I'm a celiac. I eat here often and I haven't noticed a problem. The staff is always very knowledgeable. I never worry about getting the eye roll from staff about my "allergy." I also don't feel like I have to stress the importance of it like crazy. I have always felt like they take me very seriously, and I'm sure that they do since I have never gotten sick from here.
For some reason, this P.F. Chang's is extremely hit and miss. Over the course of the years that I've been here, the food just doesn't seem to come out the same. Yes, P.F. Chang's is a chain, and as such, you should expect the same quality and taste as if you are eating the same dish in any other P.F. Chang's. For whatever reason one time the food will taste excellent and then the next time the same exact dish will just taste off, the meat isn't cooked right, there isn't enough sauce, etc. I do appreciate that they label the plates, rounded with a black line and says PF Chang's, and sauces, red, from the regular food. There is a nice GF selection. The staff is nice and friendly and the service is generally quick. One thing that I would caution is that if there is anything going on downtown or it is a hopping Friday or Saturday night, reservations are a good idea as you might find yourself waiting a while for a table.
One of my favorite places!! They are very careful with cross contamination- they have special plates that are dedicated for gf only - also when we get take out it specifically says gf on the box! We eat here once every couple weeks!!
They have a large variety of GF items to try and the staff seems really knowledgable about GF food prep.
Food is good, service is a bit slow. But they are a great safe alternative.
GF on the regular menu, can't go wrong!
The food was fabulous and they were very careful with our food. It's a bit pricey but they encourage sharing and portions are generous. My husband doesn't need to eat gluten free, but my girls and I have celiac disease. When my husband ordered an item that could be made gluten free, she asked if we wanted to order it gf so we could all share. It was a great idea. We all felt very safe. I wish they were closer I'd eat there frequently.
Update: several months later. They now have a chocolate dome again, but I was not a fan of the sauce. U can still ask for the raspberry sauce only I found out after getting the newer one with some citrus flavor sauce & not even finishing it with a friend. The server recognized me from prior visits & gave me the tip on the sauce for next time. Also, they came up with another GF strawberry shortcake desert. Gotta get it. Seriously moist & delicious. Excellent GF food & have been enjoying for years. Disappointed tonight as they no longer serve any GF dessert. The place they bought the chocolate domes from are no longer making. They are looking at other options but it has been this way for several weeks per the server & he was shocked how many people have asked for it recently. I always order dessert here & take home if nothing else, very disappointed this has been a staple on their menu for years & no option now.
Knowledgeable friendly waitstaff. Dessert was fantastic!
get sick everytime I eat here.
Incredibly good Chinese food and fantastic service. See photos I took of my favorites. I love the Egg Drop Soup! It is the best I've had anywhere. My other favorite is GF Fried Rice with Chicken. So good topped with a mixture of GF soy sauce, hot mustard and chili. Ask the wait staff to mix it at the table.
They have a completely dedicated gluten-free kitchen, I was diagnosed about a year ago with celiac and have been craving Chinese food ever since. I almost cried when I ordered I was so excited
Ate here with my two celiac children and none of us got sick! It was very tasty and they paid close attention to our needs, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any celiac or person needing a strict gf diet.
Although the food is delicious and this used to be one of our favorite places to go we have removed it from our list. My boyfriend has celiacs and the past few times we have ordered all gluten free items he has gotten sick. It makes us sad it's not celiac safe.
I get sick every single time I go there
I've given them a try more times than I can count in various locations, and at least 30% of the time I end up feeling badly and knowing for sure that my food wasn't GF. This was our first time at this location since moving to Richmond. The GF menu is smaller and more expensive than it used to be, and I've been home 30 minutes and can tell my stomach isn't happy. And this particular location was painfully slow, which has nothing to do with the GF part but is certainly not a positive thing.
My boyfriend, myself, and my older sister's family frequent this PF Chang's often. They always have a GF dessert available and that chocolate dome is finally back!! 😍😍 The staff are very understanding and knowledgeable when you mention an allergy, although we have had mixups happen: On one occasion they brought a meal out on their GF plate, but we swore it tasted off.. I stopped eating it, my sister definitely felt the repercussions of that instance. Because of this I wont mark "Celiac friendly."
Wow, I cannot just say that the knowledgable staff is great; they are enthusiastically great. I feel so good about eating there, not only because it is safe, but everybody there makes us feel so welcome. They have an easy, separate GF menu. We eat there almost weekly and only once has a potential error occurred. But we caught it because they use different plates for GF meals. Nice safeguard!
We had our 1st PF Changs experience tonight & it was amazing!! I am gf & df and our server, Catie, was so helpful in guiding me to which items I could eat. The house made ginger beer is gf & so good! For an app the lettuce wrap was amazing & the pad Thai was stuff dreams are made of! I can't wait to eat the leftovers. They also put all gf items on a special PF Chang plate rather than a regular plate so it's easier to identify the gf food. Can't wait to go back!
Gluten free is served on round plates and was delicious. Service was great, and they reconfirmed the gluten free dishes when they were bought to the table. Great location , we sat on the outside patio so could people watch on the strip too. Quite expensive but definitely worth it for gluten free Chinese food!!!
Amazing. Completely separate menu with lots of options. Shrimp fried rice was to die for. They use a different kind of plate for gluten free dishes so that everyone who touches it is aware. Server said it is loaded into a totally different computer in the back and made in a dedicated gluten free area and separate wok. I feel almost normal again .
I have eaten here several times. I have never gotten sick. I like that they use separate plates for gf, so you can verify they brought you a gf meal. Just ask and verify if it doesn't come on the special plate and verify the sauces when they come to the table.
All GF food came out on special round plates and is cooked with dedicated equipment. The Mongolian beef is to die for! Felt safe eating here as a celiac and would definitely go back!
I cannot believe this place has received good reviews! My daughter became sick within minutes of eating the food. I will accept partial blame because there were red flags. The manager on duty came to tell me I ordered something that wasn't gluten free according to the chef. When I pointed out to her that it was on the gf menu, she double checked with the chef and they agree he must be mistaken. Nope-not mistaken! It was an absolute nightmare to have my daughter get sick as she was moving into her dorm. Please please do not take your family there if you have celiac's or a high intolerance!
