From gluten free burgers and buns to steak, chicken, and other options on their gluten free menu, 99 is inexpensive ans has good food that's gluten free.
They hand you a gluten free menu upon request, and are really keen on trying to not cross contaminate. I typically order the burger when I eat at a 99, simply because of the buns! it's not that often I can get a huge, yummy burger! for anyone who does order that too (say, the american all star or bacon), make sure you DEFINITELY keep it in the wrapping it comes in... you know how tricky the gluten free buns can be... and the burgers tend to come jam-packed.
I ordered food to go. The person who took my order asked how I wanted my burger then answered for me by saying medium rare. I told her I wanted it medium. She then asked what I wanted for a side. I said loaded mashed...she said mashed potatoes. I again said loaded mashed. At the end of the order, when she repeated everything back, I again corrected mashed potatoes and said loaded mashed. When I picked up my order, I was given what was on the order slip and it was mashed potatoes. I told the gentleman what I ordered and they made it right. After all this, I am now sick.
Mostly celiac friendly. You have to be on your toes. Best to ask for the manager before ordering. Don't get the french fries and don't be fooled if they appear on the GF menu. Stick with potato chips, baked potato. The house-brand steak sauce is not GF. Ask for the A-1. I've dined here safely many times, but I've also been glutened and had near misses. My two celiac kids have also been served safely, served gluten, and served near-misses. The food is good enough, and sometimes the price is REALLY RIGHT (especially if you have kids and the Red Sox won), but you really have to be on your toes. No complacency allowed!
Ive always loved 99. so when I had to go gluten free, I was happy to see that they had a gluten free menu. I go there all the time. they're gluten free menu is a separate menu with some great options. they even have gluten free buns for burgers (I always get the Bacon cheese Burger). all you do is ask for the menu and they accommodate you very well. I haven't gotten sick once from this place so they handle your health needs very well and try to keep away from cross contamination. love this place. everyone should go. its the best chain restaurant around for gluten free options and care. five stars!!
The waitress was able to provide me with a gluten free menu upon request, but the options were few and pretty unexciting for me. No GF bread available. As a vegetarian, salad was my only option.
Have a good selection of GF options
Great service when it came to having a gluten issue. They put it on everything so that your food would not get contaminated.
Terrible service, thought gluten free was a political party! Finally got a gf menu from bartender. Slow kitchen. Cross contamination , my husband got sick in the parking lot after dinner. Afraid to send back good for fear we'd never see it again. Make your own instead of eating here
i used to love their food a lot :D ! but i stop going when i discovered that my unwell feelings were caused by food sensitivities :( Now that the restaurant has a menu for special diets I will b so glad to go back to enjoy again the flavors that i loved !
Have not had a problem yet.. Wish there was more selections.
Their new menu is great and they even have gluten free beer! They have so many options for GF!
really good about the gluten allergy.
Although the food was good, the service didn't really know what was and wasn't gluten free. I ordered the cheeseburger on the GF bun and the waitress ran away before I could tell her my side. I stopped her early enough to change the fries for mashed potatoes, but the plate still came with cole slaw, which, for the life of me I can't figure out why it isn't gluten free.
Had a good gluten free meal and Ninety Nine in Bangor. Salmon and fresh vegetables. Great service and the manager came by to talk with us about their gluten free items. They will be serving gluten free beer in the near future. Next time I'm going to try the hamburg with GF buns. Heard it's really good. Will report back.
At the Dartmouth Ma 99 I was sick before I left the place and it was a major reaction. It was not just a little cross contamination. I was with a gf friend who had the same choice of burger and also was violently sick. Do not trust the Dartmouth ma 99. I eat at the Newport 99 and love it there.
I love this particular Newport 99. Even their French fries are gf. I sit at the bar and the service is wonderful. I have a hamburger WITH a BUN and French fries whenever I go there. It is absolutely delicious and a treat to have french fries. I have been 3 or 4 times and had a great meal and no reaction afterward. Each time the waitress has been very aware of what it means to be gf. I ate ate the 99 in Dartmouth ,MA and was sick before I left but at the Newport 99 I never get sick!
Go to the ninety nine in Bangor Me and they have a great gf menu ....great gf hamburg buns!!!
Very knowledgable and helpful. Good choices. Made nachos for my gf daughter. Also they have French fries at this location if you ask. Separate oil for French fries!
They have gluten free fryolator for french fries! Great selection and gluten free desert.
Went to the 99 in Augusta, ME. Excellent service, well knowledgable on celiac disease and cross contamination, and the food was great! love that they have gf buns for hamburgers!
Great hamburg and GF buns. They even have GF French fries!!!!!
Had an awesome cheeseburger. The roll was out of this world. Ate some of my friend hot fudge Sunday. Not a good idea. Was not gluten free!
It's a great place to stop in and have a burger with a gluten free bun! Would be nice if they could offer french fries, but mashed pots are the gf option. Local neighborhood friendliness. Drinks are great and the service is always great.
Salmon was delicious. Veggies good. Several choices on GF menu. Cost reasonable. Will go back.
They have a nice Gluten Free menu not a silly binder that I have encounter other places. They have GF buns for burgers, they aren't the best it's nice to have the option. The steak and galic mashed are my favorite!
Gluten free hamburger buns (that are also dairy free) we all had a great meal and no one got sick :-)
If you are gluten intolerant & craving a burger, nice place to satisfy craving. Usually has a dedicated fryer, but inconsistent. May need to ask to be sure if in the mood for fries.
Love restaurants that have gluten free menus! My favorite is the balsamic grilled chicken.
They made a mistake. I ordered a burger WITH NO BUN. I specifically told them that I have Celiac. I took my to go order home... Guess what? There was a bun. Yep. And no, it was not one of their gluten free buns. I had to go back and I still wonder if they just removed the bun and gave me the same meal. I do not think they took me seriously. This isn't an allergy...it's my life, damn it.
Like many places you go to the GF menu is not as extensive as the regular one, but what they offer is tasty and they are one of the few places that has GF burger bun as well. The bun can be dry though so I would suggest you ask them to toast, or better yet, grill it with some butter.
had the hamburger with gluten free bun, my meal was cross contaiminated, had a huge rash across my abdomen and digestive track problems for days.
Went to this branch once and had a horrible meal. First my gluten free burger came out on a gluten-containing roll. Then my replacement burger was almost raw because they were rushing to get it to me when I ordered it well done. The other chains in CT are great, but I will never return to this one in Bristol/Forestville.
Great food and GF care taken, staff very careful with CC issues. I learned today that they have been ordered by Corp. to do away with the dedicated fryer. So no more GF french fries. Very Sad
They do not gurantee the fries are gluten free even though its in its own fryer and no gluten products in them. They say at times it could be used for other products. I had reguardless and no issues!
