunch at Merriman's. They worked with my gluten free, dairy free needs and my lunch was delicious. The other person in our party had a corn allergy and they were able to make a delicious lunch for them as well. Everyone was impressed and look forward to another meal at Merriman's.
There are a few designated GF options on the menu. I'm also vegan and have a peanut allergy and the chef was very willing and able to make me a delicious entree not on the menu with a few ingredients I requested. Very accommodating.

Merriman's original restaurant focuses on fresh, organic, local vegetables, fruits, meat and seafood. Nice gluten free options. Upscale and can be a bit pricey, but well worth it and the drive. Yum!
Had a wonderful evening with my family here. The staff is very knowledgeable regarding Celiac Disease and gluten free requirements. I booked our reservation online and let them know I have Celiac Disease during booking. Our waitress checked in with us about it before I had a chance to let her know. She brought the table bread and an amuse-bouche to start. I was given an extra large serving of the amuse-bouche - which was GF - because I could not have the bread. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. The atmosphere is amazing; live music, intimate environment, ocean side view, and to top it off - a meal throughout sunset. It was an evening to remember. I won’t lie, it’s incredibly expensive, but you are paying for what you get.

The waiter seemed very knowledgeable but kept going back and forth on what was gf or not. I got the enchiladas and the avocado and cucumber salad. I tested the enchiladas and nima came back with a smile. I didn’t feel or get sick.
But, my dad (also celiac) ordered a meat platter special and it came out w the fried potatoes that the waiter said was not in a dedicated fryer before ordering the meal. He took it back and 10 minutes later ended up saying that the pork belly had a “little bit” of gluten on it and that he’s taking that off the plate as well. He chased us full price for a meal that had half of what it was supposed to.

Waitress was extremely knowledgeable about ingredients and potential cross contamination issues. There were GF options available for each course, and they were able to work around a relatively lengthy list of my partner's allergies without batting an eye. The price was high, but well worth it for an unforgettable dinner.
