This is my go to minsky's! I have never had an issue both dining in and take out! Plus this one always gets the crust crispy.
Great GF menu and the management staff is very knowledgable! Their kitchen is still a pizza kitchen so there's always a chance for cross-contamination but I've never had any issues.
I personally thought the pizza was great! I didn't have any issues and it was delicious.
Horrible GF pizza. I asked them if i could take and bake it since they are premade. They got an attitude and said no....I asked them to be super careful not to cross contaminate.Saidly was cross contaminated and i was sick for a week! I only ate a couple bites of it. My kids wouldnt even eat it. If only i didnt have a gluten allergy. There regular pizza crusts and pizzas are awesome!
The gluten free crust is awful. I would rather eat the cardboard box it comes in. I appreciate them trying but this one is a complete miss.
Pizza crust is great, if you like thick crust. Reminded me of Pizza Hut, which I loved.
Ordered GF pizza from the GF menu. They must have brought me pizza with a regular crust! Obviously, I survived the night but was violently sick. My wife (non-celiac) ate some of my pizza and was fine. We were both suspicious of the beautiful, doughy crust, but trusted this place because our waitress said that they had new, GF options. Wish now that we had made her check with the kitchen. This experience was unacceptable!
About two weeks ago, I ordered a medium Canadian bacon with black olive and extra cheese pizza on original crust at the Olathe location. When the pizza arrived, it was completely trashed. It wasn’t tossed correctly (the edges of the crust were jagged and dried out), there was no extra cheese on the pizza, and there was next to no sauce on it. Worst pizza that has ever come out of a Minksys. I called back and complained to Ben, and he stated the next pizza would be free. When I called back today, a person answered the phone who did not initially give his name. I ordered the replacement pizza, advised him it was supposed to be free, and explained the previous problem. He stated Ben had only put an $18 comp in the system and that I would be required to pay sales tax. I told him I wasn’t going to pay sales tax because I paid $21.69 the time before, and the whole order was supposed to be free. When he refused, I asked to speak to a manager. Then, he claimed to be a manager. When I asked for the district manager’s name and phone number, he also claimed he was the district manager, which is ludicrous, because a district manager would not be at that location taking orders over the phone. Next, he hung up on me. I called back two more times to ask for his name, because obviously I was going to complain about him, and he hung up on me each time. The final time I called, I told him f he didn’t give me his name that I was going to drive up there, because I am only about 10 minutes away. Only then did he say his name was Ron, and when he gave me his name he claimed he had given it to me before, which he had not. I reiterated he hung up on me each time I asked for his name, and he chuckled under his breath. This is the most unprofessional restaurant experience that I have had in my life. Someone needs to fire this guy. So I decided to call the State Line location to find out the owner's name and number. When I spoke to Michael at the State Line location, he stated Ben would call me back within the hour, and he apologized for the employee's behavior. When he had not called me back by 3:15pm today, I made a trip to the restaurant. He wasn’t there, but Ron was. When I confronted Ron about his behavior over the phone, he repeatedly lied. He stated he never claimed to be a district manager and never refused to give me his name. He stated he had only hung up on me because I cussed at him, which is inaccurate. I am assuming he said this because another employee was present. Needless to say, he infuriated me at this point, and then I actually cussed at him. I told him if I ever picked up the phone again to make an order or if we came into the restaurant and he was still employed with the company, we would never do business with this location again. Then, he and one of your other employees asked me to “get out”. Hopefully, Minsky's is prudent enough to record customer phone calls for quality assurance, which would make my entire story verifiable. We’ve been eating at this location for almost eight years, and neither of us have ever been treated so poorly. At this point, I refuse to do business with Minsky's again. I have disputed the $21.69 charge with my credit card company.
One of the safest places in the KC area for celiacs. The staff is trained regarding gluten-free and ingredients, pans, and slicers are kept separate in the kitchen (I asked and got that information from the headquarters). Gluten-free pizza is very good, but I ask for light sauce because it seems a little overcooked. I always get the combo, but if you want to select toppings, ask which ones are gluten-free. I strongly recommend this restaurant for celiacs.
