Love Miss Shirley’s! Always ask about gluten free items and let them know it is an allergy (celiac). Almost always have a manager come out and speak with me as well to ensure the safety and protocols.

Update: A few years ago, Miss Shirley’s substantially cut down their menu. It’s not nearly as celiac/gf-friendly.

My favorite restaurant in Baltimore! Understands celiac vs. intolerance vs. dietary preference. And the spicy Shirley is one of the best bloody Mary’s around.

Delicious breaky spot with lots of gf options. Definitely a great stop if you wanna eat before exploring. No issues. The second question the waitress asked was if we had any allergies and was super helpful. A+

I am super sensitive and skeptical eating here… however after being seated first question that was asked was does anyone have an allergy. I decided on the plain pancakes with a side of hashed browns they told me they are done separate with no cross contamination. It’s been 4 hours and I did Not get sick!!! They were delicious as well. Win-win!! Also had a memosa I will definitely stop back next time in town.

Our waiter was awesome. He immediately asked about any allergies and confirmed how everything would be cooked. My banana chocolate chip pancakes were delicious. I will definitely be back.

After ordering my food with the server he sent the manager over just to confirm that everything would be safe. He even changed the way they prepared my sandwich so that it wouldn’t be cross contaminated. Delicious food and I didn’t get sick.
Our waiter Billy was great! Immediately asked about food allergies and ensured my order came out correctly. I ordered the Avocado Toast with GF bread - it was great!! My daughter ordered the GF pancakes and they were delicious. I highly recommend Miss Shirley’s Cafe! Had a bit of a wait but it was worth it.

NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY! I GOT SICK! I would give it two stars because once I finally got my food it was delicious, but then someone with Celiac might think it is safe so I cannot. I was extremely sad that we had to stop so many places on the ride home for me to go to the bathroom b/c I really wanted to have a new place to eat. I eat at Outback frequently w/ zero problems but they seem to be one of the only places that don't get me sick. Anyway, like another reviewer said, their menu is NOT easy to figure out and our server was not helpful at all. They want you to tell them what you want THEN they will tell you if it's GF after discussing it with manager and chef. My husband said we needed to leave b/c he knew I was near tears b/c they said they'd said a manager over twice to help me b/c our server was clueless and then they never did. My food did turn out amazing after taking 30 min to order, but I got super sick on the way home. Very disappointed it was not celiac friendly for a place that asks about allergens.

Excellent service and food. Our server asked immediately about allergies and was knowledgeable and accommodating.

Always ask if there is an allergy. Fabulous food and portions fit the price.
The first question they asked was whether anyone had food allergies or special dietary requirements!
Yes
Amazing food and service. The manager came to the table to discuss our choices including the way our meal would be prepared. They have separate areas for prepping gluten free food. She was able to suggest menu items that would be safe to eat. They have gluten free pancakes and gluten free bread for sandwiches. The two people in my family with celiac ate delicious meals and weren't sick at all afterwards.

Only options that we were told avoided cross contamination were pancakes and toast. Also did not have good service that day. Waitress made several rude comments. Was hoping for a better experience from all the rave reviews. Very disappointed.
Awesome. Service is excellent. Manager and staff very helpful. Cooked my meal in separate area of kitchen.

Lured in by the promise of pancakes that were both gluten and dairy free. The pancakes were amazing and did not disappoint in the least. The portion is pretty huge so come hungry and the staff are attentive and knowledgeable about individual needs. This place was awesome!! I had the cinnamon roll GF pancakes. They were delicious. They don't have a GF menu but the manager came out to discuss my needs and suggested which items on the menu are GF (mainly pancakes and sandwiches). They prepare everything in a dedicated GF area. I would go back again. They serve breakfast and lunch only.

Number one I loved the customer service of Miss Shirley's-- they bring a manager to talk to you if you mention you have allergies and when I called first before coming they were very accommodating and reassuring that I would have many options to eat. I got the GF pancakes which are also DAIRY FREE. So excited about that. Delicious, I got them with blueberries. They also have Gf bread for sandwiches they said. Love that I can go out to eat with my non-gfdf friends and still eat happily and safely. It is a little expensive but it's worth it for a treat.
Not only is the food fantastic and they're gluten free but the staff are some if the more attentive and welcoming folks I've encountered.
The best GF waffles and pancakes I've ever had!! Very knowledgable and has many allergy accommodations! Absolute favorite GF breakfast and restraunt !
Great pancakes for breakfast. Staff was fully knowledgeable on GF issues and complications. They cook on a separate burner to prevent cross contamination. It was delicious and very reasonably priced!
great for gf breakfast pancakes!

Fantastic options for gluten-free meals. My kids (8 and 12) who both have celiac said it was the best meal they’ve had since being diagnosed. The manager came and spoke to us about the safety precautions they have in place and assured us that everything would be prepared in a separate area and cooked on clean pans. So good we came back twice on our visit to Baltimore!

Had a good GF menu and explained how everything would be cooked and kept GF. They made the kids meal GF and had everything prepared good. Our son is a very symptomatic celiac.
