Some of the staff is knowledgeable about GF options, and some are not. This used to be my go-to spot but had a substantial reaction this past weekend from eating here.

Been coming here for years and the food is always delicious, but this was the first time since my celiac diagnosis.
I appreciate that on the menu it’s specified that they use GF rice vinegar for all sushi rice & they never hesitate to bring over GF soy sauce.
However, my server didn’t seem to understand what I meant by “gluten allergy” and when I asked about whether certain rolls would be appropriate for me, she didn’t know and didn’t seem to be thrilled about going to ask when I asked her to do so. Food arrived on shared plates so there could’ve been cross contact with eel sauce, etc.

This is a delicious and beautiful restaurant. Unfortunately, though, when we went, there was no GF menu. We asked the server about GF options and they didn't know what "gluten was". When we explained, they did point out some options, which my wife (who has celiac) ordered. She unfortunately DID get cross-contaminated from this meal. Really glad to hear that other people have found this place to be safe. Not sure why we didn't have the same experience. Maybe we had a new server, or maybe those folks don't have issues with cross-contamination. But anyways, we won't return when we need something gluten free. The food itself is great, but gluten-free didn't seem to be a diet that the restaurant was aware of or catered to.

Server was able to point out which rolls could be made gluten free. Not a wide selection to choose from, but delicious. I've eaten here twice now and not had a reaction.

This is our number one pick for sushi. We have two celiacs in our family and have never been sick after eating here. Staff is very knowledgeable about what is or can be made gluten free. They have gluten free tamari. They have GF Miso. GF teriyaki. Fresh sushi and good variety for kids menu too. Matsu has a reliable staff that has been working with him for years. We love Sho!

I have celiac disease and have been eating here regularly for years without issue. The food is always very delicious, this is the best sushi in this area of town for sure. They also make their own GF sauces and salad dressings. Just avoid the tempura items and you're fine.

We ordered takeout and enjoyed the food. All sushi sauces are GF, which is nice, but tempura is not GF. They will modify any rolls to make them GF, which for my online order meant omitting ingredients rather than substitution. Tamago and Inari on the sushi menu are not GF. Their curry and ramen dishes are not GF.

The food was really good however the server didn't really know about celiac and wasn't really sure what my son could have even though I asked her to ask the kitchen. Then she brought the food out with two items that have gluten touching his food. Then she brought the same plate back with those two items removed. It was really frustrating. I think that there are probably a lot of options for him and she just didn't know. She was very nice and the food was really good.
Amazing place! All their sauces are gluten free, sushi rice is also plus they have a happy hour!

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, rotating cider on tap (double check it’s gluten free), multiple gluten free dressings and sauces (for sale to go as well), gluten free sushi rolls, good happy hour and all of their rice rice is made with gluten free vinegar! Overall, wonderful accommodating spot for a gluten free sushi dinner.