I should preface this by saying that I have never had a good experience here. The first two times I ate here, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with regards to cross contamination. The lingering effects of a little bit of cc (namely, the GI upset that sets in within a day or so and sticks around for a while) are about the same as the effects of eating a greasy pizza. The last time I ate here, I almost wound up in the hospital. That's how sick I was--my doctor recommended I be hospitalized. There were a bunch of mistakes with the order to begin with (my pizza was the wrong size, brought me the wrong beverage), but the crust didn't SEEM like a wheat crust, so I ate it. My conclusion, based on what happened, is that either it was a wheat crust, or it was severely mishandled. Both of which are pretty unacceptable. I've never been to another Minsky's (so I don't know if they're usually this bad), but I sure stay clear of this one now, and I'm literally afraid to eat at any other pizza place since the training has clearly done absolutely nothing. If you're avoiding gluten for other reasons, you might risk it. But if you're celiac (or if you have bad reactions to gluten), get your pizza fix elsewhere.
Tastes great with options and this location seems to follow the GF training. I have been able to eat here many times without a problem, whereas another Minskys made me sick a couple of times. There was also a noticeable difference in how the locations prevent cross-contamination. All in all, I recommend this location, just be careful at some of the others.
After catching a K.U. basketball game in lawrence, stop in at minsky's Pizza, where chefs received training honors from the national Foundation of celiac awareness. the extensive gluten-free menu offers smart choices like hummus with cucumber slices to start, followed by creative pizza combinations. the "combo," for example, is topped with a mix of sausage, pepperoni and hamburger. and the mediterranean is a mix of lamb sausage, pesto, sundried tomatoes and feta.
Service was great and my pizza tasted good....but, I have amended my review because of being glutened on my last few occasions to eat here. I have emailed the company but did not get a response. I thought I would try, one last time, to see if they maybe altered practices and just didn't return the email. No, they didn't and I'm sitting here sick again. I have not had issues at the Leawood location, however, and there are noticeable differences in the way that prevent cross-contamination.
I've given Minsky's numerous opportunities to prepare me a gluten free pizza. I work in KC and have been to 2 locations there, plus the one here in Lawrence. After about 15 or so visits, I've finally decided that it's not worth eating at Minsky's anymore. It's a shame, too, because I LOVE their pizza. I'm not a celiac (no bowel issues, etc.), but I do get migraines from gluten which is why I quit consuming it. I have a 0% success ratio at Minsky's. I've never been and not gotten glutened. That said, I've eaten pizza from Wheat State Pizza, Waldo's Pizza, Pizza 51, etc. and have never been glutened by any of those. That tells me that Minsky's just doesn't really care enough about their gluten free customers. And that's fine. I'll just spend my money elsewhere...
I love Minsky's pizza, and their gluten free pizza TASTES pretty good. However, I've eaten at 3 locations (2 in KC / 1 in Lawrence) at least 20 times since going gluten free, and have had symptoms EVERY time. I don't have celiac disease, but I get sinus swelling and migraines when I eat gluten. That said, it is QUITE apparent when I get glutened. I have eaten at several other pizza places and have yet to experience symptoms elsewhere. Either Minsky's is just lazy about avoiding cross contamination or they just don't care. I sent them feedback, but haven't received a response. I have given up on them...
Very good pizza but not quite as good as Waldo Pizza. But it is cheaper. They have a gluten-free menu and also vegan options. I get the gluten-free, milk-free, vegan pizza full of veggies. Very yummy! Very understanding of food allergies. Nice staff. Sign up for their rewards program for coupons and free pizza after earning so many points.
My favorite food has always been pizza and when I found out that I had gluten problem I thought I would never get to eat pizza. Until someone said that Minisky's had GF pizza. And it's so delicious! Plus it helps to know that their staff has been trained on how to prepare it.
Ordered a House salad w/ Chicken to bring home. Picked it up, luckily I checked what was in the bag before we left and they put croutons and bread sticks on top of my salad. We specifically stated Gluten free. Got my new salad and honestly, the taste was not worth the hassle. Not a happy customer and will not try again.
